All round excellent camera

Jun 3, 2016

First let me say that I consider myself an advanced amateur and tend to do more landscape photography than anything else. I am also long time fan of Olympus products for the combination of compact size and excellent optics. In fact the first camera I ever bought myself was an OM-1 (way back when). The camera I was using before this was an E-30 and I loved every aspect of it except for size and weight. Basically a full kit with 3 lens filters etc ... Show More

Impressive little camera

Apr 14, 2016

BQ: I am very impressed by the build quality. It has metal dials that feel nicer than probably any other camera I have used. The body is Magnesium alloy, and it has a nice weight to it without being to heavy or to light. I was also blown away by how you can customize so many buttons and the dials as well. I'll Briefly list the other pros about it. Ergonomics: It feels pretty good in the hands especially for a smaller grip. My only gripe with the ... Show More

An awesome assortment of lenses at an incredible value

Apr 13, 2016

I bought this kit because I simply wanted everything I needed in the way of lenses for the OMD micro 4/3 cameras in one bag so to speak. I've used all of these lenses, each lens is sharp, fast, and easy to use. As with any zoom lenses, there are some trade-offs, so far, from what I have observed, these trade-offs are minimal considering the quality of these lenses. The camera, OMD-EM5 Mark II, is a significant improvement over the original EM5, a... Show More

Versatile and Lightweight

Apr 6, 2016

I recently converted over to using the OM-D E-M5 II as my primary camera. I'm an avid hiker in Colorado, and I tend to find myself on 8-12 mile hikes every weekend or so. I go hiking year-round, so I needed a camera (and lens) which was lightweight and weather-sealed. Before this camera, I had been using an entry-level Nikon DSLR setup, and I found myself either not taking the camera on outings or leaving it in my pack. I began borrowing my wife'... Show More

OM-D E-M5 Mark 2 Camera Review

Mar 30, 2016

1. I'm avid adventurer and traveler thus carrying this camera is amazing because of how light it is! My genre of is landscape and travel photography. 2. I love the 5-axis stabilization. I have taken shots at 2 seconds (most) handheld and there was very little shake in the result. The photo quality is undoubtedly professional like. The weather sealed body is definitely an advantage as I have taken shots under the rain and there wasn't any damage t... Show More

A massive improvement on an amazing tool

Mar 22, 2016

My previous iteration of this camera (the OMD EM5 mark 1) lasted through three years, 150k frames and shot on 5 continents. Rugged as all get, that camera has been bumped, scraped, splashed and routinely shaken silly during mountain bike rides. Aside from a shutter replacement at around 100k shots and some finicky behavior out of the mode dial, it still works like a champ. Enter the Mark ii. It is obvious that Olympus looked at every gripe and wh... Show More

Secret weapon of pro photo and video shooters

This camera does so many things right. There is probably more technology packed into its tiny body than anything else this size that's every been made. While you can set it in iAuto mode and snap away, and it has all the trendy art settings and such, this to me is a pro's machine, with more options than you will ever use. I bought it for use a small, stabilized platform to shoot video with. With a good selection of lenses (or even one high qualit... Show More

Excellent Upgrade

Feb 28, 2016

I have used an OM-D E-M5 since 2012 primarily for family, nature and landscape photography. The Mark II streamlines many of the things I love about the original with the new function switch and better dial placement and programming. The only thing that has not improved is the ability to photograph my sons playing hockey. I can obtain great action photos but it takes work with no significant improvement in focusing ability from the original.

Outstanding stabilization

Feb 17, 2016

I find that the 5 axis stabilization is amazing for hand-held shooting. Noise is quite low, too. Use in the field, with the camera's and lens lighter weights, has made photography fun again. Although, if you use this camera with only its basic controls, it isn't difficult to learn, the menu system and the vast number of options, make for a very complex camera to master. It would be a great improvement, if the sensor had more pixels. Maybe in the future edition.

Great Camera but beware of using UHS II cards

Feb 1, 2016

This is a pretty great little camera once you get to know it. The major issue I had is that it corrupted a Lexar 1000x UHS II card, losing an afternoon's material for a client shoot. The card became unmountable and would not be recognized by any card reader. According to a rep from Olympus USA, their cameras do not support the UHS-II specification despite language implying otherwise in the camera manual and on the Olympus website, not to mention ... Best Camera Upgrade

Jan 18, 2016

This camera, the Olympus O-MD E-M5 II, is a major upgrade for me, with my former camera being the, Olympus E-PL5, a very good camera, too. I haven't had the E-M5 II very long, but since I already had an Olympus E-PL5, I was very familiar, for the most part, with the menu system and other functions. For me, the E-M5 II's IS (Image Stabilizing) mechanism was a huge factor in deciding on this camera. The ability to be able to capture images in lower... Show More

got my love back

I am a semi-retired pro photographer. When everything went digital I reluctantly sold my beloved OM-D film camera systems and started using a Canon EOS 7D. Fantastic little camera

Jan 8, 2016

I've had this camera for about a month and half now and I am very pleased with its performance. Image stabilization is outstanding. Great EVF. Good video performance, not 4K, but still good. Image quality is excellent for a micro 4/3 sensor. Easily surpassing many cameras with larger sensors. As far as other people complaining about its high ISO performance, I found I can get very nice 8x10's at ISO 10,000 if you process from the raw file. I incl... Show More

Fantastic upgrade

Dec 30, 2015

I love this camera, and I loved the OM-D EM-5, I was nervous about the upgrade but it performs marvelously. The 60fps video with stabilization feels like your own personal steady-cam. The processor is extremely fast, as is the auto-focus. And the stills turn out fantastic with bright, warm, film-like colors. The camera feels rugged enough to take anywhere (and I recommend the grip, I use that as well).

Incredible Instrument for Creatives

Dec 30, 2015

Having owned the Olympus E-System since its inception of the E1, this OM-D EM5 MKII is simply phenomenal. There are so many superlatives I could award this camera but to name just a few-- Focus Peaking and Focus Magnification for non digital {old school analog lenses} opens the use of those retired lenses back into my hands for the first time in over 10 years for the mere and slight cost of a adaptor. I'm thrilled with this new imaging instrument for my photography.

Bought this as a lightweight alternative for when I don't want to carry my full frame dslr and heavy glass. It replaces a Sony 4-100888 which was ok, but not sturdy and just plain dull to shoot with. Awesome upgrade from E-M5

Dec 2, 2015

This will now be my main camera body with my E-M5 handling back up duty. Coming from a Nikon D2x and all the 2.8 zooms MFT is just amazing. Firstly these cameras have so many cool features. HDR, Live bulb, with firmware 2.0 we have focus stacking. Their size and weight are so liberating. The in body image stabilization is almost witchcraft. The only real drawback I see in this camera is focus tracking of subjects moving toward you.
