Great portrait lens!!
I have the Panasonic GX1. Been using it for about a month with the 20mm pancake lens. Which I like a lot but I wanted a longer lens. I got the Oly Zuiko 45mm f1.8 and I love it!! I tried it out on a professional shoot last week (along with my Canon gear/L primes) and a couple of the shots with this lens on the GX 1ended up being used by the client. It does great wide open (although I stopped it down to f2.2), nice bokeh. Haven't used it enough to find the absolute sweet spot yet, but..great lens!!

Just my luck I get a bad copy
I just put this lens up against a Panasonic 25mm and a Panasonic 12-35 at the same f-stop - the 45mm was noticeably softer in the center of the frame. Actually the image overall was soft. Pictures taken with dual flashes fired wirelessly, static subject, same camera to subject distance. I'm requesting an RMA and probably just sticking with the other two lenses. Kind of disappointed considering how good all the reviews have been on this lens. I guess there are always bad copies out there.

Fantastic Short Portrait Lens
Very sharp and contrasty. Cool color rendition. 1.8 aperture dramatically increases focus speed for most cameras and gives you a brighter live view. stopped down to f/4 it's up there with the canon 85 1.2L

Amazing lens
I bought this for to use on my Olympus E-M5. It blows me away every time I put it on and shoot with it. I have used it for portraits and even as a walk around lens. I visit this park near my house and enjoy photographing the sandhill cranes. You can get pretty close and this lens did not let me down. It could focus a little closer but other than that it is perfect.

Great lens at a reasonable price
I purchased this lens as one of two primes (the other is the Lumix 20mm f1.7) to use with my Olympus OM-D. I am relatively new to photography and interchangeable lens cameras, and was very impressed both by the camera (but that's for a separate review) and this lens. There's a huge difference in image quality between this lens and the kit lens. More than I would have expected given the sensor size. The lens's speed makes it possible to get very s... Show More

wow
Great lens. Moving from a point and shoot to m4/3 was a huge improvement. And this lens was a huge step up from the kit. I'm sure there are pros out there that could find something to gripe about, but I can't. Sharpness, fast AF, nice MF ring. This thing has it all.

Top notch
Great focal length for people pictures and for those street shots where you want to get a field of view that so many of the older painters went for. Wonderful to have this lens and reminds me of an 85 mm f1.8 Nikon lens I had in the 80s.

Love this lens
Nice bokeh, fast, accurate AF. Consistent quality output. Purchased about a month ago and has not come off camera since. Highly recommend this lens.

A game changer
I have been enjoying my Pen Mini alot with the kit lens, even using it for a couple of gigs. However, there is no comparison between the kit lens and the 45 M Zuiko. In a word - incredible!

Outstanding Portrait Lens
A+ lens. What is not to like about this lens? The silver color, and that black is not (yet) available. Everything else I can say about it is positive. Compare the dimensions and weight of this lens on an MFT body to, for example, a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 on a full frame body. Such is the comparable lens/body combination. Yes, very different systems, and both have their benefits. Personally, I like having an essentially weightless system thrown over my... Show More

Just Amazing PHOTOS
Recieved mine on the day of my wifes' birthday. How lucky is that! Mounted it on my newly purchased E-PM1 and shot over 200 pictures. 80 percent of the photos came out like professional photos. The other 20 percent was user error. Very happy with lense. This is a must buy lense for 4/3 camera system.

Sharp fast short telephoto
i bought this for use with my e-p2. Many years ago I was a pro-photographer, now it's all for pleasure but still I like good sharp (from corner to corner) fast lenses. Most lenses for digital cameras seem soft (especially in corners and wide open) and have other issues --- bad build, chroma problems, and so on. I was pleasantly surprized by the quality and performance of this lens, reminded me of some of my old prime Nikon lenses.

Awesome isolation
This is a must buy lens for the four thirds format along with the 20mm. Only suggestion when using it wide open you might need an nd filter. Besides that super fast focus and build quality .

Simply sensational on the OM-D
A perfect complement to the OM-D: small, light, extremely sharp, even wide open, and with lovely bokeh. Portraits are its forte, but can be used any time an equivalent field of view of 90mm is needed. At this price, there is nothing in the market place that can compare, in my view. I have this lens as well as the Panasonic 25/1.4, and the Panasonic 20/1.7, and plan on getting both the Oly 12/2 and the Panny 7-14, and these lenses (with various CV... Show More

Super sharp lens
After reading other reviews, I had to try it. Yes this is a super sharp lens . Wish Olympus would include lens hood and case. Light weight, easy to use. This lense and the Panasonic 20mm are my go to 4/3 lenses. Don't even bother with the 14-42 kit lens any more. Used with E PL2

A Must Buy Lens
Excellent lens, I found it to be sharp at all f stops. Just a perfect reasonably priced lens for your Micro four thirds camera.

a really great prime lens
I am using this lens with my Panasonic G3 camera. It is a really nice lens, now one of the best I own. It is sharp, and takes photos with nice depth. It is also very good for indoor low light shots, and has great depth of field. It has become the main lens I keep on my camera.

Fast focus, great quality
Have been living in the world of zooms for many years now and decided to giving a prime a try again (have not had a prime since my OM-1 decades ago). Nice lens, would say it is consistently faster at focus and the image quality is great. Have been tied to a zoom for so long it is really making me think about my picture, methinks zooms have made me a bit lazy (won't be giving them up though). If I had one complaint it would be I wish it would focus a bit closer, minor issue.

One of the lenses that make m4/3 great
Small, light and excellent image quality is what helps make m4/3 a viable high quality photographic system. The lens is very sharp wide open which gives a shallow DOF and makes it good for isolating a subject. It's a natural for portrait photography. The only quibbles with the lens is that it doesn't focus very close (most m4/3 lenses don't) and it doesn't come with a lens hood.

Great lens
I use this everyday on my Olympus Epl-2 and Panasonic GX-1 the quality of the optics and the Bokeh blow me away Used to have a canon with the f4 24-105mm L lens different type items I know but cant compare in quality If you want a 90mm equivelent lens with great optics light weight this is a must purchase

Wow Wow Perfect
Used the lens for street shooting and low light indoors. Excellent. The first glance through the viewfinder told the story. Even though I have the Panny 20mm 1.7 the Olympus was obviously sharper everywhere.

Cost-effective, decent image quality
Totally adequate general-purpose lens. Sharp image, decent color, suitable in low light. Slight greenish/yellow color tone in less-than-perfect lighting conditions. Acceptable bokeh, although not as creamy as that of Nikon and Canon 50mm equivalent prime lenses. Olympus 12mm f2 produces better overall image quality, at twice the price! Highly recommended for the price.
