Upgrade from a6000
Bought the a6500 as an upgrade from my a6000 which I loved. Love the easier to use color coded menu ,faster focusing ,silent shooting, endless burst shooting and am still learning the touchscreen focus. I am sure I still havent discovered all the features and upgrades.i shoot mostly action shots at my grandsons baseball games and transfer to my cellphone so he can share with his friends instantly. I got a nice package deal .The extra battery come... Show More

Nice Camera
Everything about the camera is great. The accessory kit bag isn't working for me with the A6500. It works great for the RX100, however.

Small, compact, intuitive
This camera so far has been a great addition to my life. I have enjoyed how small, compact and lightweight it is. It produces high quality images and video, especially for the purchase price.

Good price. Bag was too small
Got a great deal on this camera body. The extras were free and a bonus . Down side is the bag that was free cant hold the body and my 20mm zoom lens which makes it pretty useless .

Great quality
B&H has always been a reliable website to buy different types of camera gear. I was once again very satisfied with my latest purchase. I am for sure recommending B&H to my friends and family.

Nice upgrade
Upgraded from a6000 for IBIS, touch screen and better low light performance. Thumbs up on all of those features. Ive already taken some great pics paired with sigma and laowa primes. If you are an APSC aficionado like me, this is a great camera.

This was a steal at $800
I upgraded from the A6000, here are my thoughts. -The A6000 didn't allow the Jpeg to have Dynamic Range Optimisation (DRO) when you selected RAW+Jpeg output. The 6500 has now fixed this, to my surprise. This now enable me to shoot Raw+Jpeg with a peace of mind that my Jpegs won't lose detail in shadows and highlights. -The A6500 grip is more substantial than the A6000, and I liked this upgrade. This was among one of the reasons why I chose A6500 ... Show More

Quality performance for its small size
I bought this camera for travel and I think it will serve that purpose very well. I find the quality of the images impressive and the ease of use quite good. The menus could be improved for optimum navigation, but once used to the system, it works adequately. I too wish the battery could be charged independent of the camera and could see some improvement in noise management, but the image stabilization is good. The overall performance is very good and in many instances will be a perfectly acceptable substitute for the heavier, pro-level equipment. B&H as always is a first-rate supplier.

Perfect combination for everyday photography.
My main camera is Sony a7iii and purpose of this unit is to get a camera to use when A7 with their lenses is not convenient because of bag siza. 16-50 lens is collapsing then power off and make entire set relatively small. Leans sharp enough. Camera sold with free accessory kit - nice bag, extra battery and brand SD card.

Excellent camera!
It would only be missing if the screen had the blog / selfie mode and that the batteries could be recharged without having to have the camera connected. Out of all that, very good.

Great Little Camera
I wanted something smaller and versatile and this little Sony fits the bill perfectly. You get great images and without having to always carry around a large camera. Thanks B&H!

Upgraded from A6000
Have been using the A6000 since 2016 for traveling and have LOVED it. Wanted to upgrade to the in-body stabilization offered in the A6500 and have been keeping an eye out for deals. I expect the same (or better) quality from the A6500 that I've come to known from the A6000. First real workout will come in March when I visit Portugal.

software update
apparently the camera needs a soft ware update to accept Play Memories app and activate wifi. Maybe I am just inept but so far I cannot get wifi or bluetooth and NFC. Software update requires a more recent operating system on my MAC-generally a bit hairball so far.

Upgrade of my A6000
I have only taken a few pictures, but know I will love it, as My A6000 is my favorite cameraI I have ever owned. In the past I bought a new camera at lease one a year. I presently own three A6000 Sonys and have recommended them to several good friends, who bought them also.

Great price for so many features
I've had an a5000 for a while now and have been frustrated with its low light performance and screen resolution. This was my solution and I've waited a few years for it to drop in price. And as of today January 3, 2020 it's still on sale for $798 which is why I jumped on it. I own some older glass and the ibis helps so much with my shaky hands when taking photos, but not much at all when taking videos as it struggles to deal with footsteps and shakes more than I'd like. tl;dr: Upgraded from a5000, and it's worth it for me.

Awesome
I have a Sony a77ii also and its nice to not have to take a big DSLR along everytime to get just as good of photos!! It is quite smaller but with the rubber gripping I got for it that helped alot!

Great lightweight option.
I use Sony Fs7s as my regular work cameras so I am sort or locked in to Sony mount lenses. The A6500 gives me a great option of a lightweight camera for use on a gimbal or a slider. It is great it shoots in Ultra-HD, of course I would prefer that it also shot in full 4K. For its price it offers a great set of features- especially in auto, which is super helpful on a Ronin.

Sony 6500 camera is excellent
Bhphoto has offered a great holiday sale on this camera, which made it an instant purchase for me. I own a 6300 and was so impressed with the picture quality I bought this second camera. The internal stabilization in this camera allows me to take low light and moving pictures I have not been able to take before. The sharpness of pictures taking with a long zoom lens is far superior in sharpness than what I get with the 6300. Lastly, processing sp... Show More

Excels at underwater photography!
I got the Sony A6500 primarily for underwater photography and video, and paired it with an Ikelite housing. The good: its burst rate, large buffer, and AF system allow me to track fast moving fish in video or stills mode. The three primary lenses I use with it are the Sony 50mm f/2.8 macro, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 Contemporary, and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Contemporary. These lenses are tack sharp and work perfectly with the A6500's AF system. They are... Show More

Still Great Camera
Moving from Sony a6000, which produces great images with right lenses, it is a noteworthy upgrade. The 5-axis stabilization being the biggest of them. If you often take handheld pictures in less than perfect light, it definitely helps by providing a few steps of extra room (to reduce low light noise and/or decrease handshake blur). Being moisture resistant (it is not weather sealed!) also helps with pictures in the rain, snow or at the ocean sinc... Show More

Super
After having used DLSRs I'm really enjoying my A6500. It's not light or tiny. It seems to be just the right size and weight. I have the 18-135 lens and it seems to be a good combination. I don't have to change lenses and it covers the range I shoot most often. Pictures are sharp. I'm using Program setting now, but will start using other settings soon.

Great camera and lens. Poor accessory package
Camera bag is a piece of garbage. Camera and lens dont fit. Great camera for older photographer who doesnt want to carry heavy Nikons anymore. Great for travel.

The A6500 doesn't fit into the ONYX 25
The kit is a good deal except the camera doesn't fit into the bag. If you remove the bottom padding it will barley fit, but that doesn't leave any protection for the camera. The Ruggard Hunter 25 is a better option. After being burned by B&H kits in the past, I should have done a better job double-checking. I probably would have still bought the kit, I would have just purchased a case separately.
