Decent long telephoto.
Sony doesn't offer, as of yet, a hi-end long e-mount telephoto for their nex system. Because I like the compactness and autofocus capabilities of native lenses I bought this. It did not give me the color pop or contrast of other lenses like Sony's 10-18 ultra wide zoom, Zeiss 24 prime or Sony 50,1.8. Autofocus is slow. One Sweet Telephoto for the NEX
I had some significant concerns this lens would be too much of a compromise for those that have any experience with Sony Alpha lenses I can lay your concerns to rest. This lens, optically, is a very close brother to the Alpha 70-300G. SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3mm Lens
This lense surpases all expectations. It was purchased as a gift for my wife and casual usage. The quality and caliber of the photos have been excellent. The clarity of 4-6 point font on bottles and cans is clearly legible from 25-30 feet with with crisp images when combined with the NEX-5N. A very pleasant surprise
Preformed flawlessly in sub zero temperatures, professional image quality, crisp, rich. Focusing is fast on the N6 after a firmware update to the lens. This lens has to compete with my Canon L lenses and it does. I am worried no more...
I travel the world for work and 18 months ago I bought a NEX-7. Shortly after that I went into a quandary... should I spend more and buy the 18-200 or this 55-210? I selected this lens. Tremendous value, Surprisingly good
This is the perfect lens to carry with your A6000 if you want something a little zoomy that doesn't weigh five pounds or break the bank. This lens does quite well, all things considered. Great zoom lens for the price point
Here's the thing about this lens... if you're not a professional (or professional hobbyist), the G Master zooms are most likely out of your price point, and this is the one you're looking at. And for the price, it's actually pretty great. Does it work well indoors? No. But then why are you trying to use a zoom lens like this inside? Outside is a different matter. Solid Lens
I've been using this lens for a couple of months now and I've found it to be quite reliable as my go-to telephoto lens. I generally shoot in JPG so any lens distortion that may be present when shooting in RAW is next to non-existent for my copy. I don't notice any vignetting and very minimal chromatic aberration. My first impressions were long time over due for an all black 55-210mm lens I thought the silver and black lens looked out of place on the nex6 now for the technical side from 55-175mm tack sharp from 175-210mm a tad soft the colors and sharpness fall off a little If you are looking to take pictures of birds this is not the lens for you. Inadequate
I would have used this lens for portraits, wildlife, landscape and art photography. What I liked about the lens was that it's very compact and light weight, smooth and looks beautiful with the 6000 body and my Wacom tablet. Nice still life image of them all together. Sharp and very portable
Since summer in Pennsylvania has not begun, I have yet to give my 55-210 lens a really good workout. Still, the use I have made of it suggests it will continue to be effective at what I purchased it to do -- take pictures outdoors of flora and fauna I cannot easily reach. Good value for the money
I bought this lens to pair with a Sony a5100 and I have not been disappointed. The pictures I have taken are clear with good detail throughout its entire focal length. It's certainly not the most impressive zoom lens around, but for the money, it's an excellent performer and good value. Despite it's size, it is still manageable on the a5100. Singularly Unimpressed
Pros: Lightweight, small, good focal range. Cons: Dreadful chromatic aberration at high contrast edges, especially at longer focal lengths. I was hoping this would be a good basic telephoto for the A6000, but, at least the copy I got, was dreadful at the longer lengths. This camera is amazing. Amazing photos and videos. if you want a camera which is easy to carry but half he size of a bulky DSLR, this is the one. It uses the newly developed CMOS sensor, same one used in the bulky, expensive Nikon D-7000. There is no in-build flash, but It comes with a external flash attachement. Worth the price
I'm still getting used to my a6000 and the new lens but I try and take it everywhere to get some experience using the lens. I do notice some pictures are crystal clear and others are a little soft. At this point I'm not sure it's the focus or the lens. But the pictures that are clear come out with fine detail even zooming in 150% I have a Tamron SP 60-300 and 28-80 and have had hot and miss success with them also so I think it is focus. Great Little Lens
this is a great little lens: very sharp, excellent contrast and small considering the zoom range. Easily fits in your pocket. OSS is very effective and one can easily hand hold at 1/8 second on the short end and 1/20 on the long. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because of the plastic lens flange. I'm sure Sony will say that the plastic is stronger and more accurate than the metal but I still like metal. Call me old fashioned. If you are looking for an indoor, low light lens this isn't it. If you are looking for a good all around tele zoom then you can't go wrong.

Got what I was looking for...
I am an outdoors enthusiast with limited technical camera know-how. I wanted a somewhat compact camera versatile enough to be simple to use yet capable of taking DSLR-like pictures. With the addition of this lens to my NEX5 I have found exactly what I have been looking for. The zoom capability of this lens is fantastic and along with the compactness of the combination it allows me to pack lightly yet take pictures that can really impress. In many cases when you take a scenic photo the expression is, the picture doesn't quite capture it. But not in this case.

Good kit lens
The intended end user for this lens is customers coming over from point and shoots. In this respect it does it's job very well on the NEX-5N. Pictures come out sharp with little distortion. What there is is erased when you use the lens correction options in the camera's settings. Zoom while not up to today's super zoom ranges is more than enough when you consider the pics taken with the 5N or 3C can be cropped to the same effect due to the higher picture quality over point and shoot camera. I primarily use it at my kids sporting events and vacations.

Great lens for the money
I chose this lens for the cost, size, and weight. It is also an excellent compliment to the 18-55mm lens that came with my NEX-5n. I've taken portraits at the 55mm range as well as zoom's at the 210mm range and both with excellent results. The autofocus is quick and almost flawless. I had the searching issue once or twice while it tried to focus on a low light subject. This was easily remedied by stopping the focus and re-focusing the subject. Not much of an inconvenience, but worth metioning. Overall, I'm very pleased with this lens!

Good value
This lens is a good travel lens. More specifically, it is an inexpensive compact lens that serves its purpose and at the same time damaging or losing it would not be painful financially. It clearly does not have the optical quality of more expensive fixed maximum aperture zoom lenses. Also, on an a6500 at the long end of the zoom range, the auto focus seems to struggle even with adequately illuminated subjects. I'm not sure if the lens or camera is at fault, but I have not had any issues with fixed aperture zoom lenses on this camera.

Fine for video, not so good for stills
I use this on a NEX-7 that I bought to use as a digital back for my existing lenses. There is significant fringing past about 150mm. I'm not really a zoom shooter, but I have been accompanying my wife on some birding expeditions. She uses a little Nikon P510 that generates much, much better photos than this lens on the NEX-7.That said, these NEX lenses are great for video, where the performance at the widest apertures and maximum extension are not as critical. If you have one of the NEX camcorders, it would be a good addition.

Good lens for the money
This lens has a great zoom range, is light and easy to use. The image stabilization works pretty well and it produces pretty sharp images. My only complaint is how physically long it is, but since it is a long zoom lens, I will have to forgive that. I bought this lens at the B&H store, and their floor model was falling apart a bit-- the rubber rings were loose and floppy, etc. I'm sure that lens gets a worse beating than most single owner lenses, however i'm curious to see how this fairly inexpensive lens holds up over time.

Powerful but slow
I guess you get what you pay for. The 18 - 200 I am assuming is better at more than twice the price. This lense is slow in two ways. The apperture, which is advertised right on the box. I knew that would be slow. But my main complaint is the speed in which it focuses at full zoom. While photographing my son's flag football games, I ended up with lots of blury shots because it was taking so long to focus. I don't think mannually focusing is an option on a bright day since the camera has no viewfinder.

Well Worth The Cost
I use a wide angle zoom lens for 90% of shots, and I got tired of missing shots while tradeing lenses. For awhile I tried carrying two large SLR cameras. The one with the long lens weighed 5.5 Lbs. and was too much for this old man. The new sony NEX-6 with this lens weighs a third of what I used to carry and seems to get the job done well enough for the size, weight and cost. The zoom on this lens is the smootest that have ever felt. Overall build quality is better than I expected at this price.
