Perfect for my Nex 7
Very sharp pictures and I really like the optical steady shot option. I have a shot of mountains with fog setting at the top with this lens and I am amazed how good it looks. I also like the reasonable price this lens came with.

Sharp zoom lens
I purchased this as part of a Nex-6 system and am glad I did. It's small & light but has a great reach and the images are pretty sharp.

Good performer
This lens is a great addition to the NEX7, great range, good light capturing ability. I found I always wanted to use the fine tuning adjustment on long shots. The autofocus works well, but the slight adjustment really crisped up my shots.

For the birds.
While I've been enjoying my new Sony NEX, I've been unable to catch some of my favorite observations of our fine feathered friends. Now that I have the long telephoto zoom to interchange, I've been able to catch many winter scenes of our local wild birds. The action is great, and focus, both manual and auto, has responded well. I have been very pleased.

I am worried no more...
I travel the world for work and 18 months ago I bought a NEX-7. Shortly after that I went into a quandary... should I spend more and buy the 18-200 or this 55-210? I selected this lens. Why buy go to the extent of buying a small, easy to carry camera and then load it down with a honkingly heavy lens? After some initial regret due to added lens change grumpiness, I have to say that I'm glad I bought the 55-210. I love the OSS (I have a slight hand... Show More

excellent lens
I was surprised by the sharpness of the photos made with this lens, and the speed it focused

Perfect for daily usage
I use this product for outdoor photography. Zoom factor is good enough for most purposes. In low light conditions especially if you are in a moving veichle result is very bad in night.

Decent long telephoto.
Sony doesn't offer, as of yet, a hi-end long e-mount telephoto for their nex system. Because I like the compactness and autofocus capabilities of native lenses I bought this. It did not give me the color pop or contrast of other lenses like Sony's 10-18 ultra wide zoom, Zeiss 24 prime or Sony 50,1.8. Autofocus is slow. Don't expect to use this for sports or wildlife unless the subject is stationary. However, the images are reasonable. I'll contin... Show More

Necessary Lens
For the price, you can't beat any add on lens that you might want for pictures with objects that are further away.

Good lens
General photogaphy (whatever catches my eye) and backpacking are my uses. For my purposes so far it has worked very well, has a nice solid feel to it, and takes quality pictures.

I now take great pictures!
The lens is easy to exchange. Very easy to use especially for a novice. I have no regrets.

Quite satisfactory
I enjoy my nex-6 as an inconspicuous camera, but from time to time wish I had a longer lens. The 18-200 is not inconspicuous, but the 55-210 just fits in the small bag I bought for the camera, so I decided to buy it. I tried it in the field for the first time yesterday, and it works well. Moreover, even with the lens on it, the nex-6 is much less conspicuous than my SLR.

Excellent lens
I have been using this lens for a few months on my Sony Nex-7. Image quality is good througout it's range. Any loss of image quality is only in the corners and extreme edges at the 55mm range and 210mm range. It is a great lens for travel when teamed with the Sony 18-55mm kit lens. With an aperture range of f/4.5-6.3, it is not a low light lens, but with enough light it is a good performer. The OSS stabilization system is an added big plus. I am pleased with this lens, and it's price.

Great lens
I am fully satisfied with this lens. I use it with my Sony alfa nex C3 camera and I was worried it would be too heavy, but it is lighter than I was expecting. My photographs have been turning out great.

I need a telephoto
I need a long lens to go to Africa, but must travel very light due to 35# limit on TOTAL luggage for internal flights within Kenya.

Love this lens
This is not the greatest lens ever but it IS exactly what I wanted and not a bad lens at all. After years of heavy cameras I am putting together a very light kit and this fits the bill perfectly.

happy shooter
This will be my primary lens. For wide angle shots, I merely do panoramas, and they work out quite well. The lens is acceptably sharp to f16, and fantastically sharp to f11. Only the lowest, f4.5 is slightly softer. The only fault I've found is the softness of the left hand 15% of a shot at the mentioned f stops, so 4 stars. I put a Hoya UV filtr on the end, and whether it's that very good filter, or the lens itself, I have NO Lens Flare, even when I try to get some!

Fine for video, not so good for stills
I use this on a NEX-7 that I bought to use as a digital back for my existing lenses. There is significant fringing past about 150mm. I'm not really a zoom shooter, but I have been accompanying my wife on some birding expeditions. She uses a little Nikon P510 that generates much, much better photos than this lens on the NEX-7.That said, these NEX lenses are great for video, where the performance at the widest apertures and maximum extension are not as critical. If you have one of the NEX camcorders, it would be a good addition.

It delivered beyond my expectations
I purchased this lens to complement my NEX-5R with 18-55 to increase my zoom capability. Unlike other reviewers I have found the auto focus good even hand held and using the additional zoom capability in the NEX. Results in low light and night shots have been excellent.

Good lens for the money
This lens has a great zoom range, is light and easy to use. The image stabilization works pretty well and it produces pretty sharp images. My only complaint is how physically long it is, but since it is a long zoom lens, I will have to forgive that. I bought this lens at the B&H store, and their floor model was falling apart a bit-- the rubber rings were loose and floppy, etc. I'm sure that lens gets a worse beating than most single owner lenses, however i'm curious to see how this fairly inexpensive lens holds up over time.

Well Worth The Cost
I use a wide angle zoom lens for 90% of shots, and I got tired of missing shots while tradeing lenses. For awhile I tried carrying two large SLR cameras. The one with the long lens weighed 5.5 Lbs. and was too much for this old man. The new sony NEX-6 with this lens weighs a third of what I used to carry and seems to get the job done well enough for the size, weight and cost. The zoom on this lens is the smootest that have ever felt. Overall build quality is better than I expected at this price.
