I'm In Love Again
After many years not having a decent small compact camera to wear on my belt, I've found one to love again. Being of old school which used a wet darkroom, holding up an iPad or smartphone to take photographs seems like blasphemy. I need to use a viewfinder to see a picture. Over the years I've owned at least 5 compact cameras. Only one did I truly like. The RX100 III has me in love again. Being a senior, the LCD screen is handy in those low shots... Show More

Exclnt Images, Love the Size
Finally, a real camera that really fits in my pocket. I carried it with me at all times in vacation, and I got photos I otherwise wouldn't have gotten. Yes, I always have my cell phone, and it takes pretty decent photos, but the ability to one-hand the RX100 let me get shots I'd never have gotten with my phone. Exclnt image quality. Control over shutter and aperture make a huge difference. Totally love this camera.

Thumbs Up !
My husband just bought me this camera after my Panasonic Lumix broke. I feel immediately 'connected' to this new camera, seems more user-friendly! So far, photos look great.

First impression was good, but...
This camera has potentially great image quality, both still and video, but is so overly complicated, menu wise, its frustrating, and the .pdf download manual barely touches the surface. Example: I occasionally like to use the miniature effect for my doggie, so I set up the A (aperture) mode for that, but then ALL the other modes, S, P, Auto are then also set for miniature. Today I had it set to S priority, with other parameters set to auto (ISO, ND filter, metering, WB) and the pics were way overexposed. It seems the only mode thats usable (for me) will be the green auto mode.

Great travel camera
So easy to use and great results. Love my larger Nikon DSLR bul hate lugging it around on trips. The Sony rx 100 III gets great results and fits in my pocket. Even great video of grandkids skiing. And they can use it too!

Great image quality, fits in shirt pocket...
Sturdy construction, great image quality (at the highest setting) great video quality, though I havent yet done any serious video-ing. The shutter button takes some getting used to, theres not the usual play of most cameras where you gently push for focus, then harder to take the pic. I wish it were a hair wider, (longer?) to have a little more gripping area. Very dense (complicated) menus, but I mostly shoot auto anyway, which makes great pics 9... Show More

Nice improvement. Great lens.
I believe my photos are sharper than my previous $300 Sony. I wish the telephoto was a bit greater. Owners manual is pathetic. Still cant figure out some features, like the Control Ring.

Excellent camera...
As a professional photographer who has owned medium cameras, including a Rolleiflex and Pentax 645, and Canon 5D cameras, I was looking for a small and compact point and shoot camera to take everywhere. I realized that I was missing many excellent photo opportunities because of the bulk of the serious cameras I was lugging around. After reading reviews for a couple of months, especially looking at specs and sample images, I took the plunge and bo... Show More

smudge on every photo, required expensive repair
Early in tenure, smudge on every photo, thought sensor, not user-serviceable, ended up needing lens replacement, $240 repair/shipping for $750 hardly used and treated well camera, absurd. Afraid to take outdoors.

Almost everything I need in a small camera
This camera beats all my expectations. Even in auto mode it evaluates the correct scene most of the time and gets the exposure correct. The only think I have found a little lacking is the the zoom length. There are times I do wish it had more. But for travel and scenery where you are mostly wide angle, and people pictures it is fantastic.

Makes a pro out of a novice
I'm not an experienced photographer or videographer and I need to perform some Video logging for my job. This camera is small and easy to handle and operate and provides great quality footage. It makes it easy to do a good job.

Great experience
I had a RX100 which I loved and now decided to buy this RX100 III. Have used during a 1 month trip. It was an amazing experience, except for it showing a bug a couple of times. It didn't persist though, so I'm still happy with it.

Best pocket sized camera ever
Have downsized over the years and my last camera was a 1 pound Lumix G6 which I loved. But traveling with a strap around my neck and a bag on my belt became old fast. I became envying my wife pocket Point and Shoot but I needed something higher tech. The RX100 has all the bells and whistles of my Lumix Mirrorless camera and more in a truly pocketable camera. I am thrilled at having a top of the line camera in my pocket. The price is steep but I think it will be wth it.

Perfect pocket camera for me
My wife and I travel quite a bit. My primary camera is a full frame SONY A7 and a growing collection of expensive (and heavy) lenses. On those days that I end up shopping or just touristing the RX100 is always in my pocket. Most of my shots take full advantage of the many automatic features of the camera with the ability to fairly easily 'tweak' camera settings when I need or want to The only reason that I did not rate the camera a 5-star, is I wish that it had a bit more reach. 24-70 is more than adequate for 95% of what I do, but 24-100 would bump that to 99%. A great camera.

Good alternative to my DSLR when I want a small camera.
As a pro, this was a downgrade from my DSLR, but with the Zeiss lens, the results are surprisingly good for a point and shoot. I love being able to carry it in my purse or pocket and get good results, but for a professional shoot would still use my Canon Mark II. Converting the RAW files was a challenge which required upgrading the operating system on my IMAC.

Great little camera.
Starting with the Cons: a bit heavy for a point-and-shoot, and as was described, lacks an often times wished for greater telephoto reach - only goes to 70. Pros: gives great images under a variety of lighting conditions - I wanted it mainly for low light indoor images and it performs well. Has a lot of features, many of which I am still learning about. Pleased with my purchase.

Great camera
I used this product for a trip to Australia. Took high quality photos and I am not good with technology, but this camera is great. Also super easy to transfer photos to phone.

A small gem for work and play
I can hardly count all of the wonderful pictures I have taken with this camera. It's small and light enough that I can carry it everywhere, but it also takes great-looking pictures. The zoom range and the flash are just enough to be effective. I work in PR and I have used this camera for countless social media posts, portraits, videos and more. Sony's wireless app for transferring pictures is clunky but it's good enough (I have an iPhone and I wonder whether NFC would provide a better experience for android users). My DSLR sits on the shelf thanks to this camera.

A Little Powerhouse
I came to the RX100 line from a Nikon D7100 mainly looking for a much smaller package to casually carry all the time. Since purchasing the RX100 about a month ago I have done just that. I take it with me almost literally everywhere as it fits wonderfully in a jacket pocket. My first impression was that it was too small and fragile but I have come to realize this robust little RAW shooter fits the bill wonderfully for anyone that is used to the po... Show More

Probably better than I am giving it credit for
I am a point and click user and need it for my work. I am not the most experienced user and use automatic settings. Size, speed are awesome. Quality is good although I have still not figured out how to optimize my pictures in my bad light settings. I am not happy with the wireless features. They are a bit cumbersome and I m not the biggest fan of their sony software that is required for syncing. Maybe this will change as I gain more experience.

Best Compact Camera for My Needs
Excellent camera, especially for the size. Fits in a pocket but shoots great photos. Does alright in low light but not as good as larger sensor cameras of course. Wish the zoom range extended further on the long end, maybe to 100 or 120mm but it's totally usable as it is.

very satisfied and the price is right
The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating was because I've only had the camera for a couple of weeks and haven't had time to try out all of the bells and whistle that I know are there. For the limited use I've put the camera to I very definitely give it 5 stars and am sure that will be my final rating.
