Great Lens, Great Value
I agree with all the reviews for this lens. Many videos online regarding the 85mm f1.8 which demonstrate the capabilities. This a fun lens delivering awesome pics and video for a reasonable cost. I'm very happy with my choice and purchase.

pretty good
I haven't been using it much since i got it, but what i noticed so far: Good bokeh, sharp, crisp images in good lighting conditions. The lens sometimes struggles to focus in low light. Overall, a very good portrait lens for the money.

Great Portrait Lens
I bought this in anticipation of my grand-daughter's birth, to isolate her from distracting backgrounds. The lens does just that, and is very sharp, even wide open. The size and weight make it a perfect complement to the A7 III body.

Must buy if you are on a budget
If you are on a budget this is a must buy. It is a very sharp, lightweight beast. Does not produce the best bokeh of the 85s that Sony has produced but it definitely holds its on. At this price point it is definitely a great lens.

Great Value
The reviews are spot on. A great value at nearly 1/3 the price of the Sony 85 mm f/1.4 for my full-frame a7RIII. Very sharp wide open at f/1.8. I'm more interested in a lightweight, fast travel lens than a dedicated portrait lens.

Sharp as a tack
This lens is light weight and very sharp. I have been using it on my Alpha 6000 with great results. No, it doesn't have OSS, but if you handheld and shoot at a shutter speed of about 1/165 or faster, there should be no problem.

Light as feather, Stings like a bee :)
I LOVE this lens. Its weights nothing and sharp as a tack. The AF is so quick and 1.8 is gorgeous Bokeh. But the best part is pairing nicely w the Sony A73. Very ergonomic and comfortable to shoot :) This is a no brainer....

A Great Upgrade
I bought this as a gift for my Son to complement his Sony camera's kit lens. It is a large and heavy lens but provided a huge upgrade in the quality of his pictures. The lens is sharp and brighter than the f/1.8 would imply.

Just perfect, except...
The lens is a dream! It is extremely sharp, light and well build. I love it - it is perfect match on A7/A9 camera. The only thing I notice is that the AF is not very fast in low light. But for the price, this lens is a gem!

My favorite lens!
It may be fixed at 85mm, but I can assure you I have pushed it to the limits of what it can and cannot shoot! It was my first ever lens when I switched to Sony and got the A7iii. Outstanding sharpness and bokeh at f/1.8.

Beautiful lens
So happy I made this purchase. Excellent buy for your money. Tack sharp subject with beautiful creamy bokeh in the background. I took it on vacation with me along with my 35mm prime and got some amazing shots with both!

Great Lens
I love this lens. Its tack sharp and focus super fast! I use to be a Nikon shooter and their 85mm was tack sharp but at times the auto focus would struggle to lock on. Not with this Sony. Bokeh is creamy, love it!

Works Great!
If your buying the new camera, but the lens too. Wife neeeded it for portraits. She is finding excuses to take pictures of more than necessary to make use of all the new toys have to offer. Hubby of the photog.

Getting Used To The FE85mm f/1.8 Lens
Starting to like this lens. I was used to shooting with the Sony A77ii, and recently went to the A7ii. Added this lens to my collection, and after a few times shooting with this lens, it is becoming a favorite.

Great lens!
I used this lens (with the a7 iii) to photograph 12-14 yr olds playing hockey and it never missed. Almost every series of shots was in focus. Very fast lens. I had it set at f/2.2 most of the time and iso 1600.

Excellent Lens with out the weight!
What a nice lens and price. Beautiful build and much lighter than the GM version. I haven't used the GM version, which I'm sure is fantastic but for me, this hits the sweet spot of price, quality, and weight.

Nice rendering, autofocus only OK
Good: Nice color and contrast. Decent bokeh. Bad: On the A7R mark II the autofocus hunts in low light or low contrast situations, which makes it not a great lens for shooting portraits of young children.

Buy this lens if you need a great portrait lens!!!
I bought this lens at the same time a bought an a7rii. It is one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used. It has a fast and accurate focus. If you need a portrait lens this is a great place to start.

Perfect balance for size weight price and quality
This is one of the best 85mm for the money. Pictures are pin-sharp and autofocus is quick. The only drawback is the lack of an aperture ring and OSS, but at this price who can complain! Recommended.

This lens is so nice. Its so compact and I can fit it in my pocket. Its a nice short telephoto lens for portraits. Never fails me. Just amazing. Definitely would recommend this to my Sony Shooters!

Lightweight beast
Pros : Makes wonderful walk around lens. Responsive auto focus, great sharpness on A7R II [not best Ive seen, but certainly amazing value]. Would highly recommend. Cons: Cant make me omelettes

Simply Beautiful!

Creamy Bokeh
Lens is beautify build as expected from sony. Wide open its nearly as sharp as the Gmaster version. Closed down from f8 and smaller, its sharp as a tack! This is a great lens for the money.
