Excellent, light weight and very sharp lens
This is a very sharp lens that is great for portraits or landscapes. Just as sharp as the Olympus 45mm in my opinion but with added features. Excellent close focus capabilities and built in stabilizer. I feel that this lens equals 85mm lenses from full frame companies like Nikon, Canon or Sigma. A great lightweight lens to use everyday.

Epitome of Micro Four Thirds sizing and quality
This lens out performs my previous but well rated Oly 45mm. It's perfectly good for portraits taking in the cost differences of PL f1.4 or Oly Pro f1.2. The results are very acceptable and sufficient for what I like to end up with. This f1.7 should be much enjoyed for so much packed in so small a lens. After all, that was my objective on getting into MFT. This lens seriously competes with bigger and more $$$.

Perfect lens!
This lens is excellent quality and fits perfectly in my setup. Nice and sharp and great focal length for portraits and longer shots.

Amazingly sharp!
I recently purchased a Olympus Zuiko 75mm f1.8 (as part of the portarit kit), but after trying out the lens, the 75mm just feel sluggish and did not focus where I point to (on the E-M5 MkII screen). I got about 1 usable photo out of 5 or 6. Thinking maybe this is a defective copy, I returned the kit (along with the 45mm), and purchase the Panasonic 42.5mm instead. It arrived and I can't wait to try it out. I find the focus speed of the 42.5mm to ... Show More

Awesome!
Great lens, perfect for interview shoots and portraits. Great stabilization for b-roll paired with the gh4/gh5.

Rounds out my kit.
Excellent lens for the price. Bokeh is great and if you can get far enough from your subject makes an excellent interview lens. Eventually would like the Leica 1.2 42.5 but it's a lot of money.

Best value for money!
Super tiny and light lens, great for run and gun with almost identical quality to it's bigger sister the 1.2

Best Value
Amazing lens for the price. Color isn't quite up there with the 12-35 or Leica-designed glass, but it's very close.

Well Done
This is a very nice lens. Beautiful & sharp images and fits the system (size wise) very well. It doesn't have the same feeling of quality (heft and size) as the Leica lenses but it is a much better value than the Leica 42.5. At least for now, it will do very nicely.

Above Expectations!
Bought this primarily for video but also to do some occasional stills. First thing that blew me away was how tiny the lens is, so portable, it fits in my pocket. The autofocus is FAST, blows my other Panasonic lenses (20mm & 12-60) away in that regard. It's also very sharp wide open which is nice since 1.7 isn't actually 1.7 on an MFT. Great value and quality all around.

Great Lens
I used this lens on my GH4 with V-Log setting, in a night scene with one panel light and an overhead street light. The shot turned out very good. As for daylight, great DOF, great close-up shots and easy to manually focus. I love this lens.

Wow, just... WOW
This lens is worth every penny! Very sharp and the bokeh is just GORGEOUS. It is a small lightweight lens but the quality is fantastic. This is my no# portrait lens for sure! But even just for anything (landscape, street), this lens is great! It is fast, sharp, and does very well in low light. And did I mention the bokeh..??

Very fast lens great for small sensor cameras that need more light. I use it on a G7 and recommend it!

Great lens
Great lens. Works well with my Olympus OMD EM1. I chose this lens over the Olympus 45mm f1.8 because it focuses closer, comes with a lens hood, and from what I read, is a little sharper in the corners. After receiving it, I am very satisfied with its performance.

Highly recommended.
This lens is an absolute steal. Moderately priced, sharp across the frame, and it includes Power IS, as well. No negatives with this lens.

Xlnt and a bargain
Compared this on a GX85 against the Nikon 85mm f1.8G on a D810 and was surprised on how well it did. I'm glad I didn't get the Nocticron 1.2, which I'm sure is better but is also big, heavy and very expensive, defeating the reason for owning the GX85 as a small carry-everywhere alternative to the D810.

Very good lens, but not exceptional.
Usable at full aperture, very sharp but not ultra-sharp, light, convenient minimum focusing distance.

This lens gives me clear pictures-much clearer than without
Photo was blurry without this lens! When I attached this lens to the camera it lets me take a picture that is MUCH MUCH clearer. (picture was a white blob before attaching lens) I will continue to put a lens on the camera for a clear picture. I must admit that the camera is much more compact without a lens but you need a lens to take a sharp picture I now use a lens for every photo I take-my photography has improved 100%

Save your Money
It's OK, I guess. Not that sharp... soft focus, and why on God's green earth is the lens the size of a golf ball? Even the lame Panasonic 12-35mm lens is bigger than that... the diameter of the 42.5mm f1.2 is what this one should be too. If you want real quality with decent resolution go with a full frame sensor, don't go cheap like i mistakenly did.

Great short tele
3 stops faster than the basic 14-42mm kit lens, and a whole lot sharper, even wide open at f/1.7. Love this lens!

Outstanding
Excellent portrait lens & great value. Transitions from sharp to bokeh are that of a very high quality DSLR lens. A must have for micro 4:3 users. It delivers beautiful results and easily doubles as a macro lens which is great for those of us bringing gear along on remote camping trips. An essential piece to a perfect 3 lens kit, just add a wide angle zoom and a telephoto zoom and you have your bases covered.

Great lens for portraits
This lens is advertised as a portrait lens, but I hoped that with 85mm (35mm equivalent) focal length it can be also used as a general purpose lens. First, this lens does take beautiful portrait images. I can definitely say that the first few shots I made with it are the best portraits I have ever made. I am using it with E-PL8, and to my surprise, the images look better than I've taken with Canon T2i and Pentax K-50. It is not just the technical... Show More

Really nice portrait lens.
Really nice portrait lens. This lens is a must have for Lumix users. Sharp, fast and image stabilization. I just used this lens for the first time to shoot some head-shots and I was completely satisfied with the results. I love that shallow depth of field you can achieve with this lens, not to mention it has a little macro capability too. My only criticism is I wished it had a little more weight to it.
