A keeper for sure.

May 3, 2017

I bought into the Olympus mirrorless system originally with an E-P5, added a few lenses, then an E-M1, and finally couldn't resist moving up to the E-M1 Mk. II. This camera is fantastic. Focus accuracy is spot-on, IBIS is extremely effective, the ergonomics are extremely well thought out, the size and balance are comfortable for long periods, and the flexibility of the menus allows pretty much any configuration you could want. Great camera but suffers poor reliability and perfornace

Apr 28, 2017

I have been a photographer for over ten year and have been searching for a compact lite weight camera that addresses my shooting needs. My current DSLR camera is some what heavy and suffers from mirror slap (internal vibrations) in continuous shooting mode (C-AF mode). The Olympus Mark 2 had outstanding reviews and per their advertisements would meet my shooting needs. I was very excited when I received my Mark 2 along with the 12-100 f4 and 300 ... Show More

The Love Is Back!

Apr 12, 2017

I started in the 70s with the Olympus OM system, for its outstanding glass, strong macro support, and diminutive size and weight. I reluctantly continued with the 4/3rds cameras, mainly because of the strong support for all my legacy OM glass. But I wondered why I wasn't taking many pictures any more. I looked at my HUGE, HEAVY E-3 with the HUGE, HEAVY 50-200 lens, and knew the answer. I'd always thought that it wasn't a real camera unless I coul... Show More

Terrific Upgrade From Mk I

Apr 11, 2017

I have owned two E-M1 Mk I bodies since they came out over three years ago. I had replaced Canon gear that was becoming too heavy for me to travel with. I had tried a Leica M9 for its size and weight but wanted zoom lenses, auto focus and telephoto abilities. The E-M1's gave me all of that and I have been quite happy with the Oly system. I bought the Mk II in December when it first came out and have shot about 5,000 photos so far. I couldn't be h... Show More

An excellent camera. I upgraded from E-M5, 1st version.

Mar 31, 2017

I only wish it had Scene options, like in the previous version. Hopefully, will be in a future Firmware upgrade. But other than that, image quality is excellent. Video features are excellent too. My main reason for upgrading is the ability to change exposure manually while filming in video. Previous Olympus cameras require to stop filming to change exposure.

Technological Marvel!

Mar 30, 2017

This camera rocks! As a 'stills' shooter, there isn't much this camera 'can't' do. The specs and features speak for themselves. On one area of improvement needed would be with 'continuous focus' in 4k mode. Also, need to have 'auto ISO' when in Manual mode, while recording. Suspect these issues will be resolved through firmware updates. See this camera with all the 'Pro' series lenses purchased, to pretty much be all I'll need for quite some time.

Very pleased.

Advanced amateur. I have had the mark II for 18 days and have taken 447 photos. I have only used it paired with the 40-150 f2.8 PRO and EX 14 extender. Most photos are birds. This combination is excellent for my use. Focus is very quick and accurate. I also have an E3 and an M1 - the mark II is a significant step up in performance. The similarity of controls with the M1 make the transition easy. The only negative (minor) is proximity of replay button with menu button - I sometimes press menu rather than replay. Overall I am very pleased with the mark II and look forward to using its features.

This is a Great Camera!

Mar 18, 2017

I bought this after having the OMD-1 for a while, wondering if there would be enough differences. So far I am quite happy with the purchase. It has more megapixels than the original and the shutter works so smoothly.. The focusing is noticeably faster on the Pro lenses and focus stacking and bracketing is more accessible.

A Professional Camera

Mar 17, 2017

This is the best Micro-4/3 camera I have owned. I own four others, all Panasonics, of various ages. While there is a steep learning curve for its operation, vs the Panasonic cameras, I will get used to it and the rather fussy menu system. I really like the small size of the camera for its professional build quality - it's a tank! The battery lasts a long time. I shoot other equipment including professional Nikon and Hasselblad cameras and lenses.... Show More

Genius successor to my much beloved E-M1

Mar 16, 2017

The new E-M1 Mark II is a more than worthy successor to my still in service E-M1. It is faster, quieter and in many respects easier to use than the original. There have been postings that the menu structure is difficult but I did not find this to be the case. There are certainly more menu items but the menu structure is familiar and presents a very similar submenu navigation. The resolution is noticeably improved as is the noise management. Signi... What New Can Possibly Be Said At This Point?

Mar 16, 2017

With the purchase of my first generation E-M1 I was pleased, and used it primarily as a travel camera and keep-in-the-car-at-all-times camera; but I also kept my Nikon DSLR system that I have upgraded repeatedly since my days at the Florida Flambeau paper with an F3. Now with Olympus' upgrade in the E-M1Mark II, the more complete release of the PRO lens line, subsequently viewing output on a 5K screen, and some spectacular output to printer testi... Show More

I would definitely buy this camera again and again.

Mar 12, 2017

The second I wrapped my hands around this camera I knew that I loved it. It balances extremely well in my hands regardless of the lens I have on it. It feels very different from the EM5 Mark II which I also own--definitely more substantial. The mechanical shutter is very smooth and soft-sounding. I'm still working with the camera and haven't really tested it out yet but the images I'm getting are very good.

Best upgrade so far

Mar 7, 2017

I have been using the Olympus four/thirds system for some time. Each new model has been an improvement over the last, but this Is an improvement on a new scale. The stabilization is great, and it's great to be able the to select exactly what kind of stabilization you need for a particular shot. The new pro capture is providing amazing shots for me. This camera has much to offer the pro or advanced amateur photographer...and it is just plain fun to use.

I will be adding a second body shortly

Mar 6, 2017

I use this as a travel system over my Canon gear when I travel by air. The mark II body is a very capable and robust unit that fits the needs of my travel with decent resolution, compact handling, and a good selection of solid lenses. The stabilization system is a very powerful aid to travel photography where one tries to reduce the reliance on a tripod to get those unique spontaneous images. I hope a firmware update will allow more release modes when using auto expose bracketing, currently only high speed mechanical shutter is supported which induces shake with longer lenses.

IT'S A SHARP CAMERA. ABLE TO HANDLE THE RAIN W/O ANY PROBLEM. FOCUS FAST & PERFORM WELL. THE ONLY THING IS THAT WHEN SHOOT LONG EXPOSURE, IT WILL TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS THE EXPOSURE TO DO THE NOISE REDUCTION IF YOU DON'T TURN IT OFF.

Amazing camera; with lightening fast focusing

Feb 1, 2017

Amazing camera body with many custom features. The included 35 page manual needs to be supplemented by printing out the full double sided 200 page online manual.Look at the Olympus teaching videos..They are very helpful. Then be prepared to spend quality time with this camera learning all of it's features. The body is light weight and very ergonomic. However the new Olympus 12-100 mm F4 IS lens is very heavy ; suggest you look at it before purchase. Fast 2 hour charger included but suggest you get several more batteries. And buy the 128GB type 11 SD card if you plan on doing a lot of video.

Stabilization a wonder!

Jan 12, 2017

As others have mentioned the menus are quite complex and different than the 1st gen EM1. However the Super Control Panel has brought in several features that allow you to avoid most of the menus. Settings in the Super Control Panel is an example. I'm disappointed that the ProCapture Mode will only work on OLY lenses. So those looking at or owning the Panasonic/Lumix 100-400 lens will be disappointed. Huge gains in noise reduction, focus speed and stabilization make this a true professional grade camera.

Jan 11, 2017

I have only had the EM-1 mark II for about a week, and the weather here has been inclement, and is now getting worse, so I have only had a very short experience with the camera. I can say that it has great potential over the EM 1, and is much quieter. The shutter is whisper quiet, and the new battery/grip is a big boost over the other one. Great product Olympus, keep up the good work.

Fantastic upgrade from my old EM5

Jan 10, 2017

I fell totally in love with the OMD m4/3 system a few years ago when I bought an EM5 as a smaller, lighter travel camera (vs. my Nikon D7100) and it quickly became the camera I always reached for. For a while I had been debating an upgrade to an EM1, but decided to wait for the mark II, despite the significant price tag. So I sold all my Nikon gear and went 100% Olympus OMD and with zero regrets. The new body solved the one last reason I held on ... Show More
