I have personally worked with a pair of these mics and they are way cooler than the steel plate look. If you tape them to the lid of a grand piano, one up by the high strings and one down by the lows away from the player, close the lid, put the cover on and pan them, the sound you get with little to no bleed is crazy good. I've also heard of using them as drum rooms and kick outs. But seriously try the piano thing you will be amazed.
