Very Bad Build Quality by AKG Slowakei
I was lucky to use my brand new unit for two or three times. When I was trying to change the cable, the mini XLR port got into my hand with couple of wires. So when I see little bit further I saw that there were no threads inside the housing but in the XLR port. It is totally a design fault.. might be the whole production line lot could be effected with this issue. So I return this product back to thomann and they have replaced with ano... Show More

Great open back headphones
Detailed, engaging sound signature with good spacial imaging. Good base response. The K712s need a good Headphone Amp and DAC to perform at their best. Very comfortable.

Great headphones
I listen to classical music and acoustic modern jazzy music (97% instrumental). These headphones sound natural and feel comfortable on my head. If you like the K701 then these are much better. NOTE: They are not bassy; i.e. bass is neutral.

AKG K712 HEADPHONES
I needed something accurate to check mixes and edits. I had been using the K701 cans which I like better because they are *NOT* accurate - they're I guess what's called an audiophile headphone. The K712s are accurate. I think for 10x the cost, I'd prefer Stax electrostatic - but that's not going to happen here. So it's K712s around here, and they actually are fairly comfortable and sound great (except on bad mixes!). For $ you really get quite a nice product, and they deliver as promised.

Takes some time, but worth it
AKG headphones have been lifelong companions to me. STarted out with a K-171 which served me well for 12 years, then moved on to K-240 MKII, which has been unbeaten so far... until now. Unfortunately the first pair arrived with a manufacturing fault, but Thomann did a stellar job replacing the unit with a good one. Doesn't score good points for quality control on AKG's side, but I guess these things happen (hence 4 stars for quality instead ... Show More

Great Headphone
I needed to replace my Beyerdynamic DT990 and decided to give a shot to this AKG model. Really great soundstage. Might not be the most music enjoyable headphone, but it is extremely revealing and helpful for mixing your tracks. Comfort wise its unbeatable, sometimes you forget you even have it on. I did need to buy a headphone amp to fully enjoy this headphone, as even those it has low impedance, it requires a good amount of power to drive. Definitely Recommended!

These sound great.
These headphones sound amazing. They are open ear so be sure you are in a quiet room. Then just relax and listen to the music the way it was actually recorded. I hear new things in songs I have been listening to for years with these headphones. I mixed some music with them and the mixes were really nicely balanced. I don't use these headphones with a power amp but I hope to one day. I heard they really open up with a power amp. Until then they still sound amazing right out of the box. No complaints.

It's Beat for Mastering
I tried HD800 HD600 HD650 K240 600ohms(MIA) K701(MIA) K271.... K712(MIA) is the most serious for Mastering!! I use HD650 to enjoy music(HD800 too fake) , Use K712 to Work. K712(MIA) Really for professional!!

The Best Hi-Fi Headphones
If you want real, clear and colorful sound then take K712. The only alternative is K701, but you get what you pay for. For a week I tested a lot of models of Shure, Audio-Technica, Sennhiser, Alesis (terrible ones), AKG. Important note: Be sure, Sennheiser HD600 has nothing to do with the High-Fidelity. Too much bass and treble.

Excellent reference headphones
These headphones sound excellent. They aren't hyped in any way and the detail and clarity is sublime. I would not mix primarily on headphones, but these are perfect for referencing mixes or sorting out the lows and highs which are either hyped or inaudible through monitors. I also trust these headphones if I think my speakers or room are lying to me, so these are a great option for the mix engineer who works on location or travels lots. They seem... Show More

AKG K-712 Pro Headphones
I've been using these for the last week or so, and i'm extremely happy with them. I owned a pair of k240 Mk2s previously, which are great, but my son jumped up and down on them! They were robust and sounded good for most applications but the 712s are a big step up in quality. I'm confident that i can put an accurate mix together on these headphones before taking it across to my main monitors, the low end in particular is very accurate and transpa... Show More
