To keep this simple, these are the headphones to monitor your mix. They do not color your sound. And you will hear every thing there. They are natural. Sony is the one doing this right. Now for construction. I like the build quality. There is plastic where it doesn't matter, but good material where there should be. This helps with comfort because it affects weight, and price point as well. Just take care of them. The cable has a nice weight to it... Show More

Excellant
I use these headphones often, for both casual music listening, and producing music. For the price, these headphones are brillant. They don't boost anything, meaning that they give the sound, as it's meant to sound. The bass is smooth and sounds great. Unlike a lot of other headphones I've used, these actually allow you to hear your mid frequences. The highs are beautiful, they are clear and loud, but they arn't boosted or shrill. These headphones... Show More

Incredible headphones
These cans sound great with my first generation Zune. Everything is crisp and clear, the sound quality is just amazing! I am a fan of bass and although its not earth shattering bass, it's more than enough and does not sound distorted at all. As far as I can tell there really are no cons to this product although they do squeeze your head a little bit (I wear size 7 1/4 fitted baseball hats just to give you an idea of the size of my head). The ear ... Show More

Love 'em... they're perfect
Having recently been moved out of my private office into a cubicle, I needed a decent pair of 'phones so that I could listen to music without disturbing anyone, and so that I could filter out all the ambient noise. I was going to be wearing 'em all day long, so they needed to be really comfortable for long periods of time, and they needed to be durable enough to stand up to all-day,every-day use. These seem to do the trick; whenever my coworker s... Show More

Great for studio and field work
I am a professional videographer and have used these headphones for critical audio during many video shoots including; live events, Interviews, video editing and even just to jam to my tunes when I get to a location early. The over the ear comfort is great and I have been able to wear these for several hours non-stop without much in way of discomfort. I also love the coiled cable, I can leave the ears on while multitasking behind the camera witho... Show More

excellent combination of whiz and bang
I use the v6s for casual listening and gaming mostly. The v6s are better and cheaper than almost every other pair I've tried. Before I had these I listened to music mostly with a pair or monster lil' jamz, which had a slightly basey bias which is very silly for a pair of ear buds, the v6s are beyond comperable. They work very well for gaming as well because of their excellent sound stage reproduction. I have only two issues. First, my ears are ab... Show More

Excellent sound isolation
I use these headphones in the field to ensure that I am capturing good quality audio on my Canon Vixia HV30 videocamera. This has saved my bacon on more than one occasion--alerting me, for example, that my shotgun mic was not on (the mic lacks a power on light, and the switch is extremely tiny). Because connecting this mic disables the on-board mic, I would have ended up with no audio on the tape--but for the MDR-V6. The circumaural design blocks... Show More

Looking for low dollar and high-quality?
I can hear every tiny nuance of my music with these. The frequency response is out of this world and the bass is extremely tight, even with a bass boost on my PC's EQ. I often find myself going through my playlist and listening to my music just to enjoy how perfect these sound. Cymbals sound like cymbals and aren't tinny at all -- vocals sound like you're standing in front of the person listening to them -- bass sounds deep and solid. I challenge... Show More

Great Headphones for the cost!!
I already have one pair of these fantastic headphones from about 2007 or so. I didn't really need a second pair, but I got them anyway as a "just in case" measure. Though they aren't rated as "Hi-Res" I would rate them that way because they have a range of5 Hz to 30 kHz. Well beyond what human hearing can hear (20 Hz to 20 kHz). They have accurate sound and nice bass and treble characteristics. They do not lack for anything. The cushy cups are ni... Show More

Flaky pleather and dumbo ears
I have sticky-outy ears (notably sothey are hereditary and my grandpa and his brothers had theirs stitched to the sides of their heads at a young age to make them look more normal), so all over-ear headphones crush my cartilage causing pain during extended use. While the cups on these phones are plenty big enough to fit around my ears, they are not deep enough to avoid crushing them, so I plan to find or make (maybe 3D print?) some cup extenders.... If only for the chord
I was nervous about buying headphones at this price since I have been breaking my cheap ones like crazy, but after receiving them there are now worries. After I broke them in by letting them play away for a couple days to some classical music these bad boys became stellar in sound. Yes, they are big headphones, but obviously you are not here to buy junk ear buds, you actually want to listen to all the instruments, and believe me they let you list... Show More

Best cans under $100
Breaking them in as I write this, but here's a basic summary of Sony's fantastic pair of phones, the MDR-V6. Pros: - Pads fit around ears and are snug fit - Solid construction - Cord comes out one side - Folds up for portability, cord is coiled - Sounds are balanced, bass isn't overwhelming; tight - Isolates fairly well for NON-CANCELING headphones Cons: - Bass may be lacking for some - Impractical cord length for normal travel usage (e.g walking... Awful
Okay these are awful soundwise. They have a really nasty spike in the higher mids 2k region and extreme rolled off treble and very bleh sounding bass. This gives music a very artificial rough harsh sound nothing is pleasing and nothing is accurate about it's sound some music will sound okay on it but 99% of music sounds bad. It's almost like someone EQed it to sound as bad as it can. Other Sony headphones don't sound good either.Although they soun... Show More

Great Headphones
These headphnes are awesome. They provide great sound quality, a long but managable cord, and can fold up nicely and fit into the bag for a relatively easy travel experience. I got them to use with my home audio equipment, along with travel use on my laptop. If you are looking for something to travel with, there may be better options, seeing as even if you fold it up, if you have a small bag, it may not fit. I havent had any trouble yet though, s... Headphones Are worth the price!!!
am very pleased with Sony MDR-V6 Professional Stereo Headphones. They have met all of my criteria nicely; they cost under $100.00 (got them cheap at http://www.bhphotovideo.com ...); they are light weight, and; they reproduce sound across the entire musical range (10Hz - 20,000Hz). An added bonus: they fold up nicely so that I can take them with me on those rare occasions when I travel with my laptop. And Sony provided me with a handy soft pouch ... Show More

Sometimes newer isn't always better
I searched and searched for a headset and thought I would never be happy, until I remembered these beauties. I purchased quite a few headsets already including Bose and Beats and neither live up to the comfort and sound quality of the Sony MDR-v6! - which cost a third less by the way. I had these many years ago but over time and wear, moved on to newer sets, only to return finding nothing that could match up. The only con I have is the coiled wir... Show More

Clean sound, durable, and comfortable
This my second pair of these headphones (first one died after many years, left speaker blew and it wasn't worth it to me to repair it at the price range). They have nice clean sound, flat frequency response, comfortable fit, and durable build. My only recommendation is to replace the ear-cushions it comes with - the included pleather ones are crummy and flake easily. Get a pair of the Beyerdynamic EDT 250 velour ear cushions and these headphones ... Show More

A Timeless Classic
When this product was first released in the 80's a videographer/drummer friend brought a pair over for a session and I immediately went out and got myself a pair. I still have those and this year gave my son a set for his 23rd birthday. The gift was a hit. He has been getting serious about sound and wanted something like this. He loves them as much as I do. These are earphones you can use for everything, and you will be happy with them forever! T... Show More

I already owned a pair of Bose headphones and thought they were terrific. Then, after reading many reviews on different audiophile sites, decided to give these a try. B&H had the best price and delivery, so I bought without hesitation. These headphones are AWESOME! To me, they produce much better sound than my Bose, at 1/3 the cost! Big comfy headphones
I have been using these connected to my PC tower at work as well as my iPod. The cord is really long so i wouldn't recommend walking around with them. So far they seem to bring out different tones I had not noticed previously when using a cheap pair of Koss headphones. These do not block out all outside noise but they definitely muffle the outside world a bit. I needed something comfortable for earing throughout much of the day at work, listening... Show More

Cheap Fantastic Monitoring Headphones
Before I bought these, I went to a local pro-audio shop to listen to products in my price range (which I highly suggest you do). Between the Senn 555's, AT M50's, and AKG K240's, these were my favorite. I use them for work, casual listening, and light gaming. They are less enjoyable for the later two because of the analyticity, but accuracy is one of the reasons I bought these. They are comfortable, durable, and sound fantastic. I will say this t... Good sound & coworkers don't complain
Mostly purchased these to use at the office because my Denons were bleeding too much sound out & I like my music LOUD. These Sony's do a great job of containing my music & it turns out, these are also sound good. They lose a bit in the bass end to my Denons & I miss some of that depth, though maybe it was just a bit more floppy. Could be that they are on-ear rather than over-ear. These are just a bit tighter bass. Not bad, just different. Good al... Show More
