The Senn IE 4s are my favorite ear phones. First the sound is spectacular rivaling and even surpassing most of my over the ear headphones and If positioned properly they will rival or at least equal even the most expensive Senn over the ear including the HD600, 650s and others of which I have several for studio work and or what ever is the current flagship. Red Ears
The sound quality of the IE 4's are quite decent. I agree that they are quite uncomfortable though; I think mostly because the the plastic tips--you have to jam them in your ear to get them to stay. Yes, there are 3 different tip sizes included, but I've tried them all and none of them work well. I would submit that the IE 4's are definitely worth looking at for the low price, but you may want to consider trying to find some after market foam tips to make them fit better in your ear.

I love my Ie 4
I had the Westone UM3X in-ears and I have to say that my new IE4's blow out of the water. I use them on tour with my band and have to say that nothing comes close to these in-ears.

Decent...you do get what you pay for.
I currently use the Sennheiser IE3 in ear monitors which arenow only available as part of a wireless system. Talk aboutincredible sounding. It sounds great with the SennheiserIE3 driver in custom ear molds.I naturally assumed that the IE4's would be about the same. I was wrong. They sound about the same as a Shure E2 and Iwas not pleased. They are also uncomfortable.If you've only got $80, it is an ok buy...but notrecommended otherwise. Problems Encountered: Uncomfortable and somewhat imbalanced in tone. Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Sennheiser IE3 Items I Recommend: Better Monitors

Great BASS Very Good Mids And Treble
The SENNHEISER IE 4 earphones give great Bass.The sound is clear and crisp.I bought these buds for my COWON D2.I also tried CX 300 but specially Bass is better than CX 300.Also Mids and Treble.For this price you can buy another brand isolation earbuds they may be more successful on isolating but i can say that sound that Sennheiser IE 4 give is better than the phones in this price range.
