Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Lens (Black)
A Great Camera!
My sony a6000 replaced a Nikon d40 kit. What a step up! What I notice most is low light performance. I can take quite good pictures inside without a flash. I have paired the camera body with the Sony 35mm f/1.8 lens, so I can't comment o the kit lens. I am still learning how to use the wireless to post pictures directly online, but hope to be doing that soon. I love this camera!

Sony Alpha a6000 great buy for me
For years I've been carrying a small digital point and shoot camera on my overseas trips, principally because I didn't want the bulk and weight of a large professional grade camera. A recent trip to Mach Picchu convinced me that I just had to have a better camera, and the Sony mirrorless a6000 fit the bill perfectly. It's size is inconsequentially larger than the camera I've been carrying, but the quality of its pictures is a quantum leap ahead. This was a great buy for me.

great size and options
Size and features are great. Purchased Zeiss lens but no updates for firmware as of yet which is a bummer since it drains the battery

Perfect travel camera
As someone who travels nearly half he year, I needed a flexible, light weight camera that could still give me gallery-ready results. Increasingly my professional friends said that they found mirroless was giving them the same or better results than their traditional SLR,mouth were afraid to make the change or found that the investment they had in lenses was prohibiting the move. After years lugging my Nikon, I'm thrilled to say that going to this... Show More

An Amazing Little Camera!
I wanted a light, small backup camera for my heavy full-frame DSLR. After doing extensive research I decided to get the Alpha A6000. For the price, I can't imagine a better camera. It suits my needs perfectly for street photography, portraits, and travel. The video capability is exceptional for a still cameraof course, I would have expected that from Sony, with their years of building high-quality camcorders. The audio quality for videotaping exc... Amazing!
Light & compact......great for hiking, street photography and everyday camera. Love the customizable buttons and high burst rate. I also own a Nikon D7000 whichI love especially in low light but its size & weight prevents me carrying it on a daily basis but with the Sony A6000 I now carry a camera all the time.

Love it
I sold my canon g12 (my 3rd of the g series) and bought this camera. The image quality, speed, and ease of menus makes it a much better carry around camera. I carry it everywhere! I also love the wifi capabilities.

Outstanding Mirrorless
I own the NEX-6. This camera takes it to the next level. The amount of flexibility it provides by allowing you to customize controls and create presets is phenomonal. Worth every penny! Just buy one!

A great travel and general family camera
While I have only had it for a couple of weeks, I love it. 11 pictures a second, makes catching those special moments in sports easy. One button video at the tip of your fingers. Enough resolution for large prints. As a long term Canon owner, I am still adjusting to some control differences. tg I s light enough to have at hand at all times. I recommend it to all serious photographers.

After my NEX 7 body died....
Bought the Alpha a6000 after my NEX 7 body died (after 52,000 images--I'm not complaining)--with a little trepidation--the price of the 6000 is about half of what I paid for the NEX7--so I worried that the quality would be a step down-- Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case--the camera feels familiar, even though some of the controls are in different places--the double thumb wheels on the NEX 7 have been replaced--but I like the mode whe... Absolutely phenomenal camera
I have been a Nikon guy for 30 years. I have a ton of lenses and my current favorite Nikon SLR is the D7100. (I prefer the DX format to the FX format for a number of reasons). It's a great still camera, but shoots absolutely terrible video. Sony on the other hand is known for making amazing video cameras, but has struggled to gain market share in the stills world. My wife got an a5000 and I was incredibly impressed with it, but it lacks manual co... Show More

Best Bang for Buck in my opinion
I own a Nikon d7000 and a D5100 which are both wonderful cameras. I have taken 10s of thousands of pictures with both and I am mostly satisfied with my user experience. My only two issues are that I often don't have either with me for a great photo opportunity because of size and focusing accuracy with my f1.8 primes are sometimes out. So I decided to try the mirror-less world. I debated between the Olympus OM-10, Panasonic GX7 and the Sony A6000... Show More

One of Sony's best kept secrets
If you have a Sony Camera, you will love this one it does everything. If you are undecided, watch Gary Fong's video a6000 on B & H. If you have owned any kind of Sony product you know it does not come with a manual, there is a .pdf manual at the support site.

Great Sensor, ok batter life
First thing first, this camera has a great sensor. It can take amazing pictures if you have the right lenses. Also, the viewfinder is good for what you pay for. Build quality is typical Sony. However, the control layout of this camera is not that great. It should have one more dial on the grid for better manual controls. In addition, the battery life of this camera sucks. You will lost a lot of battery by just sitting your camera on the desk. Anyways, I love this camera even though it has some shortcoming.

Small and Excellent Camera
I bought this camera for video and snap shots. I am not a cellphone photographer. I need a real camera. This one delivers excellent images with the Sigma 30mm f2.8 lens. That is the only lens I bought for it because Sony doesn't seem to have good, inexpensive lenses. The three Sigma lenses built for the E mount are all very good and reasonably priced, if not fully functional with the AF system. No worries. Just keep your subject in the middle portion of the frame and images will be very sharp with excellent color and range.

It's what I hoped for!
This camera is everything I hoped for. I use Canon cameras and lenses for work, but I wanted something personally with just as much capability, but wasn't nearly as big. This is perfect. I recommend getting the a6000 with the kit lens, and also looking at getting a few other lenses that suit your needs. If you're looking for a great camera at half the cost of a bigger DSLR, you found it. I've seen complaints about the battery only shooting about 400 photos - my battery has shot around 1000 before it died. So, not sure what that's about!

Best miror less for 2014
I have a couple nikon, and was looking to buy a mirror less camera for daily use. After research and talking with some photographer I decided to have this little giant, and I'm not regret at all. This is the best mirror less in the market. Love this camera, super fast and sharp pictures. My combined lens is Sony 35 f1.8 and really happy with them.

Great camera
The camera is great. Don't take my word for it. Read almost any of the professional reviews. It's light weight, sturdy, and has both a viewfinder and a tiltable rear LCD screen. I find the Function (Fn) button on the rear of the camera particularly useful. Here you can program up to 12 commonly used menu options and view them all (and change their settings) by simply pressing this one button. I also like that you can opt to disable the LCD screen, use only the viewfinder, and thereby save on battery life - which is pretty limited.
