Excellent Lens

Jan 7, 2016

I ordered these during Christmas and carried them on my recent trip. These lens have fast focus and very good resolution. Am satisfied so far. Still need to test it more for night shots and night sky photography. Would recommend this lens for all OMD owners.

Best Lens in My Collection

Dec 16, 2015

As has been noted before, this lens performs extremely well. My copy, at least, gives excellent image quality wide open at all focal lengths with virtually no chromatic abberation at 18X24 print size, no flare shooting backlit objects, nearly undetectable distortion at all focal lengths, vignetting is slight only at wider angle settings and only in the corners wide open. It balances well on my Panasonic GX8 and has very solid and attractive const... Show More

Fast walkaround lens with smooth bokeh and fantastic IQ

Dec 16, 2015

This lens has a solid build and feel to it without being too heavy. The zoom range is perfect for everyday use and makes for a good walkaround lens. Wide enough to use indoors as well. With the 2.8 Aperture it creates a nice shallow depth of field. The only negative about this lens(and maybe its more on the camera I use) but it is long enough that the flash gets cutoff and you can see the outline of the lens when using on camera flash

Makes all the difference, solid build

Dec 13, 2015

My standard walk around 14-150 can't compete with the speed and solid build of this lens. The added weight is well worth it.

Equivalent 24-80 in 35mm = great travel lens

Dec 1, 2015

Especially for hiking. On an Olympus OMD E-M10 II the DXOMark = 20. Only negative is that f22 is unusable (diffraction?), even though it's not really needed with the MFT massive depth of field at larger apertures. From f2.8 to f16 it's Canon L quality sharp. And it close-focuses to about 8.

Perfect for bmpcc!!!!

Oct 14, 2015

I used this lens for the black magic pocket cinema camera and it worked like a charm!!!! Smooth focus and perfect balance on the camera. This lens gives you a great range on that camera. I'm surprised more people don't use this lens for video .

Sharp Images and Great Build

Sep 24, 2015

I first rented this lens with the OMD EM-1 on a vacation to CA. I was impressed by the build of the camera and lens and the great images they produced. And the gear was much lighter and portable than my DSLR with the standard pro zoom. I have since sold my DSLR lenses and purchased the same combo. Fantastic lens for the m43 system!

Great zoom

Aug 26, 2015

This is a well built, good zoom lens for micro four-thirds, with fast autofocus, nice bokeh, and I really enjoy the flexibility of a zoom in this range. It is heavier than other micro four-thirds lenses, but it balances nicely on my body. However, I find that I prefer prime lenses on my OM-D EM-5 Mark II as they provide much sharper images with more contrast and brighter colors. Prime lenses are almost always going to be sharper than zooms, but I... Show More

My New Daily Lens

Aug 25, 2015

After outstanding success with the new 40-150 Olympus micro lens for my new OMD body, I purchased this lens for the mid-range. This lens replaced my steady 14-54 Olympus lens I used with an adapter, which served me well on E1 & E3 for years. This lens is fast and sharp, a real pleasure to use. The whole set up is remarkable in low light. The compact size of the OM body and lens is a real plus, especially for someone like me who carries a camera o... Show More

Well worth it.

Aug 17, 2015

I've been using olympus cameras since the e-420 and I always liked using the standard kit lens (14-42mm). I also own a 11-22mm but is really big, so almost all the time I always went back to my old kit lens when using my E-PL1 and E-M1. This lens is the same size as my old kit lens. It feels at home in the E-M1. The build quality is really good, it feels way better than my old 11-22mm. Very fast to focus and is very easy to switch to manual focus... Show More

Happy with it

Aug 11, 2015

Switched from a Canon 70D with a 17-55mm f/2.8 lens to an OM-D E-M1 with this one and I'm happy with the results. Excellent image quality in a much lighter package than what I had before.

Worth the cost, Better than expected

Jul 23, 2015

I have used prime lenses for decades but found this lens to easy to use with vivid color. The images appear warmer with this lens than my 17 and 45 primes. I have never paid so much for a lens but I think it was worth the price for the quality of build and image and the ease of traveling with one lens.

Expensive but worth it

I bought this lens along with Olympus OM-DE-M1 camera about three weeks ago. I am very happy with the image quality. The focusing is pretty fast and it produces amazing picture quality.

Solid lens

Jul 17, 2015

Recently got this lens and I do see noticeable improvement over the kit lens. Focus is quick, controls are nice, build is solid. I have it on my E-P3 and find it comfortable to hold, although it is big enough to obstruct the tiny built-in flash. And also if I pay premium price for the premium grade lens from the premium Japanese brand I don't expect it to be made in China.

Lovely lens that takes great pics

Jul 12, 2015

Haven't used this very long but I very much like the quality of the lens and the images it takes. A bit heavy for m4/3 lens but the quality is worth is. It's fast and soooo much lighter than my equivalent focal length Canon.

What a charmer!

Jul 6, 2015

This lens represents my first foray into the world of micro 4/3's photography, and I have been more than a little surprised by not only the lens but the Olympus EM-1. This lens is so quick and easy to use. Since it is the resident lens for the system, I expected it to be fully integrated and that is certainly without saying, but it's very difficult for me to convey the feeling with how simple and fluid everything integrates. Awesome all purpose zoom

Jun 12, 2015

I shoot video on a GH4, and I recently switched from the 12-35 Panasonic to this lens for my main lens. The focus ring's hard stops are amazing, and the images are crisp, sharp and beautiful while still having plenty of character. The build quality is ridiculous. The lens feels like a tank. While it isn't image stabilized, I shoot almost entirely on a monopod or tripod anyway, and I really don't miss the stabilization on the 12-35 that often.

Good beginning wide range

Jun 9, 2015

I am using this lens as an all purpose lens for my street photography project. I have always used Olympus cameras and lenses and this lens has not disappointed me. It's size weight and ease of operation are a help when I see the opportunity for a shot. It has been a while since I've been shooting so I'm still getting used to working with the lens. The transition has not been difficult. The more I work with it the easier it gets.
