Can't be beat for convenient travel
Great picture quality, lots of user control (or none, if that's what you want), and a great size to have at all times. What more can you ask for ... unless it's more zoom? I've been looking for a good smaller-than-DSLR solution for years and am MUCH happier with the RX100 than I have been with my 4/3 system, but miss having more telephoto range. This has become my go-to camera so will probably trade in my expensive 4/3 system. Glad to see external battery charger is now available, even if it's from a third party.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 Digital Camera
The combination of large sensor and superior lens makes this camera excellent for almost any condition. It has great choice of modes and options to select from and the user interface is easy. The pictures it takes are amazing in clarity, detail, and colors.

Fantastic Camera
I've been using a DSLR for about 3 years. It takes great photos, but is heavy to carry when traveling. I have been searching for a lightweight camera that offered some my my DSLR features. I found it in the Sony RX 100. The camera is lightweight, easy to use, offers continuous shooting, wonderful zoom, manual controls, and crystal clear photos. The only thing I really miss is a view finder. Even though you can see the screen better than other cameras in the sun, nothing beats a viewfinder.

Power In Your Pocket
Yes, this camera does live up to the hype. Sure it won't beat larger sensor cameras in overall dynamic range and/or high ISO quality but I give kudos to Sony for bringing out something that is a balance of IQ and pocketability. Lot of Pro Features in a Small Package
When I go on vacation, my photos are my souveniers. I spend a lot of time putting together shots to make them just right. However I hate dragging around my DSLR and all the gear. Needs a new firmware, blow whites
Very good image quality, easy to get good photos of persons, compact. Very slow to recharge the flash so if you need to take several photos with light it won't work. RAW pictures also very bad don't expect to compensate more than 0.3-0.7 EV or you will get white center and dark conners. Should came with a USB3 port after a day shooting you will need 30 minutes to download the photos. Don't have a manual in a portable format like pdf only online so if you don't have internet you can't learn how to use it.

Great portable/compact camera
This camera creates a new market segment of potent compact cameras, and is great for that, presenting great resources and image quality. However, due to its price, one should carefully think about buying an entry level professional camera, that would cost the same.

Amazing DSLR.. just pocket sized!
Literally the photo quality that is produced from this camera rivals that of a DSLR. I've always been a fan of manual controls, and this tiny camera does not disappoint. From manual controlling not only the picture taking, but also the menus and the way the camera functions, this camera can do it all.I was never real big on all those filters and fun effects, mainly because they produced poor quality results.... this camera, however, changes all that. It makes using filters and effects fun again!Highly recommend this pocket sized wonder!

Amazing
I used the camera in low light at a Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias concert and the results were phenomenal. This is truly the best pocket camera EVER! I really like it's compact size, quality build and amazing results.

Superb and PDF User manual Download
Fantastic camera, closer to DSLR output than P&S output in my opinion.I had LX5,XZ-1,HX9V and S100 in the past 12 months but this is head & shoulders above them.

Extraordinarily Sophisticated Camera
I purchased the RX-100 to be a back up to DSLR equipment and to have in my pocket all of the time. While phone photography has become the instant camera of the era the RX-100 allows for creative control that is unsurpassed. It's sensor is what was the deciding factor -- the image quality is absolutely fantastic.

Better than I hoped
This camera is amazingly responsive and fast. It focuses more quickly than my Nikon D80 and the resolution is fabulous. Colors are excellent. I don't miss the big telephoto numbers. The detail is there in the resolution. I will always miss a viewfinder, but after 50 years in photography, I've found the camera that is tough enough, quick enough and sharp enough to take anywhere. I lost the camera just 3 weeks after having receiving it. I'm really angry and sad because it was a really great camera.... I have a DSLR and I used the RX100 for casual photo, when I didn't want to carry my big DSLR. The quality of the image is great, low amount of noise until 1600 ISO. Great details. bought it for night video
Rx 100 and panasonic tm700 for video I use the rx100 exclusively for video I wanted something better than my pana tm700 for low light. I am very satisfied with the low light shots so far. The daytime video is better for the rx100 than I expected after looking at some online reviews. Great pocketable high-quality camera
I use this camera as a carry-anywhere alternative to a DSLR. I want to be able to make poster-sized prints of my images, and this camera allows that. The lens is fast and gives very sharp images at wide angle (F1.8, 28mm equiv.), but slows down by almost 3 F-stops when zoomed (F4.9, 100mm equiv.). Hard Copy of User Manual not included
I'm very frustrated because the online User Manual is in HTML format and can only be printed page by page. Some pages contain one or two sentences. The manual cannot be downloaded as a single file. Sony Customer Support directed me to Fedex Online printing service but they only accept uploads from a computer, not links. I am thinking of returning the camera.

Pro finds excellance in small places
I shoot with both nikon and Canon professional equipment. The sony RX100 is like having one of those great,heavy cameras in my pocket. The files are clean and to tell you the truth most of my corporate clients want smaller files not bigger ones.

Excellent small camera
This is by far the best camera in it's size category. The 20 Megapixels however is misleading. A Nikon D90 with fewer pixels will actually produce a sharper image with more noticeable detail.
