Faulty Image Stabilization System
Bought this camera and several Sony/Zeiss lenses in February 2015. On a recent trip the camera failed with the message Camera Error. Turn Power off then on. Unable to reset the camera and a Web search indicates that this is a common problem with this model and confirmed by Sony. Have sent the camera for repair under warranty, but I am not hopeful this will not happen again in a few months when the warranty has expired. Other than this, the camera... Show More

Traveling the world with this Camera!
I've been traveling the world for over 6 months with this camera. It's been absolutely superb. Some paint is missing but no problems. Can't wait for 2 more years of it! I typically carry it with the zeiss 35/2.8, which allows it to be VERY light. I am blown away by the claims of horrendous battery life. What are you guys doing? I use this camera every day and I've only ever had to swap batteries when I shot my friends wedding. I can shoot hundred... Show More

Very poor noisy low light performance!
I'm not sure what's all the raves about the A7 series was about but after trying this A7ii for a day I returned it so quickly. My Canon 6D video low light performance at ISO12000 is MUCH cleaner than this A7ii at 6400ISO. It is unbelivably noisy at ISO10000. My hope was so high on this camera to replace the 6D for travelling and weight saving but....keep trying Sony, you're heading the right direction but still not there yet.

it's a toy, feels more like a PS video game than a camera
I want to start with that I do not own this product and only spent couple of hours, very limited time with it. Last 5 years I shot almost exclusively landscapes. Now I am trying to go back to the basics to rediscover the joy of photography and not trophy hunting. I shoot more portraits, street, urban art and some landscapes still. I have had Nikon SLR, DSLR D3 system w. Nikon 2.8 pro zooms, and currently a big Canon Pro DSLR system. I really want... Show More

Outstanding Camera
This is an amazing camera. it is 1/4 the size of my Nikon D3 and packs a wallop in image quality. I am a professional photographer who is left wanting in Nikon's lineup of mirrorless cameras. I tried the Fuji XT-1 and Olympus before deciding on the Sony. I decided on the A7ii as my entry into Sony. If I didn't like it, I'd return it: I'm keeping it. The Sony handles well and feels great in my hand. It is small for sure but feels like my old Penta... Show More

almost perfect
I've used this camera for several trips and photo projects over the past five months. The image quality is excellent. Here are my overall thoughts: The critique that it doesn't have enough native lenses is less valid than it used to be. I only shoot prime lenses, and this camera has several excellent options (the Sony/Zeiss collaborations, Zeiss Loxia, and Zeiss Batis). If you already have Leica or M-mount lenses, it's fun to use them to this cam... Show More

Engineering marvel with beautiful design
I sold my Canon equipment and initially I bought the Sony Alpha A7R, but I sold it as soon the new A7II was released with no regrets. This camera is as good as the new A7RII but at a more affordable price without the excessive memory/processing requirements of 4k video and 42 megapixel. I think the range of 24 megapixel gives the best resolution/size compromise for almost every use, without overloading your SD cards and HDs. The Sony Alpha A7II i... Show More

No regrets
Much of this has already been said: great IQ, stabilization, ISO performance, size; not so great SD card slot door and menu system. However, many adjustments are accessible by a function button. This fit my need for better ISO performance in low light situations in a compact package. I shot with m4/3 for a while, but the smaller sensor had its limits for low light. I would suggest skipping a zoom lens and going for 1-2 good primes. The zooms are big and heavier, which I was trying to avoid with this camera. The 3.5mm f/2.8 is worth every penny - small, light and sharp.

Newbie expression
This is my very first professional camera that I have. I start to take pictures around town then I take this A7 II with me while traveling. For the last summer, this A7 II works really well. The best thing I like about it is its weight. It is so light and portable. I took it to VA DC and NY around without tiring my hands. Later I took it to Arizona for hiking. It was a great choice that I have this little powerful camera with me. Image I don't re... Show More

With me always
I bought this to supplement my Nikon D800. Although I love my Nikon, it's a bit much to have with me all the time (to the office, into NY in crowds) and wanted to have something that I could carry all the time. So far, I've kept the Sony on auto just to get use to all the bells and whistles and handling and I'm just about ready to switch over to full mamual. Loving this camera, the portability, and the results. The dials are the 'opposite' of my ... Show More

Problematic dust issues and horrible support
First I would like to point out I have had several issues with the sensor and dust. It was sent into Sony (under warranty) back in May for another sensor issue and returned improved but not satisfactory. It also cost me about $400.00 because some how they claim abuse. I have been waiting 3 month now for an explanation of the bill and none has been forthcoming. The sensor is simply a dust magnet, regardless of care used when changing lenses. The c... Show More

Aliasing in video
I wrote a previous review. In using the camera more, I found unacceptable levels of aliasing in the videomoir was sometimes severe. The sharpness of the video was good but not all that I hoped. I returned the camera. B&H, as usual, were very helpful and accommodating.

We are looking at the future and it looks bright!
The good and great: I bought the A7II to replace my aging D700. I wanted something that would give me the quality I am used to with My Nikon equipment and was lighter. The A7II delivers. It is well built, highly customizable. Once you get used to the EVF you wonder why it has taken so long to be added. The EVF is great because it allows you to see, live, how the image will look before you shoot without the need for chimping. IQ is outstanding. Lo... Show More

Great camera
I love this camera. Great images, crisp and I like the live view monitor and everything mirrorless offers. Also can use old legacy lenses on it. Battery power could be better but you just need to buy more and but a charger. One thing I'm confused about is if it has high speed sync. The specs states that it does but I don't see the option on the camera.

Leaving Canon for Sony
I was ready to upgrade to full frame (currently own a Canon 70D) and considered the Canon 6D and rumored Canon 5D Mk IV. But ultimately I have decided to abandon Canon all together and move to Sony! The Sony A7 Mk ii has much to offer photographers. On the plus side the Mk ii has this to offer: 24MP full frame sensor, 5 axis stabilization, lighter form factor, and lower entry cost, and opportunity to use my Canon L lenses. On the negative side th... Show More

I would buy this product again
I've had this camera for three weeks. I'm primarily a video maker but also wanted a camera that could make good stills. I bought the a7II because it has in-camera image stabilization, which makes it possible for me to shoot hand-held video with my old (and superb) Leica and Nikon lenses--and also to shoot stills without a tripod at longer shutter speeds. I didn't find it possible to get acceptable hand-held video with a friend's a7S and my old ma... Show More

Excellent build quality, useful features, bright sharp EVF, terrific articulating LCD, and just the right size camera for travel. Sony has improved significantly on the factors engineering with the A7-II compared to its previous A7 models, controls are well placed and offer sufficient flexibility. Having read several pixel peeper reviews I did not expect great images straight out of the camera but I've been pleasantly surprised with the results e... Show More

Nice rig!
This camera is small and very light, but the build is exceptional and it handles well. It's also a pretty camera with retro styling and a compact, solid feel. The video is great. Not so with my Canon 6D which was fairly expensive in 2013. The clips are pro quality, without artifacts--primarily moire--that plague my 6D. All of a sudden, six manual focus Canon FD lenses can be used for digital subjects with a whopping 24 MP image. One of the lenses... Show More

Excellent and a great value
This is a superb camera. It's well-made, has great image quality, useful features, and works with well with adapted glass (e.g. Leica M mount). Factor in the price, and it's hard to beat. Bravo Sony. A few additional comments: --The stabilization feature is a nice plus; it really works. --I don't see the big deal over not including a wall adapter for charging the battery. Just plug in the supplied USB cable or buy an adapter. Not a big deal. --Wh... Show More

Bye Canon. Hello Sony
This camera is a techno marvel!!!! The camera body is amazing. Equipped with image stabilization on the body is genius!!! WIFI, 24mp full frame sensor. Just to name a few features. The 28-70mm kit lens is ok, but if you are buying this caliber of camera body you probably have better lenses to attach anyways. I've enjoyed exploring all the functions of this camera so far. I'd say it's as user friendly as my Canon cameras are. Menus easily laid out... Show More

Pushing the envelope
How can you dislike a full frame 24MP sensor with stabilisation? You can't, there is nothing out there like it. The reasonable price and compactness make this product very unique. For perspective, I have had both the A7R and still have a A7S. There are very few lenses that can keep up with A7R, the FE55mm can and perhaps the newer FE35mm in the line up. The other lenses, in my case 16-35mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm are more suited to 24MP. I LOVE the... Show More

Sony A7II w/Zeiss 50/2 ZM
I purchased this camera to replace my Fuji X-T1 because I wanted to go full frame and didn't want to go back to Nikon. Everything about this camera was unintuitive and annoying. The only thing IMO that the Sony A7II has going for it is IQ and that's not enough for me. The IQ is only marginally better than the crop sensor in the Fuji X-T1 while pixel peeping. Sent back after 2 days of use. Pros: Great IQ Amazing low light performance In body image... Show More

Nice camera
This camera is great for landscape shots and portraits. I am using with a Metabones adapter and Canon EF L lenses. AF works on some lenses and not so well on others, but Manual Focus is very easy with this camera, particularly if you turn on the peaking level which highlights areas in viewfinder that are in focus. I was very disappointed that a camera at this price point arrives without a battery charger. What is provided with the camera is an un... Show More
