Was I expecting too much?
This headphone amp is functional, and solidly build physically (with a nice metal case), but I seemed plagued by issues (with uneven L-R volumes, and then nonlinear volume pot). Thomaan quickly replaced faulty ones I received, but it undermines faith that this needed to be done. As a headphone driver it is simple, easy to use, and well priced. Excellent
I ordered this product quite a while ago, and I am really happy. Typical Germanic solid build quality as it felt solid and well built, tho it did look aesthetically boring and unadventurous, but for the money this is a great product. Sound from any source was absolutely fantastic and tho I personally would have loved it to have a bit more power, but this black box is actually great. It gave my head phones a completely new texture and I could not believe the Authority and Delicacy I heard from blu Ray as well as Cd players. Could do with a bit more power, thus the 4 stars.

Usable, but not great.
The sound is okay at low to mid volumes. Gets quite nasty as you go higher, at least with my headphones. I'm no expert in headphone amps, all I can say is that it does not ruin the sound completely. Does not smear the transients badly and the sound is detailed in the whole frequency range. After a few years of use the input and output jack sockets became faulty and produce crackling when the cables are moved. There is a very slight level disbalace between the channels, most noticable at very low volume. I suspect the low quality potentiometer used it this thing.

Excellent sound and great construction
The HP1 is a brilliant headphone amp -- high enough power to drive most over ear headphones with no bass filtering and a really clear reproduction of sound. The box itself is rugged and well constructed. It doesn't have the ability to change mono and stereo mix, but that suits us absolutely fine and is really great particularly for the bassists and drummers in our bands. A very good product.

Handy little amp
Handy wee amp which does it's simple job reliably and cheaply - we use it in the balcony of our venue so that the screen operators get their own audio feed with vocals so they can hear where they should be with the lyrics on screen.

Millenium HP 1
Simple little headphone amp,. well made and sturdy. about a 3rd of a rack space and 1u high,.. fits in anywhere. Sound quality is very good.

Does the job but adds quite a bit of noise. If you are looking for a silent clean pre-amp, i could not match your expectation.
