Great gaming/editing performance @ 144hz!

Jul 11, 2019

I really went out on a limb to buy this without having any sort of reference when it came to reviews. This laptop has about 2 reviews on YouTube (both were not English and lacking in quality) but purchased it purely based on its specs. I'm not disappointed at all. Pros + Plethora of ports in the REAR of the laptop. This makes cable management on a desk super easy and gets those pesky cables away from my mouse hand. + Powerful CPU and GPU which ... Show More

A few things missing from being GREAT

Nov 23, 2019

I've had this laptop for 2 days and I am very impressed. It is relatively lightweight and definitely powerful. The trackpad is the best trackpad i've ever used on any windows laptops. It is so smooth and I haven't had any skipping on it. The build quality is very very good for plastic, and the 144hz display is so buttery smooth. So why did I not give this a better rating? There are a few things that keep this from being great. 1. There is a stron... Show More

great specs, non-existant battery life

Amazing specs, especially for its price. the fact that it has 1tb of ssd and no hdd was one of the factors that pushed me to buy it, since you'd generally want as few moving parts as possible in a laptop. The main and biggest flaw is its battery life, which lasts for ~2-3 hours, when doing everyday tasks; ie not when gaming. You'll want to carry your charger if you plan to take the laptop outside. Great Design and Touchpad!

Aug 28, 2019

I wanted a laptop mostly for schoolwork, but also wanted it to be capable of 4K gaming, and it does both very well. First off, this laptop looks amazing. If the visual appeal of technology matters to you, this will not disappoint. I was also pleasantly surprised with the touchpad. It's not perfect: the right and left click buttons below the touchpad are hard to press, the touchpad is to the left instead of to the right (though that would be good... Show More

Perfect gaming laptop for the price!

Jul 8, 2019

The Lenovo Legion Y540 laptop is a great buy! Ive had it for 2 weeks and have been very impressed with its power. I play a couple games on average of 2-3 hours each day with all settings on High/Very High. Ive maintained high FPS with no slow down or hiccups. The keyboard has a nice feel and is durable. The white backlight makes it easy to type in the dark and you can dim it further if needed. The RTX 2060 paired with the i7-9750H are a beast t... Show More

Incredibly fast for an excellent price.

Sep 17, 2019

I bought this laptop on sale for $1299, it had the best specs of any laptop I could find for the price. I'm a professional photographer and I needed a fast laptop to speed up my workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop as my old laptop was really starting to lag behind. The specs and power of this computer are fantastic and it's handled anything I've thrown at it with ease. You can play basically any game on the market on this thing at ultra setting... Show More

As good as you will get for the price!

Sep 8, 2019

Check out all of the reviews on youtube... I won't try to reproduce them here. Pros: Very good screen - bright, responsive, big. Thermals are good - the fans still run when gaming, but with a little undervolting and Throttlestop control, the temps never cause trouble. Good port selection, and most on the back so cables don't get in the way. Fast USB ports - my USB 3.1 flash drives operate at 275mb/sec. Fast SSD, CPU and GPU for the price...you ... Show More

Great Laptop

Aug 9, 2019

So far so good. No complaints. I already had a cooling pad, which seems like a good idea since the laptop seems to get pretty hot. But that's just based in comparison to my company issued workstation laptop with no video card. This is my first gaming laptop and I'm not a big gamer (yet). Plan to use mostly for video editing and photo editing, with some occasional gaming. So far Adobe Creative Cloud apps all work great based on some initial tes... Show More

An Unstable Masterpiece

Jan 9, 2020

I have been nothing but satisfied by my purchase of this laptop. The components it contains (and I have verified them) at this price are unheard of. My only complaint is that out of the box they tried undervolting some components a little too much, resulting in some graphical artifacts. However, ten minutes on google got this resolved, and now it runs great! Ive used it so far for gaming, video rendering, and 3-D modeling. For gaming, this laptop... Show More

Best deal ever for an outstanding machine.

Aug 23, 2019

I bought this machine as a workstation with gaming capabilities, and I can't be happier. Got the best price on internet for this specific configuration. Shipping was blazing fast. I got it in 4 days and I'm from overseas. Pros: - dedicated nvidia RTX 2060 6GB gpu - last gen i7 cpu - 16gb ddr4 RAM - 1TB ssd m2 hard drive (not nvme, but 1TB!!) - screen quality (outstanding color accuracy and refresh rate 144hz) - overall build quality, it's amazin... Good for video editor

Jan 22, 2020

Have this computer for two weeks and use it daily for video editing and rendering video files. Over all very pleased with its performance. Coming from Mac (10 years editing on FCP and Premiere) I was very skeptical first. This machine can take some heavy loads but gets noisy and blows hot air from its exhausts (which is weird for Mac user at first but certainly makes it even more bad a**). It has some handy features in its Lenovo Vantage app to b... Show More

SO FAR, SO GOOD

Nov 18, 2019

I am a die-hard Dell fan, but the price was too good to ignore. I like the Lenovo (which is the old IBM) keyboard and mouse pad better than the Dell equivalent. My warranty start date was wrong (way off by months), but I have contacted support and they should have that corrected this week. I recommend an internal HD or SSD for data storage. One interactive game has hogged my storage! I may delete it. I got a gaming machine, not for gaming, but f... Show More

Sleek build but audio crackling is unbearable

Aug 27, 2019

I've tried two of these now - sent in the first because of crackling and popping both through the speakers and the headphones. I googled and saw others had dealt with the same issues, but the features+sleek non-gamery style and price point had me trying my luck with a replacement. Alas, it seems it really is too good to be true as this one has the same issue, a constant crackling that gets louder and quieter according to some capricious whim I ca... Show More

Great Gaming Laptop - Not Super Portable

Dec 4, 2019

This computer is a solid laptop that can play AAA game titles in a relatively compact frame. That being said, this is not a super portable/ultrabook laptop. This is more designed to sit on a desk and be moved around occasionally. It's not particularly comfortable on your lap for extended periods of time and can barely fit on most (economy class) plane tray tables. I personally chose to return this laptop because I travel a lot for work and th... Show More

Amazing Laptop For The Price

Nov 28, 2019

The Y540 is an amazing mid-range gaming laptop considering the price-to-spec ratio (I got mine with an i7-9750H and an RTX 2060). I've had it for about a week and haven't had any problems so far. The 1Tb NVMe SSD is pretty fast and helps with cutting down on loading times and the 16Gb of RAM are more than enough. The minimalist style is also a plus if you also intend to use it as a work laptop as it doesn't scream gamer as most other gaming lapto... Show More

Great machine for the price

Got this primarily for software dev and gaming on the side. The price is hard to beat, considering the rtx2060 and 1tb ssd. Machine runs pretty cool out of the box, and it undervolts well for even more headroom. Comes with a cable for a 2nd drive, and supports 32gb of ram. Bought on Black Friday for a great deal, so the price point for me was perfect. The SSD makes boot up and loading any game fast, and the RTX i7 allow you to run any game beautifully. So far this thing is amazing

Dec 26, 2019

Have had for about a week and am amazed. Not a gamer but a photo editor. Large 50mb files that are prepared in Lightroom and photoshop. Old laptop couldnt handle at all. Old desktop had slow processing speeds. This thing no issues. I am able to export 50 files in under a minute. For the first time ever I can process panoramas real time. Joins 6 raw photos and generates the preview and final edit within a minute. Battery has a short life 1-2 hours but I planned to use plugged in anyway. It is also large and weighs a few pounds but not an issue for me. Highly re CB ommend
