Great fast lens
Great lens, sharp as a tack, fast auto focus. Nice depth of field when wide open. Bought to use with upcoming Blackmagic pocket camera.

Nice lens
This lens has excellent image quality, nice bokeh, and is small and lightweight. It is a good portrait lens and nice for lower-light situations, both cases where the fast f1.8 aperture is useful. Micro four thirds lenses seem expensive to me (compare the price of this lens with Nikon or Canon 50mm f1.8 lenses, for example), but compared to other micro four thirds lenses this one is among the more affordable prime lenses. In use, I don't see any negatives with this lens.

Lots of bang for little bucks
I wanted lens with shallow depth of field for my Panasonic G5 camera. I took a chance and went with the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 that is supposed to be compatible with the Panasonic mirrorless cameras. It works GREAT! Love the shallow depth of field and fast AF! I also found it is great for low light. It is very small so carrying this extra lens is no added burden. I would highly recommend this lens!

Great quality lens and an awesome price!
As the old adage goes; Good, Fast, Cheap, pick any two. Well this lens definitely breaks the rules. Good - Great build quality, both the optics and the outer build. Focus ring is buttery smooth. Fast - Both the 1.8 aperture and the lighting quick auto focus. Cheap - Very very reasonable price for the quality of lens.

My Lumix GF3 Bottlenecks this Lens!
There is such a thing as having a lens that is too good for your gear. I am a casual hobbyist, not a pro. I was upset with the lack of low light capabilities with the 14-42mm zoom and the pancake lens for my lumix GF3. Outside shots, amazing. Indoor, terrible. I needed something better, so I turned to this lens. Once I got it, I shot some really great pictures and quickly realized that the lens is noticeably slower to focus than the Pancake for t... Very good, but not awesome
Sharp enough, fast enough (f/1.8), compact and portable enough, looks good in silver. Definitely a keeper. But, I find that despite its pretty good bokeh, in practice it's hard to get the shallow depth of field and strikingly blurred-out backgrounds that isolate the subject, that seem to come so easily with a fast 85mm or 90mm full frame lens. I guess that's why I still have, and still use, my OM-4 and my OM Zuiko 85mm f/2.0. There is no getting ... Show More

Great Fast Prime
The Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.8 is a great lens on the Olympus OM-D E-M5. Fast & quiet AF. f/1.8 gives good low-light performance and shallow DOF. Smooth action w/ the focus-by-wire MF ring. Nice and sharp. Small and light weight. Great portrait lens equivalent to 90mm on SLR and great general-purpose lens if you like the short telephoto focal length. Trim Ring that covers up the bayonet mount for the lens hood is a bit odd -- I guess because the lens is so small the size required for the bayonet mount looks out of proportion in black on the silver lens.

A $ Must Buy for all Micro 4/3 Users!
I can't believe I'm saying a $ lens is a must buy but it is. The construction is great, it has great bokeh, great PQ, fast AF. I love the fit and finish. Looks great on my black E-P3. I love the bling so much that I went out and bought the 12mm lens also. Which is another great lens. The only issue I with this lens is the lack of a hood. But I'm not going to penalize this lens for that.

Very nice lens!
Very sharp and easy to use. Fits a little tightly on my AF100, but works perfect with my GH2.

Sharp wide open & fast AF w/Olympus EM-5
Bought this for my Olympus EM-5 instead of kit lens. Very impressed with resolution and contrast even wide open. After reviewing about 500 images taken with this lens I am wowed by the sharpness. Much better than the other kit and step up lenses I have owned and used. (On Sony A700, Panasonic G5 and Nikon V1) Focus on EM-5 is very fast, even indoors and in low light.

Meets the hype
This lens produces some amazingly sharp results. It is head and shoulder over any other lens I ever used.Focus seems a little slower than on some pana sonic lenses. No scientific measurements just an observation. The down side is that there is no Image Stabilization when combined with the panasonic body. With this focal length it makes using it for video handheld extremely difficult. The lack of a plastic hood is of course a major annoyance.

Great portrait lens
For the micro four-thirds format, this lens does an excellent job with portraits, producing razor shop details at the plane of focus, and good soft focus behind and before (bokeh). Highly recommended.

Great sharp lens
Very light, super sharp on GH3, fast autofocus. On a retina display, with minor sharpening of the RAWS, it's like looking through a window at the subject. Not easy to do handheld video, though, but fine witha tripod.

Great Portrait lens
Excellent portrait lens to complement the Olympus 4/3system. If you are tired of lugging many pounds of full sized camera gear around, the olympus system is a quality alternative. This lens is fantastic, and a steal at this price.

Best Deal MFT Lens
At first, I was nervous in purchasing this for my OM-D EM-5 because I didn't know how much I would use this focal length (90mm equivalent). After getting it, I did have a little bit of buyer's remorse, but it quickly went away. This lens SHINES when shooting in low light. I use it for walking around at night and it is especially good at close-up objects with its awesome bokeh.

Novice photographer with a great lens
I entered the micro 4/3s world in the hope that this could be a fun diversion. This lens has proven it can be. It makes taking pictures nearly foolproof. Great in low light. Clear as crystal results. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Magnificent Lens
I use this lens for general shooting as well as for portraits. It is absolutely sharp! I have to turn down the default sharpening in all of the pictures I take with this lens! The AF is very quiet - it was hard to get used to when I first bought the lens because I didn't think it was focusing. The focus ring is very smooth, especially compared to other focus-by-wire lenses I've used. I'm not that bummed about the lack of a lens hood, since I have... Show More

As Excellent as I Expected
After buying a Panasonic G3, this has been my first (and to date only) lens purchase. I love it for its fast autofocus, sharpness, the gorgeous colours it captures, and of course the option to stop down to 1.8. It's barely left my camera since I put it on, and although I know this medium telephoto length is mainly seen as a portraits lens, I've been very pleased using it as an all-purpose lens. Of course, it takes stunningly beautiful portraits, ... Show More

I have a Nikon D600 and a D7000 and the holy trinity of zooms along with a handful of gorgeous Nikkor primes, but the nicest photos I've ever taken (I'm a bit embarrassed to say after spending all that money) is with this lens mounted on my OM-D. There's something about the combination of the sharpness of the photos and the wicked creamy blur with the aperture wide open, that just makes my jaw drop. I love this thing. Great M 4/3 Lens
Great Bokeh and a very sharp lens even at f/1.8. See attached photo, it was taken with a panasonic GX1 camera and 45mm olympus lens at f/1.8, iso 160/1/800 sec. This is a Great lens for M 4/3 cameras. I plan to get in near future the panasonic 20mm lens and the Olympus 12mm lenses.
