This mic sounds like it should be worth 5 times the cost. I was skeptical about this mic until I used one at a large church concert. I was used to the 2 overhead condenser pencil microphones until I heard this mic. I was blown away!!! It was used as the drum overhead mic and reproduced the drums and cymbals and chimes very accurately and was very warm. A lot of condenser mics are harsh--not this mic. The 5 piece drum kit had only 3 mics on the kit--kick--snare & overhead. The snare mic was acting up and this mic handled the snare drum sound as well. The engineer at our church was amazed at how well this mic performed. I would buy another one of these mics in a heartbeat. I have heard it on vocals, acoustic guitar and woodwinds-- everything sounded great. It handles it all. ... More

I have had the C01U (USB) for a long while and have loved it for what I do. So when I was looking for an XLR type mic I decided to go to what works for me and that is the C01. It records well and like I said does what I need it for and that is just some home recording. So if you are looking for an inexpensive great condenser mic this might be the one for you. I had my USB C01 for 14 years before a screw on the inside came loose and shorted it out so it is built to last, that was just a fluke I am sure. Thank you for your time ... More

I bought this to match the one I had as they are really medium diaphragm condensers measuring 19mm. This mic came loose like someone had opened it and messed with it. In addition, as an extra clue, someone has removed an internal shield around the capsule on this mic meaning it no longer matches my stock one. That made this a rather useless purchase for me, but the mic does work but my guess that shield was in there to reduce top end peaking. When you are buying anything used lookout for modifications!

in home studio, Cymbals come through brite,,and I use 2 overheads and high hat does not need a mic. I paid a lot for the drum mic's and did not have enough left over to buy what a lot of people were telling me to buy for overhead mic's so I thought what the heck.. buy 2 of these untill you get the money..they sound great..I guess they can sound better I have another mic. I paid $ for and it stays in the case..

I have used the mic for about 4 years and I haven't had any problems. What surprised me most is that even with sounds greater than 137dB, which is the limit for the mic, it did not show any clipping effect exhibited by most mics. Very good for miking instruments like high hat, toms and the snare drum. Of course isn't meant for that but it does fine. The studio in which I work has 6 of them and none has any problem. I would recommend it to anybody with a budget constraint.

I love the rich sound this mic gives on male voices and most musical instruments - especially piano. I'd give 5 stars, but its self noise makes it unusable for recording anything that is quiet. Hiss intrudes into recordings of acoustic guitars and all but the loudest vocalists. I find the C-01 useful for amplified instruments and some horns, as long as the bell of the trumpet is kept a reasonable distance from the mic so as not to distort. For the price, why not keep a pair in your kit?

This mic is great especially for vocals in hip hop. Flat response makes it sound warm and in your face. Perfect for hiphop tracking. It has a hypercardiod pickup pattern which means it picks up less noise to the sides of the mic and focuses more on the vocalist. The only con is one pickup pattern but if you're looking for a mic within this price range then I imagine you don't have a professional setup where you'll be recording live instruments. One of the best entry level professional Mics.

I purchased this condenser mic for my first try using a DAW setup. Thus far I am very impressed with the build quality and the sound quality. No concerns about longevity with this one. It does a great job on my vocals. Very clear and honest reproduction of whats going into it. Absolutely no regrets regarding this purchase!!

The first thing I would like to say I had this microphone about 4 years ago and it had a great sound back then and I sold it, so I decided to order a new one. After testing the C01, to me it's not the same sound. The C01 seems to have a limiter or a compressor built into the FET op-amp of this Mic. Does not have an open free sound to it.

Used for recording live instrumental and vocal music. Both artists and I are happy with the results, just bought a second pair, total owned is four. As with all large diaphragm condenser mics, these too are large and heavy.

My son is going to school for sound engineering and specifically asked for this mic because of the value for the money and how well it performs for both instrument and voice recording. He absolutely loves it.

Not sure if mine was defective or something, but it was extremely noisy and I bought it new. Worked well for drum overheads, as the noise wasn't as audible then, but noise can definitely be heard in vocal tracks. Purchase at your own risk.

I bought this mic to use for studio recording but tried it on my amp at a gig and that's where it stays now. The clarity is awesome! It is a little big and heavy but that's not a problem to me. Well worth the money for many applications!
