Samsung 500GB T5 Portable Solid-State Drive (Red)
Great product
I ordered two of these. One would not format out of the box, but B&H was awesome (as always) and exchanged it for another without hassles. I use them as backups for a couple of laptops and they work great. As SSDs they can take a little more abuse than a regular drive which is helpful. Fast and easy to use. Highly recommend.

Seems great... time will tell.
Truly small, lightweight, well built and very fast. Perfect for the purpose for which I purchased it! These are still kind of expensive, but for serious, portable audio/video project work they're wonderful. Now, I just hope it proves reliable for a long time. The case IS very solid, and no moving parts, so fingers crossed.

Compact yet big enough in terms of capacity
Another external hard drive in a long list of hard drives I have used. This SSD will be used for portable storage and what's not to like. Small footprint, light weight and the SAMSUNG name. USB 3.1 and the appropriate speed boost. To be honest none of my external drives over the past 5 years or so have given any trouble.

Peace of mind for your data
The T5 is an essential item in my bag. As an independent filmmaker and photographer, my camera gear is replaceable but not the moments I have captured, so I get my peace of mind by having this little piece of indispensable tech with me always on planes, trains, automobiles, rickshaws, boats and pack donkeys. Fist-bump!

Product Performs a expected
I do a lot of global travel via bicycle with camera equip. therefore very concerned with weight and bulk over price. This is so much lighter smaller and quicker than the HD's I was using to store images redundantly. So, far performs as expected, actually, quicker than expected. I would reccomand this Samsung product.

High Performance Back-Up
This drive, hardly larger than a credit card, delivers super fast back-up performance. Using two of these I was able to evacuate ahead of hurricane Dorian with every critical computer file in my system, all in a very small package. Also great for an offsite backup in your bank safety deposit box. Worth every penny!

Works great!
I use this SSD as my primary drive to store my images. This drive is of course backed up by a cloud service and another hard drive I keep locked up. I have not had any issues with the drive, it worked on my iMac right out of the box. Its fast and stable. My only minor complaint is I'm unable to rename the drive.

FAST!
I already have T5 512gb, wanted the 2TB version and it works great! I got a new case that I can store both in and the cables. It was only a little bigger than the single case. Overall, Samsung has done a good job, you get the USB 3.1 cable and USB -C cable, you can format for Windows or Mac. What's not to like.

Fast and, So Far, Reliable
Have only had this for a few weeks. Using it as an external drive connected to my MacBook Pro to make a back-up copy of photos as I travel. It has performed flawlessly so far. Download and upload speeds are fast (much faster, of course, than a spinning disk). The price seems reasonable for what you are getting.

To date: unbeatable!
As fast as my internal mbp ssd (Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB), only 51g (1.8 oz),USB-A, USB-C,very useful for photographers like me. A few days ago it fell to the ground from anappreciable height and nothing happeneddespite the tinny noise... Pricey? sure, but how long will it be reliable? That is the question.

MacOS Time Machine
I formatted this drive to be a MacOS Time Machine for a 2018 Mac Mini Core i5. I like the USB-C connection and speed. The first backup was much faster than previous USB based drives, but not by orders of magnitude, i.e., it still took over an hour for the first backup. Incremental backups are very quick.

I recently purchased iMac and am using this SSD as my file storage unit. It is very reliable and portable that I can easily plug it off from my iMac and plug it in to my laptop or other computers at my work place. I actually bought two of these to use one of them as a backup. I highly recommend this.

tiny and fast Samsung 500GB T5 portable drive.
Works right out of the box and appears to write very fast, nothing to compare it to yet except classic spin hard drives, and there's no comparison there. Using for photo manipulation and goes back and forth between computers from USB to thunderbolt. It's also very small for a 500GB portable, love it!

Portable Drive
It turned out to be exactly what I expected except for speed. I found it no faster than my WD elements drive. The cost between the two is about the same but elements has 4 times the storage. Note Elements is not a SSD. The Samsung is smaller and fit nicely in a shirt pocket. I would but it again...

I have two of these now...
All the good they say about this SSD has been true for me. I have two of these 500gb models, the oldest of which is almost a year old. That older one was well worth the $160 I paid for it then and even better, the second one (purchased in November 18) cost only $100. You cant go wrong with the T5.

Great for the size
Excellent product by Samsung and a real bargain for the money. The only thing I am missing is some protection on the casing itself. Also if you use BMPC4K would recommend buying a 2TB one, since it can record little more than an hour in full quality on this drive and that might not be enough.

Very compact, fast, and reasonably priced
This is a great little drive to carry with you on the go. It is fast, and is such a small size. I don't have to worry about dropping it, as it has no moving parts. I have it encrypted and carry all my important documents with me on it, that I may need if I am ever out. Well worth the price!

Easy, fast.
Just had this a couple weeks but it works just as advertised. I edit videos in Final Cut Pro X and I can connect this drive to my MacBook Pro for when I'm on the road away from my Mac Pro. I keep the FCPX libraries on the drive and don't notice any performance issues for smaller projects.

Great drive; very fast
This is a great storage drive; it is super fast! If you have a Mac, you need to go to Samsung's site and download the updated firmware and you will be all set! Some people said that it doesn't work with a Mac; that is not true. You just need to download the new firmware on Samsung's site

Connection is bad
I spent a lot of money on four of these. DO NOT BUY THIS SSD. At least with USBC connection it is horrible. If you move the computer 3 inches to show someone something on your computer it disconnects. Then I called Samsung to complain about the product and after 7 agents I just gave up.

Super portable with speed
First, I really like the ExFat formatting right out the box. This will allow you to read and write across Windows and Mac platforms, a feature which is important for me. Second, its so small and consumes little power when your computer is on battery. I have 2 and see a 3rd in my future

Impressive
So much storage so little space. It comes with two cables (USB and USB-C). Able to partition it on a Mac. Only owned it a month but I work off of it daily and its zippy, theres no perceptible lag. I connect with USB 3 and see read and write speeds just above 400 MB/s. Very nice drive.

small and fast
Very convenient and appears to be well made. Much faster than any thumb drive Ive used. On Windows shows up as an internal drive so you should shut down before connecting or disconnecting. On Linux shows up as a SCSI drive which can be mounted or unmounted while the system is running.

I purchased this T5 500G to upgrade my T1 250G which has been used for about 2 years. T1 works well and is very reliable. And T5 is even better in terms of speed, connection and design. Also very happy with the service provided by B & H, all process runs smoothly, absolute no hassle.
