Sreet lens

Oct 10, 2016

This is the lens I use for street photography. Of course it is light and compact but what I love about it is the color rendition, which is excellent and the fact that the images it produces usually require little correction.

Would definitely buy this again

Sep 13, 2016

Was looking for a relatively fast but very small prime. Waffled between something around 17mm or 45mm. This was kind of in the middle. Factor in size, weight and price, and decided on this lens. And it still fits in a small jacket / photo vest pocket. As a bonus, I really like that it focuses to just under 8-in., and for close-ups indoors, this works perfectly for me. (FWIW: 4 stars is usually the best I give for outstanding products, 5 stars is reserved for extraordinary products. 4-1/2 stars would be a better rating for this lens.)

Great lens

Apr 20, 2016

Even though I purchased the 12-40 2.8 Pro Lens I wanted a fixed 25mm (50mm equivalent) lens to provide for those times when you may want to photograph in very low light. This lens is comparable to the 75mm 1.8 lens in the skin tone area and the richness of the photograph. Olympus lenses are fantastic and this lens is no exception. It is light and will complement any Olympus body...EM10/EM1 or EM5 Mark II...if you are thinking about lenses for you... Show More

Excellent lower light lens

Apr 5, 2016

I purchased this lens specifically to use indoors without a flash. It works as expected. I do limit the ISO auto adjustment in the camera to prevent very high ISO settings. On the down side when using wider f stops you do lose background focus, which is expected. So not really a critism, just a comment

Very sharp from end to end

This camera is sharp in the center like most lenses these day but it's even sharp on the edges. Love this lense. It's great for the price.

This lens works great with the flash that came with my E M5 camera. It is sharp and good for low light. The lens can be used for anything that you can get close to.

Light, compact, and great for m43 cameras

Mar 8, 2016

This is a great lens to use in low light situations. Even better is how compact and light it is yet still capable of sharp images (there's slight chromatic aberration, but it's only at the deep corners). Compared to the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4, there's less vignetting. I should mention that the auto focus works pretty fast, much faster than the Panasonic 20mm f1.7. I would definitely recommend this lens for street photography due to how compact it is and the image quality it's capable of. And if it matters to anyone, this lens is made in Japan.

Great for price!

I owned the 75mm Mf used it for my gh4 and loved it. I sold it for something different but I needed to be back in the Olympus family. I love the 25mm. Wish the auto focus was a little faster but for the price I'm happy.

Great Prime Lens for M 4/3

Feb 28, 2016

This lens, albeit a bit pricey compared to its DSLR competitors, is a great 50mm equivalent option. There is a concern that a shallow depth of field is not obtainable for the micro four thirds format, and after around a week of usage I can confirm that it is very possible to get a shallow DOF with this lens. If you are thinking of getting this or the Panasonic 1.4 version, I would suggest this lens due to the negilible difference in DOF. The imag... Show More

Great Lens

Feb 16, 2016

This is a great lens with great sharpness even wide open. This lens works out to be a 50mm on 35mm format which is great for everyday or street photography. You can achieve great bokeh with very thin depth of field and Olympus colors are always good. This lens is also very small and light weight. Highly recommended!

Nice and sharp

Feb 11, 2016

I recently purchased an Olympus E-M10 II, and bought this lens to go along with it as a general-purpose prime lens. It's the first prime lens I've owned, and I see what all the hype is about. This lens is very sharp across the frame, and I'm very happy with the pictures I've been able to take. The rest of this review is meant for those like me coming from a kit lens-only background (it will be obvious to everyone else). I can't overstate how nice... Show More

Crisp and Clear

Feb 2, 2016

This is a nice addition to your m4/3 kit, especially if you are accustomed to the 50mm normal lens in 35mm format, for all its virtues and faults. Fast, quiet, accurate AF. Sharp throughout the frame, especially when stopped down a bit, but still reasonably sharp wide open. Very nice color rendition. Still a good walkaround size, though not nearly as compact as the Panasonic 20mm.

Awesome lens for everyday shooting

Jan 31, 2016

Bought this over the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 for the smaller size and better sharpness across the frame. The lens stay on my E-M5 II most of the time. It is sharp at all apertures. Only problem I have is in a quite room or when recording I can hear the autofocus motor. Thought it would be silent like my 14-150mm II or 14-42mm II

My second micro 4/3 lens

First impressions are really good! I haven't had a chance to give it a test run; I have used it, just not enough. It is a sharp lens, and well made, But there is something that nags at me, and I almost feel not worth complaining about,- and not a issue where I would abandon Olympus for another system; but here it is. This is my second m4/3 lens purchase, the first was the 17mm 1.8. That lens came with no lens hood. Okay, no big deal. The 25mm 1.8... Show More

Better Than Expected -Great!

Dec 23, 2015

I bought this 25mm to use as my primary street photography, take anywhere lens. I was using the 17mm 1.8 but I prefer less of a wide angle perspective and more of an up-close view. This lens gives me that and has great sharpness, bokeh, is light, small and quick to focus. I do miss the manual clutch that the 17mm had. With this on my Olympus E-m1 I feel almost as happy as when I bought my first 35mm camera, an Olympus OM1 with a 50mm 1.8.

A Well Made Lens

Dec 17, 2015

I purchased this lens to use with my Olympus OMD10. When I bought the camera for travel photography, it came with the 14-42 kit lens and I also got the 40-150mm. I added the 25mm to have the capability of shooting in lower light while having a focal length that works quite well for street shots. The quality of the lens (has a hood too!) is well beyond the other lenses which have plastic mounts and I've found the images sharp. A nice Bokeh is easily achieved.
