Excellent sound quality
At first they seemed to be too small for my head but when I got used to them I finally started to hear the sound quality and it is simply amazing. Very linear and clear like monitoring should be. I started to hear finer details I never noticed before. These are not street headphones, these are specifically for mixing and mastering and the quality is really high-end.

Amazing quality for the price.
I bought these DT-880s for critical listening at home and they go beyond what I expected for headphones on this price range. The construction quality is very good and the 880s are very comfortable for long listening sessions, so much that sometimes I forget that I'm using headphones. I use glasses and had no problem with the sealing around the ear, the pads mold easily to the shape of the head. The sound quality is very detailed for t... Show More

Really nice cans for critical mixing and generally listening to music.Comfortable to wear over periods of time and no real downside to owning a pair. Replacement parts easily available which is one of the things that atracted me to these over other headphones. Curly lead and adaptor come as standard and well packaged. Love 'em!

Awesome
These headphones are a great all-rounder. They do everything well and the price is very fair. I use them mostly for listening to music, gaming and as reference for recording (together with other things). They are semi-open, so they have a respectable sound stage while not being obnoxiously loud to people around you. The velour pads are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. The only gripe I have with the comfort is that the he... Show More

Wizard
Tells you where you've done mixing mistakes like an old & impatient katana master. No screwing around, it delivers amazing insights for the mix. Would buy again & again & again. Using it in combo with the HD25, perfect way to get a nice and balanced mix :) A bit heavy on the skull but it forces you to get breaks, which is a very good thing.

On me head!
Very pleasing to use, rich sound, which I gather is pretty neutral. A little tight on my XXL bonce, but not too fatiguing for mixing sessions. A jolly good purchase.

Sound quality and comfort can co-exist!
After much trials and errors finding a headphone which sounds good and comfortable to wear, I finally discovered this headphone. I can wear it for many hours without feeling any pain on my ears. Before I found Thomann, I ordered two Sony headphones from Amazon - both were turned out to be counterfeits (MDR V900HD and MDR7506). I think one should be extremely careful to purchase things from the Amazon Market Place merchants. I managed to return ... Show More

You can hear every detail of the sound.
I'm a bit of a Beyer Dynamic fan, I already had some DT990 pro for general listening and several DT770 for tracking. The DT880 is much more transparent than the DT990. It is my new favourite headset. Great for mixing - I can hear every detail - although beware most other people wont be listening to your mix at this level of quality, nor with such a flat tonal balance. I can't imagine how much speakers that sound this good would cost.

Great choice for the pro and amateur alike
I did plenty of research before buying these, and I haven't been disappointed. Their direct competitor is the Sennheiser 650's and although they are rated as some of the best mixing headphones out there, these are also on par. The bass response has been argued to be more 'genuine' as in less hyped than the Sennheiser's and I have to say that it seems to translate to other speakers very well. The sound is open, clear and well defined througho... Show More

Sonic Velvet for your ears!!!
Comfortable, sturdy and most importantly, sonically accurate. It took me a few days for my ears to adapt from my old AKG's (which I thought were superb) but these cans just sound better and better with each passing day. You will need a headphone amplifier to get the most out of them but even a cheap solid state amp (Fiio etc) will produce results that your ears will love.

Great quality and price
Best value and quality, especially for the money! I'd say best semi-open mixing earphones, there are lots of very expensive headphones, but do they deliver the better sound? I have Sony 7509HD also, which are really great closed back earphones, if i may bring in such a comparison... But compared to Sony, the Beyerdynamic DT880 (being a semi-open) gives extra sense of room (reverb) and instrument positioning. Don't know how to describe it better. ... Show More

The most comforable, uncoloured and honest sounding headphones
The Beyer DT 880's are the most accurate, clean, uncoloured and pure sounding headphones I've ever heard. They sound amazing right out of the box. The more I listen to them the more I love them and realise how good they are. They are meant to be semi-open headphones with little bit isolation feature of closed back headphones, but I've found them only open back headphones with no isolation, they is nothing about this headphones that suggests t... Excellent
Very comfortable with clear sound, excellent kit all round. Feels like a quality, well made product, I recommend. Great for mixing and editing as the cups fit over the ear and stay in place but not so good for DJing I would say.

Detail, detail, wondferful detail.
I use Sonar and compose music with it which is why I bought these. I don't consider myself an expert at all but I was just listening to Bowie's 'Heroes'. Never owned it, only hearing the Grooveshark version but there are things on that record that I had no idea about. I have just tested the bass response, in my own fashion. It's fine - at least for my purposes. Also I'm using a good USB audio interface, not the onboard soundcard, but I have no headphone amp and they are loud enough for me.

Fanastic headphones
I've been using these at work for 5 years now, and they have been absolutely awesome. The earpads are comfortable enough to wear all day without discomfort, and the sound is clear and balanced. My only complaint was that the headband started to become deteriorated after about 4 years. I purchased a replacement online which was actually for the DT770, but it fit on the 880 fine -- the pad just wrapped around the metal tabs on the sides instead of under them.

A great choice for sanity checking your bass frequencies.
These were recommended by a trusted friend and I'm really happy with them. Initially they sound underwhelming but that is because they aren't hyped at the top end. I find they have a tiny bit too much high mids 2-4khz although the overall tonal balance is excellent. They are a very relaxing headphone to use although they can like most over ear headphones press a little too hard onto the veins in front of your ears. I also have some... Show More

Beautiful open sound
Got these on the recommendation of a fellow professional, and have never looked back. They are my first choice of cans for mixing and mastering. The only way I can describe them is that when listening to a mix on the monitors and then putting them on nothing changes except the sound stage opens up a little as would be expected. The open back design gives far better transparency but obviously makes them unsuitable for tracking. They are absolu... Show More

Precise, Sturdy, Repairable Cans that Improve With Age
An interesting headphone that does differ to previous models I have tried from the same manufacturer. The DT-880's are rugged and very clean although they can be slightly harsh in the 2-5Khz range to begin with - this is actually somewhat useful as getting these resonant frequencies accurate in any mix is crucial. To make use of them you will NEED a high quality headphone amp. Too many times equipment of this nature suffers from under-powere... Show More

Well worth the investment
I have been using these headphones for 5 months now and they are proving to be a very good investment. The results of my recordings are proving to be very accurate over the months. I also use them to assess the fine differences in drum heads, shell materials and drum tuning. These headphones pick up the smallest adjustments and drum/head characteristics that are almost impossible to hear by ear. They are robust, comfortable and good for both listening for enjoyment and for mixing accurately. I would definitely buy these again.
