Perfect Pocket Cam
I had an LX100 for those times when I needed to carry a smaller and more discreet camera. I loved it. But in the end it just wasn't small enough to come with me all the time. I often found myself with just my phone in situations where I needed more. So, i traded it in and the RX100IV totally fits the bill. Amazing photos and it fits in my pocket without being obtrusive. The HFR slo-mo and 4K video are excellent added bonuses. After just a few weeks, my iPhone has gotten very jealous!

Sweet!
As others have said, there's a LOT of sweetness packed into this small guy. I do recommend getting a book like the one by Alexander S. White to reap the full benefits; it's helped me even though I have a whole line of other Sony cameras. Never have I gotten the full benefits before. This is THE right camera if you want quality images with out wagging around backbreaking heavy gear. I'll be leaving most of that behind now. Wish I'd gotten this long ago instead of the heavier stuff!!!

Happy with RX100 IV
We have the RX100 first version and liked it. But we wanted a viewfinder. We debated rather to get the Panasonic compact camera or this one. What sold me was the slow motion video. It's so much fun. I love the compact size. We added an attachment grip for better handling which helps. I take this camera everywhere. It's easy to use especially for street photography. I also have a Fugi XT1 which I use with a zoom lens all the time. So both cameras compliment each other nicely.

Best little pocket P&S
I've owned the RX100 III and IV now, both are very similar externally but the improvements are great on the IV. I generally use it for travel and find the direct sharing to my iPhone very convenient, so much so that I no longer use the iPhone camera whenever possible. I wish it had the old hotshoe for accessories, and looked a bit more vintage. The selfie mode is great, however, just like on the previous model. I'll keep using this until I get my full-frame camera someday!

Superb Pocket Camera
This camera takes excellent photos and offers all the features I wanted in a pocket sized camera; ie; pop up viewfinder, pop up flash, manual controls and a zoom lens. The menu is fairly easy to navigate and it's low light performance is fantastic.. The biggest drawback is that 70 mm is the maximum zoom. Also the software supplied to convert raw files into a format for post processing has it's weaknesses. I would buy this camera again and overall am very satisfied with it.

Great Camera!
I had been looking for a pocket camera that shot RAW at a high resolution. Many cameras fit these requirements but I was especially attracted by the super slow motion option. I've tested the slow motion a few times and was very impressed with the quality of the video. Coming from a Canon background, the menu takes a little getting accustomed to, but nothing very daunting. It is a good deal heavier than I imagined, but I guess that's because of all the good stuff inside!

Great camera
First use was at Arches National Park and the results were exceptional. All images are so vividly clear. I used many the features of the camera, the neutral density filter was nice during the Utah sun, as being able to change settings with the control wheel to fit the situation.. I purposely left my loaded camera bag home for this test as the camera has a limited zoom, but with the large sensor pp zooming saved lotsa steps. I would highly recommemd this camera

a disappointment for a $900 p&s
It's overall not terrible- pretty advanced features, a menu system I spent months deciphering with the a7rIII, shoots raw and seems to do a decent job. My one main issue is that it CONSTANTLY hunts for focus, never locking on, even in the most clear, well lit situations. I've tried every single focus mode. Ken Rockwell's review mentions this. Still, it manages to get most shots in focus. BUT it makes for a very distracting, unconfident shooting process.

Stunningly excellent camera!
Have numerous professional cameras, but all are large, bulky, and usually somewhere else when I have a great photo moment. This solid, well-made beauty sits in the palm of my hand, is easily programmable for manual use, and take gorgeous still and video images. Was thinking of waiting for the next upgrade, but so happy I pulled the trigger. The most fun I've had in years! Check some of my recent video from this camera in Portland posted on Vimeo. WOW!

Big Issue with this camera
There is a big issue with this camera and Sony should not have released this product! After recording one movie clip in 4K of 5 min and trying to record another clip the camera overheats and auto shuts down. This is unacceptable. You then have to wait a few min for the camera to cool down before you can record in 4K again. I own many 4K camera's and none have this issue. I am very dissapointed with this product and going to return it for a refund.

So far, so good
Early days as I bought the camera about 3 weeks ago, but very positive feedback so far. I bought the Sony as an alternative to my Nikon D7000 which is a bit too heavy to take around in some cases. I was surprised that the DSC-RX100 has at least as many functionalities as the Nikon and setting it up is very easy and user friendly. The only disappointment so far is the battery that seems to have limited capacity Not cheap, but worth the money

Best in its Class! Gem of a camera!
This is an incredible piece of technology. It's hard to imagine how far we come. My first camera had 4 megapixel way back then and it took average pictures. This camera takes fantastic pictures with its fast lens. I use it everywhere since it's so small and pocketable. I bought the grip and it feels more balanced now. It's on the expensive side for sure but I believe it's worth every penny. I'm extremely happy with the Sony RX100 IV!

Love the Speed Priority Continuous Shooting Mode!
Wow! Loving the new RX 100 IV, especially using the speed priority continuous shooting mode. Wonderful feature and every picture is tack shop!! I have the I, II, III and now the IV and the IV is a big improvement over the III! If I were to take a trip and could only take one camera out of all those I own (a lot!), the RX 100 IV would be the one I would carry and know I wouldn't be disappointed. Always dependable and reliable.

Just what I wanted for my upcoming trip overseas.
This replaces my ten year old pocket camera so you can imagine how fun this new camera is for me. It is a lot bigger than my old camera but still comfortable to pocket. I am still learning all of the various special abilities of this thing but the in camera descriptions are a big help. Seems to hold a charge and give me a lot of snaps for a full battery. Seems solid so I expect to keep this at least as long as my last camera.

So far, seems like a great little travel camera
Very light and small, good for travel. Comparing it to my Sony A7, while's it's not a full frame camera, the low-light shots are very good (though, not as good as the A7), the auto focus is quick and accurate, the zoom is a little too responsive (which it was a bit slower), is missing some minor menu features (but nothing that can't be worked around). The viewfinder is adequate. Shutter lag seems to be minimal.

Love this camera!
I got this camera for taking pics and videos in the Galapagos in February. I am fairly new to photography, but I am finding the RX100M4 very user-friendly. Nice size (actually pocketable), amazingly sharp and true images, excellent viewfinder AND LED, and wi-fi. Looking forward to making 4k videos of iguanas and blue footed birdies next month. NOTE: will take extra batteries--battery life is not great.

Expensive, but great camera
This is a quite small camera, fits in your bag or pocket easily. Camera exposition and color are calculated quite accurately even in auto mode. Foto quality is great. The only issues I've found is that it doesn't has an external battery charger, so you need the camera to charge batteries and that in auto mode it tends to prefer low speeds instead of higher ISO, which is not great for people moving.

PERFECT FOR MACRO
I have a Canon G1X with a Canon underwater housing. I bought it not intending to do macro, because I know it's not good for that. On a recent dive trip, I borrowed a friend's Sony RX 100 and I immediately bought it and a FantaSea housing when I got home. I got some amazing images with this camera, and didn't have to spend much time fiddling with controls to get them. Fantastic camera and housing!

GREAT SMALL CAMERA
I use this camera when I don't want to carry my DSLR or when I have a long lens on the DSL and it is inconvenient to change. The 24 70 Zeiss lens is great for most situations, other than wildlife and this camera is very fast. This is my second RX100. I broke my first one in a bike fall and after researching all the available cameras in this class, I came back to the Sony. Love it.

I regret the purchase
This camera can take a nice picture for a pocket camera, but it is not worth the cost. There are some very nice features deep within the menus, but in the field they are tough to see and tougher to get to. We also had to get the entire mother board replaced and while it was covered by Sony, I have never had that kind of problem with another camera. I regret the purchase.

Wouldn't recommend
I bought this as a camera when I sold my T5i as a camera to have expecting to getting something close to my old cameras picture quality but it was no where near. When you zoomed in the smallest bit the image lost so much resolution. And I took a picture and it was so mushy it was unbelievable. My iPhone takes better pictures. Will be only getting DSLRs from now on.

Fast, Accurate Auto Focus - Excellent Pictures
Purchased this camera as a lighter alternative to my 7D but wanted high quality pictures. The RX100M4 delivers. Auto Focus is very fast and accurate (more accurate than my 7D with 15-85mm lens.) I've attached comparison photos taken with the 7D and RX100M4 (two years apart) at Lincoln Birthplace National Park. 100% crops of the RX100 images are very good and sharp.

Excellent Camera
The RX100 IV is one of the best compact point and shoot cameras on the market. It comes down to whether or not you want to justify the cost of this camera. As someone who primarily uses cameras for still photography, it will be hard to find another camera in it's class with similar features. I highly recommend this camera for performance, features and price point.

Easy to use- high quality images
I use this camera each and every day to document work at my school - both in images and in video. No matter what the venue, no matter the lighting this little camera packs so much power! Adjusting for the lighting temperature is easy. I can shoot fully automatic or entirely manual. Flexible and now the addition of 4K video make this the perfect camera for me.
