Great addition to the NEX line
I got this lens when I ordered my NEX 7 kit. Perfect addition along with the 18-55 kit lens. The image quality seems better than that lens. It is also very light and QUIET. The only real drawback is it is a slow lens, but that goes with lightweight, smaller lenses that fit the NEX line in size.

It is a great lens!
It is great lens, light weight, yet takes clear & sharp pictures. The only thing I would change is I would buy the other lens 18 to 200. I don't like changing lens back and forth.

Good Value
The lens is sharper then expected. Stoped down to f8 it is sharp across the frame and at all focal lengths. The stabilization works well. Focus is not fast but seems accurate. It is an easy to carry size.

It's ok but not the best
I've used this for about a few weeks now, but it hasn't really been a prefered choice, as the range is not flexible enough and it's a bit soft, having to stop down even more, it's already a slow lens at f4.5, consider your use case first before considering this lens.

Great lens for the price.
I'm a hobbyist and for the price, this is a nice piece of equipment. Best for shooting outdoors. I did a comparison test with the Sony Sal55200. The NEX lens gave a cleaner image because of the OSS. I would recommend this to all NEXers looking for a lens to expand beyond their standard len 18-55mm. It's not a Zeiss and not meant to replace a Zeiss. The quality you get for the price is perfect.

Sharp and shimy
I bough this lens not expecting too much from it. However, when paired with the Nex 5n, the image quality is nothing short of stunning...rich saturated photos and tack sharp focusing. Hunts a little in low light, but at the preice you can't expect perfection.Much better than its price suggests

Zoom Lens
Great addition to my Sony NEX-5N camera set-up! Awesome lens too since it picks up where my 18-55 lens drops off. This lens gives you 55-200mm for less than half the cost of the 18-200mm lens. The 18-200 is $800 and the 55-200 is $. So for $450 savings I can take the 2 seconds to switch out the lenses which by the way is super easy! Love it! Used it today and would highly recommend!

Great lens for the money.
I am new to the mirrorless cameras. I have several DSLRs and wanted a small camera with good image quality. I have the Sony nex5 with the 18-55mm kit lens and wanted more reach. I do alot of hiking and this lens with the camera is a blessing after lugging around a DSLR and long lens. the image quality is good when you have good light, the focus is a little slow in dim conditions, but with higher ISO this lens does all I need it to do.

Great for sports shots

Fine Lens and a great Kit Extension!
Buying this lens was bit of an obvious choice with my Nex-5N and the 18-55 kit lens that came with it. What surprised more was how good this lens actually was, despite the deceptive weight and look. I like how the 18-55mm is good enough to keep on at all times, but the times i wish for the reach, the 55-210mm comes more than handy. Great addition for my lovely Sony NEX
This telephoto lens is an amazing addition to an even more wonderfull NEX camera. The reason that I choose this camera and lens is that I see it comfortable to take it (unlike a big and probably better SLR) to any outdoor activity event. I got wonderful pictures with this kit during rock climbing, skiing and travelling. Apparently I became a NEX-fan

Great lens!
I just got this lens and have only used it once, but I love it!! When I first got my NEX C3 with the 18-55 kit lens that it came with, I kept saying I need a telephoto lens, and the 55-210 lens is just what I wanted! I'm looking forward to being able to take it out and use it more to see what kind of pictures I can get with it.

Good Tele for the NEX series
I've only tried it a few times so far, the focusing time is moderate to good, depending on the lighting condition of course. I also own the 18-55mm from the NEX series and combined with the tele they cover a very good range. Talking about aperture, it could of course be better but for the very reasonable price and in comparison to product from other pocket system cameras (like Olympus or Panasonic) I'd say it's worth every penny!

Good Value for a Telephoto Zoom
I am quite impressed with the build quality and performance of this lens. Focusing and zooming rings feel smooth and tight. The rubber coverings make the lens easier to hold and zoom; I wish the same covers were on the 18-55mm NEX kit lens! Image quality seems to be consistently sharp across the whole focal range. This lense surpases all expectations. It was purchased as a gift for my wife and casual usage. The quality and caliber of the photos have been excellent. The clarity of 4-6 point font on bottles and cans is clearly legible from 25-30 feet with with crisp images when combined with the NEX-5N. ok but not great (a contradiction)
The lens is at best, ok ie. average and or I guess it kinda works. I use it on the sony 5n and have found it extremely aggravating to use autofocus in dim night or interior scenes searches, searches, searches, can't find focus loses focus, ugh! This camera is amazing. Amazing photos and videos. if you want a camera which is easy to carry but half he size of a bulky DSLR, this is the one. It uses the newly developed CMOS sensor, same one used in the bulky, expensive Nikon D-7000. There is no in-build flash, but It comes with a external flash attachement. Good kit lens
The intended end user for this lens is customers coming over from point and shoots. In this respect it does it's job very well on the NEX-5N. Pictures come out sharp with little distortion. What there is is erased when you use the lens correction options in the camera's settings. Zoom while not up to today's super zoom ranges is more than enough when you consider the pics taken with the 5N or 3C can be cropped to the same effect due to the higher picture quality over point and shoot camera. I primarily use it at my kids sporting events and vacations.

Very impressed
After using an adapter and an old Nikon lens, what a relief. Focusing was always a headache before but this lens is quick, clear, and sharp. Manual focusing is just as easy, the ring is responsive and has great rubber textured grip. Nice having longer range. It is lightweight and therefore a bit on the fragile side (I assume this with all my lenses).

Got what I was looking for...
I am an outdoors enthusiast with limited technical camera know-how. I wanted a somewhat compact camera versatile enough to be simple to use yet capable of taking DSLR-like pictures. With the addition of this lens to my NEX5 I have found exactly what I have been looking for. The zoom capability of this lens is fantastic and along with the compactness of the combination it allows me to pack lightly yet take pictures that can really impress. In many cases when you take a scenic photo the expression is, the picture doesn't quite capture it. But not in this case.

One Sweet Telephoto for the NEX
I had some significant concerns this lens would be too much of a compromise for those that have any experience with Sony Alpha lenses I can lay your concerns to rest. This lens, optically, is a very close brother to the Alpha 70-300G.
