Amazing photo quality

May 13, 2019

Bought this for my son who just graduated from college. He wanted something smaller than a SLR but still wanted low light capability and to be able to use a variety of lenses. We went to a nature preserve and spent a few hours testing it out and the detail in the pictures is amazing even when enlarged quite a bit. The camera feels good in hand and even with the larger lens is easy to pack. The two lens bundle with free (actually useful) accessori... Show More

Packs way more power for the price

Dec 31, 2014

I bought this camera for my wife as a Christmas present. Finding that it's a really nice mirror less camera and with a Nikon to Sony adapter I can join some really great lenses to the body to get great looking shots. Well let me tell you the I can't be happier! The Nikkor 50 and 28 that I have combined with it are great! The camera is light and I can get low angle shots with the flip up monitor with ease. Great small camera

May 11, 2014

Needed something small and light. Shoulder could not handle my Sony DSLR--did not want to be to obvious walking around and wanted something I could keep in my jacket pocket and pull out for street photography. Also wanted a camera that took quality photos. The A6000 did all that. My main complaint is that operation is not intuitive. Fortunately there is some overlap with my Alpha 700. The 6000 will however do a lot more once I figure things out. ... Show More

16-50 kit lens is a real stinker

Dec 17, 2015

Love the camera - hate the lens! The 16-50 is a soft lens on good days, an awful lens on cloudy or overcast days. I had the best results using the camera in Aperture priority mode at f8. I photograph architectural subjects with my Nikon 810 most of the time. I tried using the little Sony, and wound up reshooting the job with the 810...just not up to the quality I need. I suspect the Zeiss 12mm lens might be an improvement - but I'm hesitant to sp... Show More

Excellent Camera!

Aug 7, 2017

This is my first camera. I chose this Sony a6000, because my father, a professional photographer, recommended it. I could not be happier with this purchase and this camera. I have gotten enough good shots, I mean shots exceeding my artistic expectations and hopes for expression, that I am thoroughly hooked on this camera specifically and photography in general. just plain great

Jan 1, 2015

I bought this camera kit as a companion to my canon 7D. For light travel, it is awesome, although I need to test with additional lens combinations, to see it matches up to the 7D with a 24-105, or 70-200 2.8. The battery life is similar to other mirror less cameras which is considerably less than a typical DSLR, although with the cost and weight of the camera, just carry a few additional batteries. This is a mirror less, so i rated for mirror les... Show More

Amazing little Thing

This is an amazing camera. It's just the right size for street / travel photography, lightweight, built well, feels great in the hands. Operates fast and without any hiccups and issues. Image Quality is best for a crop sensor. Image is really clean with ISO up to 1600 (Zero Noise Reduction), Dynamic Range and Shadow recovery is great. Jpegs are very good. AF is very fast and accurate. Shutter is nice and not too loud. EVF isn't sharp enough but i... Show More

There are notable improvements to the automatic functions which makes it a lot easier to hand the camera off to a stranger and be able to be in the family shots while still getting a good picture. The wifi connectivity and remote with my android phone is also impessive. The increase in speed for the auto focus is very welcome especially when taking pictures of my always movin... Show More

nice alternative to my DSLR

Mar 25, 2016

I really like this camera. I have a $$kind of point and shoot. While that takes very nice photos, I usually use my Sony DSLR to take product photos. But it is cumbersome to take out. Now I intend to use this one instead.I just hope the generic battery holds up like a genuine one, I have not tried that yet. But I am loving the camera and the bag, but I do have a little bit of a hard time getting the little click release to let go. I have ordered a... Show More

Install a screen protector before using

May 1, 2014

Received my A6000 on 5/28. Attached Sony shoulder strap and went for a walk with the new camera. An hour later got home to review the images. Noticed that the lower half of the rear view-screen was covered in tiny scratches. I was carefull with the A6000 while walking, with the camera only rubbing against cotton shirt. No metal. No buttons. Sony's response? Sorry. Obviously, the rear screen is covered in substandard plastic. I've since added the ... Show More

I'm a pro Canon shooter (13+ years), but I wanted something smaller and lighter. This is my fun rig, but I'm looking for pro applications too. The diopter has enough adjustment to allow me to shoot through the viewfinder without glasses... something I've never been able to do with my 5D2s. Today, I shot the interior of a house. Lots to like in a small package

Jan 25, 2016

Bought this camera to have something in between a Lumix point and shoot and my Canon 5D. It takes a long time to become comfortable with a camera with so many features. For the moderate cost its hard to beat. On the down side, the kit lenses are a bit of a disappointment. I was hoping for faster lenses although the high ISO sensitivity makes up for some of this. Battery charging time is long and life appears short. Better carry a couple of extra ... Show More

A little powerhouse!

Jan 4, 2015

Using around the house now, but hopefully will use professionally in the near future after familiarizing myself with vast menu. Build is metal and solid, AF is fast and accurate. First experience with a MILC. Liking the difference, especially the EVF and the ability to view what finished image will look like before pushing the shutter. Manual in box is shamefully inadequate for the potential of product. Still lots to learn. Feel confident product will do the work expected of it once I'm educated to its potential. Use in full auto or with a multitude of menu settings. Great Fn options as well.

Best alternative to a DSLR

Aug 12, 2014

Having tried the NEX-5R last year, this update addresses EVERY concern/issue I had and introduces some great features. The AF system is truly exceptional (only rivaled by top tier DSLR's). The only downfall is the lens selection offered by Sony but should be addressed in time. Video is something even more so amazing on this. After taking a few sample clips I could have sworn I was watching footage rivaling Discovery channel documentaries. This camera is fast in just about everything it does. It's reignited my passion for photography and I can't wait for more trips/vacations to bring it along.

Superb, every time!

Jul 9, 2017

I came around (finally) to mirrorless when I looked at the specs, reviews and refreshing price tag. I've been a Nikon fan since the F1 and 2, and am THOROUGHLY over it thanks to this. Mine's been to Hawaii and Peru, stunning shots and durable camera in a light package, day and night, with 5 different lenses. The only negative is that it's STILL being sold for more than I paid for it almost 2 years ago! I'm aching to get a 6500 with 4k video for no other reason than 4k, but so far Sony has stuck to it's pricing. Shop around though or even buy this one used...there won't be ANY buyer's remorse!

Camera worth buying!

Jun 22, 2017

My a6000 was shipped quickly with no problems with the packaging. The image quality the pictures take is really worth your time to look at if you've got the right lens. For the price, you get a fair amount of choices if you want to stick to native lenses. While some may argue that the quantity of choices are low, expanding to vintage lenses with the right mount still have a great image quality. If you are a beginner, rest assured knowing that there is a great community of forums that you could explore that could guide you to the choice of lens that is suitable that pair well with this camera.

The Sony A6000 is both lightweight and powerful. I love the 11fps feature with autofocus in-between each shot. Face recognition and tracking are handy as well. Love the 24 megapixels. Can take great indoor shots without flash. There's a great video by Jason Lanier (pro photographer) on YouTube titled 10 Reasons Why a Professional Photographer Left Nikon and started shooting with Sony, which highlights this camera's strengths. Also, do a google search for an in-depth instructional video by Gary Fong (another pro photographer) called Unleashing The Power Of Your Sony A6000. Step-by-step GREAT!
