Very good investment

May 3, 2019

I wanted to have a good camera to make some photos when I am traveling and this was a very good purchase. The quality of the photos its very good, the only think that you need to do, its to watch some tutorials on youtube on how to set up the camera depending on what type of photo do you want to make. I had to choose between Best Buy and B&H, the price of the camera was the same but the difference was that B & H was offering the accessory kit and also a better price for the extra coverage warranty for drops and spills.

Great travel camera!

Oct 6, 2014

Purchased this and the Zeiss 16-70 f4 for a trip to the Holy Land. The reviews on low-light performance sold me and I was not disappointed. Not sure if as good as my Canon 6D with the 24-105 but pretty darn close and a lot lighter to lug around. The only downside and not a really fair comparison is the the full-frame 6D allows for some serious cropping and still have a usable image. Very impressed with low-light video! Yes you need extra batteries but small price to pay to keep such a small form factor while traveling.

a6000 knocked my sockes off

Jul 17, 2014

Simply awesome camera. I upgraded from an NEX-6 (which is not too shabby either) and I could not be happier.First: IQ. I am using the Zeiss 16-70mm lens and the photos are terrific. The details and colors are stunning.I love the customization of the function keys, makes operation faster without having to go through the Menu system, which is actually very logical and easy to navigate. All in all: better that my Nikon D5300 at half the weight. BTW, Sony does not provide a hot-shoe cover, but I bought on e on* for a buck.

So far, very pleased!

Jul 31, 2017

I bought this to start the transition from heavy DSLR gear to a more manageable weight. The kit lens is actually pretty exceptional for what it is. However, using high end Nikon lenses with an adapter produces high quality images when shot in RAW. I suspect if you only shoot JPEG you will be very happy with the kit lens. If you intend to shoot RAW you will likely want some better glass. Somewhat of a learning curve involved in getting to know the camera but once you understand it the menu is fairly easy to navigate.

So far so... GREAT!

Mar 7, 2018

Have been using the camera for about two weeks now, and it takes such amazing pictures. I really think this is the best package because you get about $80 worth of accessories for free, which you could look at as a discount. Would definitely recommend to a friend, or honestly anyone looking for a compact camera that shoots (in my opinion) better than a DSLR, look no further! I found a website that lists out optimal settings for the camera below is the link: https://photographylife.com/recommended-sony-a6000-settings

So Far I love it

Jan 18, 2015

I haven't fully had the chance to really go out and shoot with it a lot. So far autofocus is really fast especially with action shots. Clear indicator that it is focused. Shoots very fast. Seems like RAW can't keep up with the 11 FPS. What I really like is I have the camera and a longer lens and it is incredibly light and portable. I really bought this to travel and am really excited to use it. I also got the Lowepro traveler 100 bag which is tiny and it fits an extra lens, charger and some accessories perfectly.

Very NICE Camera!

May 1, 2016

I bought this for my mother who didnt need a big dslr. But who wanted a nice camera thats smaller and easy to use amd this was it she LOVES it. She likes that she can get differsnt lenses for it the future but that it is small. The lcd screen on the back is awesome and the digital eye port is nice aswell. We also noticed the battery charges very fast and last a good while. When taking photos it captures quickly and focus is very fast. Over all great camera for the travel as her and my father go on cruises alot.

Good camera to start with

Feb 21, 2016

I'm a design student and was tired of snapping photos with my phone when I was out in the field doing research. I also happen to enjoy photography but haven't took the plunge into multi lens camera systems outside of some of the old analog gear I own. I like how light this camera is. The grip is chunky enough that you feel like you are holding onto something too. It takes great pictures out of the box but manual mode takes a bit of learning if you are not familiar with Sony's UI. Other that I like the camera.

A Fantastic Value

Dec 8, 2015

Just got this one as a second body. That allows me to have a wide angle on one and zoom on the other.Bought my first a600 sony 10 months ago and am still learning more about it.I shoot a lot of car shows, drag races and many other things and find this to be an amazing camera. The menus are complex but that is a challenge as I learn more about exposure. It does better in low light and high ISO than my Nikon D5200. The only thing I find not so great is that it drains the battery quickly so have spares at the ready.

great camera

Jan 2, 2015

Love this camera, comparing it with my nikon d7000 it outperforms it in almost every category except in low light. it's compact & light yet powerful and intuitive this is now my daily camera, I would have give it 5 stars however it has several issues, besides its short battery life the memory card is cumbersome to remove/install because its so close to the battery and the shutter speed is max at 40000 and some of the controls are not usable in certain settings, otherwise this could have been perfect camera!.

An great little camera

Jan 3, 2016

I've had 3 mirrorless Sony cameras. I've enjoyed all of them, including the A6000. Some have complained about the 16-50 lens. Some like it. It's a tiny zoom lens so users shouldn't expect too much from it. I don't own that lens but I have a number of auto-focus lenses and older manual focus lenses that I use with inexpensive adaptors. I get excellent results with all of them, as good as I get from my Nikon DSLR. In fact, I rarely use my Nikon now days because the Sony is much lighter and just as as capable.

Great Sensor, ok batter life

Dec 12, 2014

First thing first, this camera has a great sensor. It can take amazing pictures if you have the right lenses. Also, the viewfinder is good for what you pay for. Build quality is typical Sony. However, the control layout of this camera is not that great. It should have one more dial on the grid for better manual controls. In addition, the battery life of this camera sucks. You will lost a lot of battery by just sitting your camera on the desk. Anyways, I love this camera even though it has some shortcoming.

Excellent small camera

Feb 24, 2015

I wanted a lighter weight camera for travel abroad which takes sharp photos and is versatile. I am very happy with my purchase. The only drawback is that Sony has a poor information booklet. I relied on a video from You Tube which described how to use the camera. I like the idea of not having a huge camera around my neck as I toured. The smaller camera puts people at ease and is unobtrusive. So far, the photos have been very good and will get better as I learn how to use more of the functions available.

One very nice camera

Jan 8, 2015

This is a camera that needs to be set up right so take your time and learn what setting you need and what you don't. The autofocus of this camera is probably the best autofocus of any mirrorless camera, if you have it set up right. The picture quality is unbelievable again if you set it up right. As for ISO anything above 3200 starts to get noisy but I have used it all the way to iso6400 with out to much problem. With PP in lightroom. Battery life is a little short. But not bad for a mirrorless camera.

Great Camera

Mar 7, 2015

I was concerned about corner softness with kit lens and when looking at raw pics with sony raw convertor was disappointed. However when using lightroom using lens profile correction the corners seemed to sharpen up considerably and looked good with a judicious bit of sharpening. I would have no reservations about using this kit lens for landscapes with high frequency detail. Zooming to 18 mm from 16 seemed to make a noticeable difference too. Battery life seems better when wireless is in airplane mode.

Excellent upgrade to NEX-6 and NEX-7

May 12, 2014

Very happy with the improvements in the a6000. Having used a NEX-7 for two years, I found only one missing feature in a6000 - in-view-finder Level indicator and the body is just different enough that a new custom L-bracket is required. Lots of great new features - wifi, 3 sizes of movable focus spot, memory and customizable buttons, higher quality images, in-camera charging, wired remote, and seriously improved fast accurate focus. Also OK with the lower resolution EVF - I barely notice the downgrade.

Best Camera

May 3, 2017

I am still learning to use this camera, but it is the best I have ever had. I would like to get more lenses, but the 16-50mm works fine for the camera hobbyist. I especially like the panorama option because I love taking landscape photos but can not yet afford a super wide angle lens. The camera is super fast at focusing and tracking your subjects, and takes beautifully sharp, bright photos. It has so many features and options, I would suggest watching videos and workshops so you don't miss anything

Don't overlook this mini beast. I have had lots of fun with this camera and it is time to upgrade to the sony A7Rii... I started out using this camera just getting into photography... And..... GREAT CHOICE... Everyone i talk to goes right to Canon and Nikon.. and when i mention Sony they have a puzzling look on their face. The A6K is a fast, lite, and very agile like a leopard. perfect for walking around a Zoo or Park.. low light is not the greatest but does work very well for an inexpensive option.

A little early for a review, but...

Dec 19, 2017

I've only had the camera for a couple of weeks and the first week had no real opportunity to use it. However, after a week or so using it and getting familiar with it, I am very happy with it. The fast and accurate auto focusing is really good. The images are sharp and clear considering the capabilities of the kit lens. The lens is adequate and for the price I think it performs very well. Overall for the price I believe this camera is a great value. Lightweight and easy to take with you anywhere.

A miracle device if you have children

Oct 1, 2015

This camera has replaced my Canon 6d. I use it almost anywhere I go now. I used to have so much trouble taking photos of my 3 year old. I was kind of reluctant to ditch the full frame and move on to APC, but I am quite happy with the result. The auto focus on this camera is a beast for its class. This gotta be the most versatile camera I have ever owned. The battery life seems not to be an issue when you turn off its wireless connectivity functions. I was able to do a full day with a single charge.

See's in the dark and focuses fast

Nov 30, 2015

The a6000 is fast, compact and easy to use in its superior auto mode where it recognizes the elements of the scene and selects the appropriate settings. It has so many features that it is hard to master them all so pick a few and learn the controls for calling them up and shooting. As a negative there appear to be too many ways to do something like from the menu or from a pre set button or a customized button. But the pictures are very good and it is a lot easier to carry around then my DSLR.

Great budget camera

Dec 1, 2015

I upgraded to this a6000 from my a5100 because the a6000 now records in XAVC-S. Compared to the a5100, the a6000 comes with a hot-shoe for an upgraded mic, a viewfinder, and shoots 11fps photos excellent for sporting events. I mainly use this camera to shoot video but I also use it for photography. I am usually shooting motocross which is a very fast-paced sport and this little mirrorless camera is perfect for my needs. It's not amazing in low light, but a good fast lens will help with that.

Fun little camera

Nov 20, 2014

I'm having a lot of fun with this little camera. Normally shoot with a Nikon D800E (am a severe pixel peeper) but find I miss a lot of photographs just because I don't have my camera with me all the time. I wanted something I could take with me everywhere I go. Tried the Sony RX 100 first, its an awesome camera but just to tiny for my big hands. The a6000 seems like a perfect fit. And I have to say 11fps is a lot of fun. B&H was wonderful to order from, have had great experiences with them.

Great Camera For the Price

Dec 26, 2017

This camera was purchased with a specific intent. Since I already own one Sony A6000 and have 2 lenses for it as well as a Leica 'R' Adapter I knew that it would do what I wanted it to do. It was purchased specifically because it has the ability to be hooked to my phone or my iPAD for composition and exposure. Since the camera will create a WiFi connection that can be hooked to the Sony Play Memories APP I can place the camera where it needs to be and products photographed quickly & easily.
