Very capable lens
Amazingly sharp lens...use it for portraits outside and landscapes. Took this on my vacation instead of the 70-200, and it gave me more reach...and great images

Works well for me
I have only tested this lens for just one morning. I took it through the normal paces of testing it by shooting a book shelf and checking the corners for sharpness. Then I went outside and took several images around my neighborhood. I shot everything on a tripod at all different focal lengths, and tried to stay at the focal length I usually use for landscapes, f11. I must say I'm very impressed with the sharpness. It at least equals my Sony 70-20... Show More

Sony fe 70-300
AF is pretty good. For best operation, make sure to download the most current software for your camera from Sony website. Can take nice sharp shots of hummingbirds, ducks, etc, A little pricey, but lighter weight and better AF than using Canon lenses with an adapter.

Good zoom
Necessary zoom lens. It's pretty decent and fun to use. Slightly slow at auto focus and absolutely needs to be used with a tripod but super happy

Its no FE70-200/4 but decent
Compact / Sharp / Great reach for the E mount. Not as quick or good as the FE70-200 but for reach it is good

Exactly what I was hoping for!
Was looking for alittle extra reach. I use a tripod alot so was not to worried about the speed. A7rii seems to be perfect for this lens. My copy at least is very sharp and do not see any quality difference between my 70-200f4 and this, and that is a very good lens as well. This in combination with the new 24-70 GM is my kit for hiking. No it is not the lightest but both are ridiculously sharp lens. Still want to get the 18mm Batis if it ever beco... Show More

Great alternative for going light!
I am a Canon shooter, who uses a 7D II with a 100-400mm lens, for walk-around bird photography. I wanted something to carry with me when I wanted something a lot lighter. The Sony a6300 with this lens is a great combo! I wish the lens went to 400mm, but it doesn't. Until this lens was introduced, and the a6300 with phase-detect focus points, I didn't even consider any mirrorless camera. It's more than a decent lens. I recommend it with the a6300.

Surprised with the sharpness of this lens.
I as very surprised with the sharpness and color production with the lens. Very happy and on the a6300 comparable to 105-450.

Freat lens for when you need that extra reach
I have the suite of FE lenses for the Sony Alpha 7rII. The f4 70-200 is a fantastic lens, but sometimes I want more than 200mm. This lens fills that need and is a great lens to take when traveling light.

I would buy this lens again
I have only owned the lens one week. Excellent optics, clear with sharp objects in generally bright light.

The second time is the charm!
The first copy of the lens that I received was either defective or damaged in the shipping process. The zoom bound up at 100mm and would not go further. As always, B&H customer service was great during the return process. The second lens is great. Sharpness and color and color are excellent throughout the frame, plus the zoom actually works smoothly. It is a pretty heavy lens for the a7 body, but seems to balance well on the tripod.

This Product Meets My Expectations
I have had this lens for about a month now. I use it primarily for wildlife photography with my Sony A6000. This lens has performed quite well. I have taken it out several times and it has performed flawlessly. I have not noticed a drop-off in clarity throughout the range of the zoom. Seems as sharp at 300mm as it is at 70mm. Of course, even though it performs at an equivalent range of 105mm to 450mm with my camera I wish I had even greater range... Show More

Finally!
I've been longing for a longer reach since I got my Nex-7, I'm using this mostly on the A6300 and it is so nice to get that extra distance. I've had it about a month and I'm happy so far, it isn't the fastest lens, but it's still a manageable size that wouldn't be possible with a larger aperture

Love my 70-300!
I am an amateur photographer with an interest in wildlife and birds in particular. Most photographs are captured on our own property with occasional visits to known bird hotspots. My initial interest in photography began with photos of Eastern Bluebirds on our property. I owned first one and then a better Sony point & shoot. I need a lightweight camera due to arthritis and a right hand joint replacement. As soon as the Sony Nex was developed, I p... Show More

It's a beauty (and a beast)
I love this lens. It's teamed up with the new Sony A6300 and I am getting much better results than I could get from the Canon 7D with the old Canon 400 prime. It's all about it being lighter and OSS on the 70-300. Yes, it's expensive but if you are trying to get wildlife on a relative budget in the Northeast US, where all of the birds are very skittish - this lens can bring it home. Don't expect the results of a $7,000 to $12,000 lens like your r... Show More

Excellent zoom lens for full frame Sony camera
This is an excellent long range zoom which I purchased with the goal of replacing my Sony FE 70-200 G OSS in order to obtain the longer reach. Build and appearance are exceptional like the 70-200, and the black finish is more preferable for me with my a7rii and a7ii bodies. The 70-300 is about the same weight as the 70-200, but shorter in length without the collar, making it more user-friendly for use without a tripod. I use a ReallyRight Stuff L... Show More

Sorry To Rain On Your Parade
I tried 2 copies of this lens. One of which was less than sharp on the right side at 300mm and the 2nd horrid not sharp on the left side. The bottom line is also that between 200-300mm this lens loses sharpness at the extreme sides/corners. Pure and simple it will NOT provide a completely sharp full frame image at 300mm. Perhaps optically it's design isn't able to accomplish this. It WILL provide a superbly sharp central portion of the frame even... Show More

NICE LENS
This lens works well with the Sony a6300 camera. I purchased it because I needed a nice zoom action lens while I wait for Sony's new 70/200 which has not hit the market yet. It captures excellent clarity and detail for items too far for my other lenses to capture.

Not the fastest, but still a quality Sony lens
All images were taken on a Sony A7 II The 70-300 is moderately sharp, sharpest between 9-11. Focus is quick. Bokeh is surprisingly good, creamy, and gleamy. Better then I expected. Could not get the focus button on the side of the lens to work with my camera. Looked all over for an answer still have not figured out how that works. When zoomed in the f stop will close up I think max at 150mm+ is only 5.8. The tiny battery of the A7 II gets drained very quickly when every thing is turned on.

Nice Lens
Takes sharp photos. Would prefer a 28-300 or an 18-300 to make it an every day lens. But, good at what is was designed to do.

Outstanding Lens
This is an outstanding lens for doing short to mid range wildlife photography when mounted on the A6300 or A7II. For me the balance on the cameras is fine and does not interfere with bringing the camera and lens to the eye in a quick and smooth action. The OSS works great with the A6300 and the zoom in and out is great. So far there has not been any lens creep.

Very Good Telephoto Zoom, but My Copy Was Poorly Finished
My primary reasons for buying the Sony FE 70-300mm G OSS was to get a longer reach and greater maximum magnification (0.31x vs 0.13x) than my FE 70-200 F/4 G OSS. I plan to use it on my Sony A7ii and A7Rii to photograph larger insects, like butterflies and dragonflies close-up, as well as certain types of wildlife and flowers. I would have given this lens five stars were it not for the fact that, right out of the box, the lens barrel had a highly... Show More

Sharp - and not only in the center
I was only able to do a very small comparison test with my other Canon L and Sony lenses yet. However, the full frame sharpness as well as fringing tests came out quite good. On the negative side however I have seen it searching on my a7RII for focus in low light situations 2 times. This might not be a problem of the lens, but I have barely ever seen that on Canon (5DMKIII with 100-400mmL). One reason for my order was Dust- and moisture-resistant... Show More
