Wonderful, extremely small camera with great picture qualit.
Does everything I thought it might do. Takes excellent pictures and great features. However it really needs the optional Sony grip because it is so small. Because of its diminutive size, I take it many more places than my other two APS-C sensor size Sony cameras. Great clear pop up view finder.

LITTLE GIANT KILLER!
WHAT A GREAT LITTLE CAMERA. I ALSO HAVE THE RX100M2. LOVE THE VIEW FINDER,CAN SAVE YOUR BACON ON A SUNNY DAY. IT IS A GREAT ADDITION TO MY SONY A6000, A5100 & NEX-7. ALSO LOVE THE SERVICE I RECIVED FROM PATRICK @ B&H PHOTO.

Outstanding
This camera turned out to be much more than I ever expected. It takes excellent, sharp photographs. After weeks of pondering over whether to buy this camera, I admit I made a good decision. I simply love it.

A little bigger than a smart phone but a real camera.
I have a Nikon 810 that I use for more formal landscapes but I also like to have a camera with me all the time. The RX100iii is comparable in size and weight to my iPhone 6+ but it is a serious camera with a 20 MP sensor and a Zeiss lens. It also does RAW image files and is well integrated with Capture One 9. All of this at a price equivalent to buying a new iPhone. Aesthetically, I enjoy the differences that come from taking informal landscapes ... Show More

Best P+S I've ever owned (so far)
I'm a professional photographer, mostly editorial work for publications. Worked 20 years as a newspaper staffer. Now as full time freelancer, I mostly shoot feature stories, travel pieces and a lot of portraits. This is the camera I carry w/me always. Can't tell you how many times I've used it on jobs when I've wanted to be invisible. Besides the compact benefit, the camera does perform like a champ. I shoot RAW mostly manual. Focusing is great, ... Show More

Not impressed
Its an average point in shoot in my opinion, yet I was hoping for a great travel camera ( without having to lug around my Canon 5d M3) . It takes decent pics , but the shutter speed really lags. The video is good in low lighting . The screen, flash, and view fiender that flip out , up etc are very masterfully made. The camera becomes very compact once everything closes up . My concern though is how long will these pieces last ? They are made very... Show More

Not as great as I thought
Camera is okay for a point and shoot. The lens really limits what the camera can do. It would not focus at all on any subject within two feet, rendering the macro mode totally and completely useless. Honestly my iPhone 6 took better photos which is a shame. I wouldn't recommend this camera.

Just about perfect.
Other than a few software annoyances, this is the best point and shoot style camera I have ever used. If you like to set the exposure manually you can do even more.

All that is needed is s SD card and an old camera bag that still looks new to totally enjoy all functionality of this digital camera. The price point is excellent.

image quality
this camera is heavy for a point and shoot and somewhat awkward to use. The screen is not completely utilized to show the image. There is a black bar at the bottom giving f stop, shutter speed and iso. Totally unnecessary. Finally I don't like the images it produces. It emphasizes highlights and oversaturates to the point where details are lost in fusion of color. The autofocus is also slow. My old canon s 95 produced a more pleasing image although the lens on this camera is somewhat sharper.

Great P&S when you don't want to carry your DSLR
Will say one of the best P&S on the market. Auto mode is a blast to use. Switch it to Manual and this is where it shines!. Great feature set and sharp and fast glass!!

A lot quality in a travel size camera
I wanted a small travel size camera that would meet my high quality image standards obtained with my professional gear. This Sony provides outstanding quality for its size. My only comment is that the case included in the kit is a bit too small and fits very tightly.

Hard to Hold, Clunky Viewfinder
The specs and reviews of this camera had me hoping it would be everything I needed in a camera small enough to easily carry everywhere I go yet provide DSLR-like image quality--especially in low light. I'd also purchased simultaneously a Canon PowerShot D5X for my spouse who is a die-hard user of the articulated display that the Sony RX100 doesn't offer. Both of us needed a viewfinder for ease of shooting in bright sunlight. I loved the Sony's ad... Show More

The Bible for DSC-RX100 III
I purchased Alexander White's Book for my new Sony. It is 500 pages of details that has helped me learn my new P&S. Photographers Guide to the Sony DSC-RX100 III I'm an NPS Nikonian using 4 Nikon bodies that have less complicated menus.

The One You'll Use Most
Bottom line: Worth every penny. I prefer my Nikon FX DSLR and nice lenses. But they're bulky to travel. This Sony is the perfect combo of portability and quality. I've tried cheaper pocket cameras from Nikon and Canon. I'll never go back now. Among the selling points: Excellent image quality for a small sensor, flash that's easy and sufficiently powerful to bounce off ceilings, good battery life, EVF when in bright sunlight, full manual controls and smart automatic settings that get that quick snap.

Professional-style camera in small package
There are legitimate reasons the Sony RX100 series of cameras have enhanced the whole world of point and shoot cameras. The RX100 series is wildly popular for good reasons. Sony has built a one-inch sensor and Zeiss lens together with the latest image technology into an attractive pocketable camera. It's a first-class camera for all purposes.

WOW!
Small but powerful; I carry it everywhere. Shoots RAW Set WB, ISO, Burst, Focus mode, f-stop, Zoom, Brackets, Bulb, Flash, ND, Manual, A, S, and auto, and more more, more. Images are as good as my D800e as measured by my Spyder Lenscal. I have 4 Nikon DSLRs but 50% of my images are now SONY. My four Panasonic Point and shoots are with a neighbor, a grandson, the trash and returned to B&H. Never again after dealing with Panasonic repair. I found it: the Sony-Cyber shot DSC-RX100 III

Not as good as I thought it will be...
Pros: Small and easy to carry, pocketable, Awesome built in flash, Good low light performance, ISO upto 5000 usable, Easy to navigate, Good built quality, Adequate battery life, Sharp image. Cons Only in 24mm you'll get f/1.8, by 35mm it's f/2.8 Who should buy This camera is for the person, who doesn't care about DSLR like images, who is upgrading from point and shoot, vloggers. Why I returned There are better options for me in less price as I do street photography and this camera is not fit for my needs.

After One Year of use
I have carried this camera with me constantly for one year, Other than my scratching the LCD from my sometimes carrying it in less than ideal circumstances, it's held up nicely. When I first got this camera I hated the menus. HATED them. Then as I became used to it, and granted this took some time, I'm amazed by what I can do with it. I mostly use manual but if I need a fast shot the automatic features are great. The video is to die for with seve... Show More
