Great Lens for the money

Feb 20, 2017

This is a great lens for the money. I'm getting nice sharp pictures with it and compare to SonySEL70200G70-200 lens that every one likes it looks like my pictures are the same quality. I do have theSEL70200G 70-200 lens but for every day use I will stick with 24-240. The G master are over priced for my packet and I just use for hobby and not Pro...

Really sharp for the range

Jan 30, 2017

Used on a7r ii. This is the first lens I don't have any real issues with. 24-240 is a massive range. It really is wonderful travel despite being heavy (talk about later) It's not the best for low light, but with a7r ii I can push it a bit more. Not as much as a prime, but still quite nice in my opinion. I find it very sharp throughout all focal ranges. I was very surprised by how sharp it is even though it has a massive range. I love it!

It is definitely not the sharpest lens out there but its a great travel lens and it does its job. It performs very well in good lighting condition. All I have to say is good things about this lens comparing to price.

A must for travel

Dec 11, 2016

Bought this as my only lens to bring in trips from now on. With the A7R II's ISO performance this lens will do just fine for most of your travel needs. As long as you have a tripod. Quality of images is great so far. A bit slow sometimes focusing but mainly in low light conditions. Overall a great flexible way to pack 24-210mm in a relatively compact and light lens.

so so lens

Oct 13, 2016

While waiting for the next batch of the sony 70-200 f/2.8 lens to be released I thought I would try this lens on my a7ll. Maybe I received a defective lens, but comparing shots head to head with my walk around 35mm f/2.8 lens and an old 200-400 canon lens, I did not find the images sharp. With any magnification photos were very soft. To be fair, since acquiring the sony a7 I have mostly been shooting with prime lenses, the 35mm and the new 85mm f/1.4 which is pretty tough competition, but what I gained in range with the new lens I definitely lost in image quality. I sent it back.

All Around

Aug 5, 2016

OK. I ill give you the fact that this isn't the best lens in the world, but for me it's great. I am your average, little old lady photographer who doesn't aspire to greatness. I mostly shoot landscape photos, or impersonal shots of people. I started with a Cannon 20D,moved on to a Cannon 5DII which I loved. But it didn't love me. Health reasons required me to pair down the weight I was carrying around my neck, so the Sony A7R was my next camera. ... Show More

Way Better than Expected

Jul 18, 2016

I've used similar lenses before in the past and know their pros and cons. This one used on my A7RM2 surpassed my expectations. I found it sharp at all settings! Yes even at 240mm I took head shots got crisp focus and beautiful bokeh. And shot at its closest setting (you also zoom to 240mm!) with great results. It's not built for low light but still worked for me. Disneyland, fireworks, handheld in rain storm. Perfect shots at 1/50th a sec! Wow! S... Show More

Great Multi-Use Lens

Jun 7, 2016

When I first took my camera for a stroll, i thought I would be using the 28mm lens a lot more, but for just general travel purpose and taking pictures of friend / family / landscape while site seeing the 24-240mm was more versatile and allowed me to quickly get the shots I wanted with out having to changed lenses.

Great with Sony a6000!

May 6, 2016

Yes, it is an FE lens, but I love my a6000 and have been really happy with this pairing. I chose this over the 18-200 for the extra reach and the ability to use it on a full frame system if I ever decided to go that way. I've had the lens for six months now and have used it in environments ranging from the snow to the desert, it has excelled in all of them. It is a very sharp and produces great colors. It is also quite well-built -- I had to stop... Show More

you have top work with it;s contraints

May 2, 2016

This lens does what one would expect of a super zoom. The raw images are soft and I have set up a preset that delivers a very sharp image. F6.3 is slow so a camera that does high ISO helps. The one sticking point I find is poor close up performance. Using the telephoto end does give some close up performance. In all the lens does what I expected and I would recommend it as a well made somewhat heavy walk around.

Good FE Zoom Lens

May 1, 2016

I use this as my walking around lens. The zoom range isn't as great as my old Tamron APS-C zoom, but the trade off is that it's for a full sensor camera. The pictures are really sharp and the color is good. The only negative is that full frame lenses, for the most part, tend to get heavy and bulky. Other than that, it a very good lens.

One Fantastic Lens

Apr 26, 2016

I have really enjoyed using my Sony A7 but wanted a wider range lens. I have been leery of full frame lenses with a range of wide angle to telephoto, worried about the distortions that my be caused, but I am happily surprised by the performance the Sony FE 24-240MM lens has given me. It is so nice to be able to use one lens most of the time, especially since we do a lot of travelling on vacation. It is heavier and larger than the 28-70mm that came with the camera but it is worth it.

Love it for backwoods hiking

Mar 14, 2016

I don't want to do long hikes with my 24-70 and 70-200 lenses so this will be my new lens for long hikes. So far it fits the bill perfectly. Of course I wish it could open up more than 3.5, but it can't and that seems to be just fine for me when I'm hiking.

The first copy I got of this lens was decentered so was sent back with poor out of focus left side. The 2nd was dead on. First let me say that I extensively tested the lens across it's range. From 24-135mm it is outstanding across it's entire image. Actually superior to the 24-70 f4 Zeiss in decent light. From 135 to 170mm it diminishes very slightly in the corners when stopped down.
