I dont recommend this for Dell PCs with plastic caddies

Feb 11, 2019

I bought this to put a 2.5 SSD in a Dell 7010 mini tower. 3 issues with this caddy when using with a Dell that has plastic 3.5 hard drive caddies with pins, not screws that go into the side of the hard drive. 1. The pins did not fit into the holes, I had to drill them out ever so slightly. 2. Once I drilled out the holes, the adapter would work in the Dell caddy, but the SSD now sits much further back in the caddy than the 3.5 drive did. 3... Show More

Could have been better

Dec 29, 2019

This bracket mounting holes did not line up with the holes in my computer case. The hole placement did not take into account the thickness of the sheet metal in my cases drive bay drive floor so all of the mounting holes rode above the holes in my bay. I almost gave up and then pulled the front of the case off to see two more holes that were on the visible drive closeout. Those hole were higher and I could get one fastener on each side of the bra... Show More

Not Compatible with 2009 Mac Pro

Jan 3, 2019

I bought two of these so I could put 2.5 SSDs into the 3.5 drive bays of my 2009 Mac Pro. I chose Pearstone because the price was very reasonable, but these adapters arent wide enough to fit into the Mac Pros drive tray mounting slots. They also arent long enough to reach the internal SATA ports. There is already a review that says these arent compatible with the iMac, but they also arent compatible with Mac Pro Tower systems. Needless to say, I returned these and ended up buying the OWC drive trays, which are specifically designed for the Mac Pro Tower.

SSD for my raid enclosure

Jun 6, 2018

So i have a lot of 2.5 spinning hard drives and SSD drives. You will find a lot of those smaller drives in laptops. I use them for my Atomos recorder as well so I keep them around. I also have some raid enclosures that use 3.5 drives and this allows me to mount it inside using any of my SSD or laptop size drives. I used some of these style brackets before when I had my Aluminum Body MacPro. Bottom line is If you have a larger enclosure on your computer or usb enclosure then all you need is this in expensive bracket to make it fit.

I should have bought these first!

Aug 15, 2019

When I installed two SSD's I made my own adapters from some light sheet metal which kept coming loose from the quick fasteners that came with the PC case. These adapters fit perfectly and are rigid. I wound up using the screws (8) that were supplied with the adapters as the pins on the quick mounting pieces were too big for the holes. The screws hold better anyway. So don't be a cheap-sake and spend a couple of bucks!

OK for a Dell Optiplex 7010

Jan 5, 2020

Fit tight but worked, not really a precise stamping, kinda difficult to install in Dell plastic HDD holder. Just had to take my time to line up the rubber washers, screws were correct and it had acceptable clearance for the wires...etc. I would recommenced but you need to take your time with the plastic Dell holder, pretty good for the price. ps. It is painted steel and not aluminum, screws are chrome plated steel.

Needs a file.

Sep 20, 2019

The holes on the side of the adapter were a little too far apart to accommodate the sliding rail for installation inside the computer case. The adapter is metal and not plastic. I used a small tapered triangular file to make one hole on each side of the adapter a little longer to the middle of the adapter. This worked fine and I was able to install the adapter with the SSD. But this is too much work for the price.

You are going to need this

Nov 12, 2019

If you buy an SSD to replace the HDD in your computer, a bracket of some sort will be needed to hold the SSD in place otherwise the SSD will just flop around inside your computer case. If you have a laptop, ignore everything after good morning as this is intended for a desktop computer. It comes with the screws needed to hold everything in place.

Didnt fit Mac

Feb 21, 2019

This adapter did not fit my 2012 iMac. The screw holes on the sides were too small to accept the metal posts from the old SATA drive that plug in to the rubberized mounting points hat connect the old hard drive to the computer. I had to rig up a solution that will not last.

A basic bracket to mound 2.5 SSD to older 3.5 slot

Dec 21, 2018

If you like me only need to mount one 2.5 SSD into a 3.5 slot, then you dont need a fancy bracket. This low cost yet practical bracket will do fine. But if you need to mount more than one 2.5 SSD into a single 3.5 slot, then this one will not work.
