Even better than the A7R III
I own the A7R II, III and the IV. Although many reviewers say that the difference between the III and IV is not huge, I ended up buying the IV due to its snappier response, higher resolution and small improvements here and there. I quite often reframe my photos taken in a horizontal composition. The II and III were great due to the high resolution. Now with the IV, I have a little bit more room to do this. I have a high end workstation and a lo... Show More

From Canon to Sony
At first, I wasn't sure if I should switch from Canon 5Dmk IV to Sony. But not a second of the regret. It is a great camera with a crispy quality. It is a little confusing and frustrating to learn how to deal with a lot of settings in the beginning but afterward, you get used to the settings and enjoying the images.

Solid redesign of a top-shelf camera
There are a lot of megapixels crammed into this little camera, but there isn't much sacrifice involved. I haven't had a chance to make video with it yet, but the body physical redesign with weather seals and more robust feel are very welcome. I'm looking forward to spending more time with it, but very satisfied so far.

Amazing
I wanted to make an impactful purchase rather than incrementally upgrade over time and end up spending more money in the long run. Really excited to use Sony's mirrorless lineup. They are the cream of the crop in the current mirrorless camera market.

Very happy with A7R4.
I have been very pleased with performance so far. Camera is a better fit for large hands than the R3. Menu system is not intuitive but works well once you figure it out. Plan on spending some time mastering this camera as this level of performance is not simple.

Wow!!!
I have been using a very old Canon 60D for the last 7 years. Finally decided to move on to a full frame. Got this on a deal @2499$ and boy o boy. This camera blew off my mind. Tack sharp images. Fast Autofocus and plenty of megapixels to crop. I am not a professional and its just a hobby. I don't regret buying this camera. Awesome camera. Kudos Sony!!!

Sony a7r lV
I recently bought a Sony a7r lV camera along with 85mm and 25mm Zeiss Batis lenses, as well as a Sony 35mm Sonnar Lens. I have used Canon DSLRs for the last 20 years, so this was a very difficult descision for me to go mirrorless. Throughout the entire process, which involved numerous calls to B&H, they were amazingly patient and helpful regarding the many questions a had regarding the camera system and and all the technical inquiries I made. WOW! World of difference.
I am not the photographer. My wife is. We are not experts. This thing makes me feel like I could accomplish greatness. I bought this for my wife, she is in love with it. It replaced her decade old Canon 7D DSLR. When she shows it to her Photog friends they immediately are smitten. Auto focus is amazing and I say that knowing AF is a blaspheme in the industry. But Hey, I am a tech guy not a photog. Spent more on this than anything ever and have no regrets. WOW! Tech Hubby of a Photog.

Great pro mirrorless
I call it a pro mirrorless because 99% of people will never need 61MP, and that crazy high resolution isnt without its drawbacks. Ive shot mine now for a few weeks and a few scenarios. I wouldnt do any serious paying work at higher than 6400 ISO, and at 6400 there is significant noise. I try my best to stay at 1600 or below. Strangely this has more noise than the Fuji GFX 50R. On the other hand, IBIS plus image stabilized lenses means I can handh... Show More

Better than I hoped for.
I was expecting great things out of this camera, but as a landscape photographer, it far exceeded my expectations.

Incredible for sports, wildlife, macro.
If you are a sports and/or wildlife shooter, attach a 100-400GM and prepare to be amazed by the detail in your images. Punching into APS-C mode (still a 26MP file) gives you an effective 150-600 mm lens. The Sony 90mm f/2.8 macro also pairs beautifully with this body. I prefer the 24 MP a7iii or a9 for portraits, street, landscape, etc. as the files are so much smaller and, for my needs at least, the additional resolution of the a7iv is necessary (you, of course, may love the extra resolution in these genres as well.

Claims of near medium format quality.
The A7RIV is every bit as capable as its predecessor and adds features. Rather than repeat what plenty have already noted, it might be useful to address the medium format quality claims and refutations that are circulating about this camera. First, the camera isn't medium format and with a 36 x 24 mm sensor it never will be. However, it does have enormous resolution and capacity to capture brightness range. That enables users to make pictures t... Show More

Simply The Best
This is my second A7r4 as I'm a masochist who always carries two heavy cameras (one with a telephoto and one with a wide lens) It performs wonderfully and the output is superb. I love these colorful hi-rez files.

Bad Auto focus performance. Very disappointed.
Before I give my review about this camera, I have to mention that I'm a Sony A7III owner, and also a D810 owner. I use the Nikon D810 as my event photocamera and the A7III for Movies and Photos as well. Now, since I invested into Sony lenses and felt like it's time to upgrade to the A7RIV, I did the move. But since I got it, only 2 days past and here are the main issues with it: - Does not focus properly in Low light (I'm not talking about focus... Show More

Wanted to love it
To bad this camera doesn't live up to all Sony 's marketing hype . I worked hard learning how to use this camera but in the end i didn't think it was worth $3500 .The auto tracking did lock on reliably as well as the metering was at time over exposed due to back even with the small spot . Perhaps i just got a bad copy but anyways B and H were great about allowing me to return it for a full refund.

A joy to use
I upgraded from the A7R2 for usage in my studio work. I will acknowledge that I had sharp images with the R2. Nonetheless, the R4 has been a joy to use in many ways. Auto focusing now is almost 100% dead on, with relatively few soft shots. And I can tell the camera which cornea to choose. Second, the level of detail in skin and fabric is subtlety but definitely better. No matter how much I crop the shot in post, I can really appreciate the finer ... Show More

Great update
As an owner of Sony mirrorless cameras since their inception, the A7R Iv is a real game changer. For me, it serves all of my needs. I shoot both landscape as well as wildlife. Image quality is excellent. Great for beautiful landscapes Resolving power is superb.. The ergonomics are better than my previous nex 7, A7, and A7Rii. Autofocus is better and more responsive. Love the crop lense feature at 26 megapixels. Nice for bird and wildlife. Eye focus works well. Build quality is overall improved from previous models.

Hard to improve on the A7rM3; but the M4 does it!!
I've had this camera for several months, and am still getting used to all of its advantages. It appears that the color accuracy is also modestly improved. For me, the ergonomics, better continuous tracking and the flexibility offered by larger file size are the main improvements. I find this camera is well suited for wildlife photography as well as for landscapes, and sold both my A7rM3 and A9. So, now I have one go-to camera for everything I pho... Show More
