Great travel camera replacement
For Christmas, I finally replaced my 6MP Fuji f31FD travel point-and-shoot with the Panasonic ZS100. My... how camera tech has improved since 2007! Quite a learning curve lies ahead with this powerhouse, but its Intelligent Auto mode allowed me to start taking lovely high-res photos immediately. Two tips: First, change the diopter control beside the viewfinder to make your view as sharp as possible. I spent too much time squinting into it before ... Show More

Impressed with this little camera
I wrote a previous review that I received this model camera and had to return it because of the bottom exterior plates were not installed properly. I'm glad to say that I received a brand new ZS100 in 2 weeks after I returned the 1st one. I have been testing the new one and getting used to the menu system. This is my first Lumix camera. I am very happy with this camera. The menu system is large, it seems to do anything available on any camera, an... Show More

Returned
I've been using digital; cameras since 1999 and have upgraded when necessary. I've always stuck with the camera film brands that I was familiar with. My main camera is a Canon 7d with a number of "L" lenses. I like my photos to be hi-res and vibrant. I've been using a SL1 for vacations and with a couple of "L" lenses, it still a lot when on a bus tour. So decided to go against my normal purchases and I bought this ZS100 and took it out of the box... Show More

Pleased
Very nice camera and reasonably compact. Am investigating its many, many features, which do require reading the on-line instructions, since there are a lot of complicated ones. Basic picture taking is easy and results are very good. It is a nice camera.

Good But Not Great
Focal length is perfect for a travel camera, but the image quality is somewhat disappointing for a camera at this price point. Not as good as the lens on the Sony RX100.

Lasted 13 Months
The DMC-ZS100 was unique in having a large sensor, compact size and 10x zoom. It took pretty good pictures, and we were happy with it until yesterday, one year and three weeks after purchase, when the display began to freeze at random. When this happened, the buttons would not do anything -- we couldn't even turn it off using the power switch. Removing and re-inserting the battery cleared the symptoms temporarily. Others have also reported this p... Show More

Wrist Strap Broke In A Week - Camera Dented Everywhere
I was so excited to get this camera because it's the first really good point and shoot that I've invested some money in. The first week I had the camera I took it on a trip and the Panasonic Lumix wrist strap that came in the box with the camera broke while I was carrying it. The camera fell to the pavement and is dented in several places. B&H refused to cover this even though I purchased the product from them and it came with an additional 3 yea... Show More

Do Not Buy This Camera if Using Windows 10
I bought this camera in July of 2016, and have taken 5,000 to 9,000 photos with it in Italy, Croatia, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Alaska, and in many mainland US venues. I bought this to put in my pocket in situations where my main camera a Canon 7D was not easy to carry. I like the camera pretty much. Ordinarily, I would rate it 4-stars. But I gave it 1-star for a very basic reason. When I load photos from my Canon and m... Show More

Additional comment... touch focus and exposure
To add to my earlier review, it turns out that you can easily touch focus and exposure on off center subjects using the touch screen. See page 162 of the advanced user manual.

Panasonic ZS100
Delighted with the purchase. I did a lot of research on the cameras. Everything has it's trade-offs. It came down to the Sony RX100 or the Panasonic ZS100. The deciding factor for me was the extra zoom of the Panasonic camera. We took the camera on a trip to Colorado and it was perfect. The extra zoom was a great asset. The picture quality was excellent. I would highly recommend this camera.

A lot of camera here...
This is a very early review after a few uses this first week... - My VERY FIRST impression is that this has the feel of a very solidly build camera with decent heft, which harkens to its capabilities within. - It would be nice to have an overview of the most commonly used aspects of the camera as would be used for normal day in day out point and shoot use. As there is a lot to this camera here. But I'm getting there on a hit and miss basis. - Tou... Show More

Good but flawed
Nice compact size, zoom range and reasonably good image quality, but suffers from placement of a quirky 4K button right where your thumb needs to go to hold the camera when taking photos.

Best Feature Set for This Size
I lost my favorite high end mini cam, and needed a replacement. I'm mostly a Canon shooter, but Panasonic pretty much blows away the competition with this model. IQ seems excellent so far (I only shoot raw). Touch screen focus is indispensable. And although I used to prefer eye level viewfinder, I can see this excellent screen on this cam even in sunlight. It will take time to master all the features, but the alternative is a P&S. This is the cam... Show More

Small but Mighty
Very light and small. Takes great landscape photos as well as close-ups. Good viewfinder as well as LCD screen. Was exactly what I was looking for when hiking.

Excellent Camera!
Excellent small camera. Easy to use in automatic as well as more advanced modes. Picture quality in RAW & JPEG is outstanding. Video is terrific. ...You may however want to buy an extra battery if you do a lot of video. I took this camera on a 2 week trip and was very pleased with the results...great reach (up to the equivalent of 25-250mm)!

Promising but flawed
The ZS100 has many features that place it in a class by itself. It fills a niche that the competition has not yet addressed. The exposures have been spot on with the 1 inch sensor and the times ten telephoto is an asset. It is small enough to fit in a vest pocket, which is the reason I chose it. My only negative is that the photos are slightly on the soft side. They lack the sharpness of my FZ10 and FZ60.

So far so good
I've only had this for a few weeks now, but my impressions are positive so far. I bought this for the 10x zoom combined with the 1 inch sensor primarily. Other features that I ended up liking, though, were the touchscreen, which has been much more useful than I expected. This is the first camera I've owned with that feature, and it makes options so much more accessible than on cameras without it. My primary use is photography while on long bike r... Show More

Too complicated
I am a moderately advanced amateur photographer with experience with digital SLRs and point-and-shoots. I found this camera hard to use and not very intuitive. It seems I often got stuck in operations and needed to refer to the manual much more often than usual. And then after 6 weeks, the electronics failed somehow. Auto-focus stopped working and the view screen showed bright blue outlines on foliage and areas of high contrast. I am returning it.

This is a great compact camera
I love that for a small camera it takes jpeg+raw at the same time has tons of features and options. Easy to use for the wife also she is just a point and shoot person. But on the scn mode if you pick your feature it will always take good pictures. The only thing I wish is that would let adjust the iso, you can choose the shutter speed and f but not the iso.

Stunned!
I stopped unsing my Nikon D60 several years ago. We have an equally aged Lumix and had started to rely on cell phones. But, the grand baby, the new puppy, the Christmas tree and all the rest just did not pop. So, I bought the ZS100 confident the tech had improved in the last ten years. Wow. Everything is better. In particular the lens, oh, and the stabilization, oh, and the zero shutter lag, and on and on. Plus, there was a short learning curves ... Show More

Fills a need
I've been looking for a small camera that I can always have with me without the weight and size of my Pen F + 12-100 lens. Either they were small enough without the zoom range I desired or they had the zoom but were too large. So the ZS100 looked good on paper. Pluses are the 1 sensor works well, I can print to 12 x 18 with no problems up to ISO 800 without touching the noise reduction in Lightroom when shooting raw. It's also a very customizable...
