Great camera!
The Panasonic G-85 is a great camera. I have owned an Olympus em5 Mark 1 and a Panasonic GX7, the G-85 is my favorite so far. The only thing I see that annoying me a bit is, the tiny boutons on the back but that's details. For the price I think it's unbeatable. There is maybe the new Fuji X-T20, but for me, as I have very old lenses wich benefit from the stabilisation IBIS, it's the way to go. Since You don't have that on Fuji system.

Excellent enthusiast camera
The reason I got this camera is because I wanted to shift from DSLR to Micro Four Thirds system and video quality is as important to me as still photo quality. The camera is very easy to use and has a huge amount of presets for various scenarios as well as all the manual options you could want as a photography enthusiast. It may not be the best option for a professional but it's more than enough for me as a longtime (25+ years) enthusiast. I cons... Show More

A Video/Stills All-in-Wonder
Panasonic hit a home run with the G85. It combines a rugged, weathersealed body with IBIS, 4K and plenty of tools to allow for all the flexibility most photographers could ask for. I've been impressed with the effectiveness of the stabilization, especially while walking and filming - so smooth! I don't have many gripes about the G85. The battery life could be a bit stronger and a higher-bitrate 1080p codec would be nice. Overall a great buy and a powerful tool for the photographer or videographer.

The Swiss Army Knife of Micro Four Thirds
A very underrated camera. Light, responsive and great photo/video camera! UI is great and the kit lens is definitely a keeper! Can't beat the price for all it's features.

Really Fantastic Camera
I purchased this as an upgrade to my GH4. I loved my GH4 and used it for stills and video over the last 3 years. For my needs, the G85 is a much better tool. For photography the G85 is a much better camera. I liked the feel and ergonomics of the GH4, but prefer the G85. It's is a little smaller, is solid, and fits better in my hand. The pictures do seem to be sharper, and the IBIS allows me to take interior photos (for real estate) without a trip... Show More

Best Value for 4k video on the market!
I got this camera to replace my second gh4 because we shoot a lot of handheld videos. This is hands down the. Eat value as of today for 4k video shooters. The 4k is sharp and clean and very detailed. It's better in low light than my gh4 and we have got so many great shots because of the IBIS. The IBIS hands down spanks our Sony a6500 and they are not even in same ball park in this category. This is a great camera that takes nice stills and amazing video!

I would be this camera again!
Amazing camera for the price. The IBIS with my prime lenses are a game changer for me! I got rid of my 2 GH4s and I am not looking back. I think I will be getting a 3rd one :)

Really like the camera. There a lot of features and it will take times to learn them all, but I like it so far.

Great package with serious flaws
There are a lot of great things about this camera. The clean 4k, weatherproofing, easy to easy touchscreen interface, mic input, fold out lcd, great kit lens and great picture quality. Unfortunately, I bought this camera to do video interviews for my school and the autofocus system just doesn't work well for semi-static subject. There is constant focus hunting. This might be due to the lack of phase detect auto-focus capability. I tried many diff... Show More

Although not perfect - this camera offers immense value
Got this camera about a month ago and so far it's been great. My work is primarily focused on video and the image quality and usability of the camera are outstanding. Panasonic's 4k video file size is close to my previous canon t5i's 1080p files which in itself is a massive workflow upgrade. The camera also comes with many of the most beloved magic lantern features such as focus peaking, histograms, zebras, and others. No such thing as a perfect ... Show More

Really, really, good
I had misgivings about buying and held off until a firmware update came out to fix the IS problem associated with shooting video. Downloaded and installed the update: now smooth as silk. I'm still learning the camera...it does a lot more than my Nikon D5000...but so far it's been fantastic. This is my first m43 camera, and I was a little worried about IQ and the smaller sensor resulting in too restricted an image size for landscapes, but so far a... Show More

Great kit for the price!
The latest firmware update solved the IBIS issues in video and this little camera performs very well! Great IQ, great video... I just wish it had a 20MP sensor.

Awesome addition to my gear!!!
So far this has done an awesome job on pics!!! I got this camera as my first mirrorless and I am not disappointed. I have not tried to record with it yet so I am not sure of the jitter issues I heard can happen with focus tracking. Panasonic did release a firmware update on 11/16 to correct. The menus are easy to work with and customization is fantastic. There are 2 custom settings on the main drive dial and the second one will allow for 3 settin... Show More

Best bang for your buck ILC
This comes with almost all the bells and whistles you can imagine. It's comfortable, shoots sharp video and stills, has weather sealing... All for an extremely reasonable price. Kudos to Panasonic. Also worth mentioning that the kit lens bundle is an absolute steal if you don't have the 12-60 lens yet.

the IBIS is that bad
Unfortunately all of the talk about this camera's IBIS is as bad as everyone says. For anything handheld, it's completely unusable. Dramatic step backwards from the GX85, which is a shame because it's a good camera otherwise. Save your money and buy something else that actually works.

A truly great camera
First I am having no IBIS problems, and have done two hours of walking and panning tests with the kit lens, the 12-35, and the 7-14 all with stellar results. You will notice about a second at the beginning and end of some sweeping pans when the IBIS is not engaged fully, but this lasts only an instant. Facial recognition is great for video, except in dim lighting and then it is good. I also have a GX85, a GH4, and this is a replacement for a GX7. Thus far this is my favorite 4/3 camera,

Disappointing
I had very high hopes for this camera but was very let down by the things that sounded so special about it. The in body IS is so jerky its unusable for panning shots. As you try to pan it tried to stay where the image was and then jumps to where you are moving. Hopefully it will be fixed in a firmware update soon. There is also a fan noise from the body that is constantly present and makes any sound recorded from the in body mic unusable. I am us... Show More

Re: Seungs Review
To get smooth, stabilized video on the G85, youll want to disable lens stabilization and only use the cameras 5-axis IBIS. Power O.I.S. lenses are notorious for micro-jitter in video mode, although theyre fantastic for sharp photos. Mega O.I.S. lenses are much smoother for video but dont currently work with Dual IS II. That leaves you with the G85s IBIS, which works beautifully. Pair the IBIS with a light rig (I usually forgo a proper rig altoget... Show More
