ESI U24 XL - USB Digital Audio Interface
MPN's:
Number 2
This is my second unit and the first is still going strong. The only disappointing things to report are the USB cable changed, its a generic black cable compared to a transparent cable, and it is also shorter now; the new case has no feet (photo), so watch out for surfaces; and the case finish is rougher than my original unit. I have had no issues using this as a playback device on Windows. However on Linux sometimes ALSA goes wonky and no audio comes from it, but a reboot fixes it.

Works great
I'm using this unit to receive an SPIDF feed from my studio converters and it takes that SPDIF signal and sends it to my laptop via USB. I use the laptop to stream as I mix for clients so they can listen anywhere they have internet. This unit worked right out of the box, hooked up the cables and it was good to go. Can't comment on sound quality as I'm not using it's conversion.

Great if it would not lock up
This unit has the exact features I need and sounds great, but it locks up (stops recording or playing) after a few minutes or a couple hours. Tried reinstalling drivers, several PCs, no-go.

If you have an outboard ADC and preamp
Then this is what you need to connect to your computer. Why spend more money on an interface with inferior preamps and ADCs that you will just bypass?
