I'm really enjoying this microphone. It sounds wonderful and makes it so easy to record my alto saxophone. I read a review elsewhere on the internet that complained about the thin cable coming out of the microphone that could be easily damaged. I don't think it'll be a problem, though. At the end of the thin cable is a longer-than-normal male XLR connector with a sturdy clip. You can connect a regular mic cable to it, clip it to a pocket on your pants, and then coil up the thin cable and hang it on your waist where it's safe. Anyway, I'd highly recommend this microphone, at least for saxophone players. ... More

Until now I have used various mics on short mic stands as pickups for my acoustic cello. I had tried various contact mics which tend to give an electronic instrument sound and require attachments which are not convenient. A friend recommended the Shure and I used it first time in performance - straight out of the box. Super satisfied with it. Attaches easily in 5 seconds to the tail piece and with the mic super close to the f hole it was the first time I could actually hear the cello from the speaker system - in fact I had to limit the gain. As a result very low pickup of ambient sounds. Plus no tripod to lug. Less lugging is always better. ... More

I've owned the wireless version of this same mic for years. It reproduces clarinet, sax, acoustic guitar, mandolin and flute all quite competently, with amazingly little feedback problem. To facilitate switching instruments on a gig I bought a straight cable from Shure, removed the capsule from the gooseneck mounting, and now I strap the mic to my wrist. With slight adjustments, it picks up each instrument well. Very reasonable price for all it does.

sounds great and brings all the rich tones out of your horn, while dynamic mics give your tone some extra bite and brightness. and obviously since it's a clip-on it's great for horn players who move around some, pulse to the beat, or just dance. also pro tip for saxophonists, you'll want to point the mic slightly above the bell instead of directly into the bell, because saxophones are omnidirectional instruments and sound comes out of all the open keys instead of just the bell
