Huge upgrade from the kit lens
Got the lens for my a6500 and it is like having a new camera. It is an amazing lens with outstanding clarity. Very glad I made the purchase. Only downside is the size and weight but that is to be expected.

My favorite traveling lens!
I used to travel with the Sigma Trio for Sony APS-C: 16mm, 30mm, 56mm F/1.4 and the quality was amazing. However, being the heavy traveler that I am (up to 6 continents this year, yes, I said continents, not countries!) I need something more travel friendly. Switching between 3 primes was just soooo annoying. I think at one point I switched lenses 20-30 times in 1 hour! Wanted to shoot myself. This 16-55mm G lens gives me just as good as image q... Pleased so far
I am an amateur photographer who primarily shoots street scenes and city landscapes. I've used this lens for a couple weeks in manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority modes on a 6500. On the wide end I shot some scenes with both this lens and the Sigma 16 mm 1.4. If I pixel peep I think the Sigma may be a tiny bit sharper but for my purposes they are basically identical. The zoom is very smooth as is the focus ring. Autofocus is very quick and silent. It's a solid feeling piece of gear. Although pretty pricey, overall I am pleased with this lens so far.

Great lens thats super sharp
A great lens that I paired with my A6600. Yes, it is expensive but the performance is there. Sharp wide open and great rendering.

Amazing!
Me and my business partner bought this to add to our budding company and so it's already proving to be completely worth the investment. Amazing length range for video work as well as portrait photography.

My #1 traveling lens, period!
I used to travel with the Sigma Trio (Sigma: 16mm, 30mm, 56mm all F/1.4) however since getting the 16-55mm I have sold all my Sigma's! The convenience is totally worth it, but not just convenience, the sharpness of the Sony is just as good as the Sigma's. Also, I found myself shooting a lot at F/2.8 to F/5.6 for portraits (I wanted some of the environment in focus because of the beautiful scenery), so I rarely used the Sigma's at F/1.4. This is a no brainer for a heavy traveler (going to 6 continents this year!)

Dream lens.
This is the by far the best lens I've ever used within this range. The custom button on the lens, the weight, the sharpness just everything is awesome. the price is a big setback but what are you gonna do. Put it on CC or dont buy it at all. I wouldnt imagine even used ones will drop in price anytime soon. Overall it's just a stellar lens. zero complaints.

Big upgrade from 16-50mm kit lens that came with A6000
Purchased with A6600. Great to have f/2.8 available for all focal lengths. Seems huge compared with 16-50mm kit zoom. Not ideal for travel.

Expensive but worth it
Like many of you contemplating purchasing this lens I was hesitant because of the hefty price tag. I pulled the trigger and I was glad I did. Build quality is superb! Focus and zoom ring are smooth. I feel the images are sharp and offer nice bokeh when wide open. In low light it works well with the a6600 since the the 6600 has ibis, the 6400 struggles a little bit in low light but you don't notice the lack of ibis on the 6400 in normal light situ... Show More

Great All-Around Lens
I bought this lens with an a6600 (both on sale). The combo is noticeably heavier than my older a6000 + Sony Zeiss 16-70 f/4.0, but still comfortable to carry around for long periods. The lens is extremely sharp, at all apertures, focal lengths, and across the entire frame. Maybe not quite as sharp as a good prime, but awfully close. It is built well and operates very smoothly. Focus is fast and bokeh is very nice. As some reviewers have pointed o... Show More

Best lens so far for my A6500
This is a great lens. feels perfect on the A6500, great sharpness and color saturation. Like most Sony lenses, this is just perfect.

First take on Sony E 16-55 f/2.8
I've taken several hundred shots using my a6000 (waiting for arrival of a6600) and I must agree with the reviewers, this lens is much better than the kit zoom. It balances well in the left hand but does add a lot of weight and bulk to the 6000 series. Virtually silent and very fast focus are very nice features making the experience even better. The only issue so far has been what appears to be a failure for the camera to start when turned on, I a... Show More

Premium lens, premium feel, sadly premium price
Great all around lens for the a6500 or a6600. I wish the telephoto range would extend to 70 mm. great bokeh.

I'm just not sure what I think yet?
I pre ordered the lens and waited a long time for its arrival. I was really looking forward to using it. I also ordered the 6600, but am using it on my 6500 for now. I am happy with the size and weight of the lens, but it does have obvious vignette issues wide open at 16mm. Perhaps it will make a perfect pairing when the new 6600 arrives. So far I am just not sure what I think of the lens, but glad to have it because it fits a need.

Very Nice!
You can feel that this is a quality lens for your e-mount camera just taking it out of the box - have played enough with it I can declare that it will definitely be the lens which will being finding a permanent home on my a6500. Not just part of my stash of lenses, but The Lens for grab n go needs. Having a fast zoom lens with a range for a true wide to portrait needs is unbeatable. Fast general purpose zoom
I've been waiting over a year for this lens. I love this speed plus zoom range. I also own and heavily use a Canon EF-S (apsc) 17-55 and Canon (FF) 24-70mm both f2.8. Compared to these two, the Sony is much lighter and more compact. I have not shot video nor jpegs with this lens. I shoot RAW and process in Lightroom. As of this writing, Lightroom does not have a profile for this lens, so I use the profile for a Sony 10-18. The corrections appea... Show More
