Quite Amazing
I am extremely happy with this little camera. It shoots remarkable 4k footage, useful as a primary YouTube camera or a secondary interview camera. I've shot weddings, dance recitals, and more on a Panasonic HMC150 for years; I'm very happy with sticking with Panasonic.

Quality not Quantity- The Deflated DSLR (it's mirrorless)
This is THE camera for semi-pro videography, travel, and street photograpghy enthusiasts. Silent mode, matte black finish, excellent build quality and endless fast and light lens options are all packaged into a deflated DSLR. Videographers will love this camera for A+ video quality (4K) and Photograpghers will love this camera A- image quality. (The only way to get A+ image quality is to drop thousand(s) of dollards and have really good eyes! Als... Show More

Great beginner camera
I am a beginner camera and have enjoyed using it the first couple of weeks. Will use it extensively over the upcoming week. The app is pretty neat and accomplishes what it needs to do but could use some refinement. Only complaint I have is that the Advanced Manual is on CD to learn more about the camera features. My Macbook does not come with a CD and Panasonic website needs to update their links as it is not available online either.

Good camera!
Good camera..can put all my Nikon and Leica glass on it.. I'm going to buy another one for video multicam-ing.. But..an AC adapter doesn't come with it..and why is this..? And..can you find an adapter anywhere on the planet for this camera....nope...you cant..they dont exist..and why is that Panasonic? This cam needs to be able to be plugged in..somewhere..like every other cam ever made..it is battery only..and when the vid function is going..they drain fast...real fast..over a long shoot..

Love this camera
I'm a VFX artist and my old camera just wasn't cutting it it had terrible chromatic abortion (fixed lens) and strange artifacting. This camera has blown my mind with its 4k goodness.

Excellent camera for video and price
I am a pro cinematographer. I also own the big brother version the GH4. This is a full featured camera of almost the same functionality of the GH4 which I used for certain commercial shoot and independent films. It is compact and very capable. If Panasonic only updates the firmware so that the HDMI, which already can output clean 8-bit 4.2.0, can be used with a monitor or recorder like the Atomos or BlackMagic Video Assist, this will definitely b... 4K on the low; some drawbacks
I purchased this camera as a secondary camera for video, as well as to build my lens array for a future GH4 (or GH5) purchase. The best way to make use of this camera's video mode is to shoot in 4K, even if delivering at 1080. Reason being the 100mbps bitrate and the extra resolution are a significant improvement over the 1080 shooting mode which I believe tops at 24 or 28mbps. Quality lighting will make this difference less dramatic, but the ext... Show More

Wonderfull
I bought it to replace my Canon 600d mainly for stills and to be the B-cam for my still not buyed a7s that i'll get around february, and i'm quite impressed. Didn't expect the camera to be so good at all. It fells great in the hand and its very compact and light weight. I have no worries on walking around with my cmera anymore, it doesn't even take that much of attention i used to get while with my old camera. Image quality fells just as same in ... Show More

Almost perfect
The portability, versatility and image quality of the G7 with the 14-140mm lens is amazing. I really enjoy having a camera of this quality that is so easy to take along. Just a couple of minor issues. One is the lens which is constantly making a low level noise. I thought there was something wrong until I read in the troubleshoot section that the noise is normal. (After a while you do get used to it.) I was a little disappointed to find out that ... Show More

Dont be fooled by the price, this is an excellent 4k camera
Don't be fooled by the price, the G7 while set at a much lower price point than its bigger brother the GH4, delivers excellent quality video. Footage straight out of this camera readily matches that of the GH4. It may not have all of the bells and whistles of the GH4 but it has over 90% of the features. The main thing that I am impressed by is the fact that the low light performance is much better than that of the GH4. You can get almost 2 stops ... Show More

An affordable and full featured camera for Indie filmmakers
This is an awesome camera for the price. It is small, lightweight, 4K, and has a lot of functionality accessible through buttons and dials. Touch screen and viewfinders have high quality display output. It's really as good as its big brother the GH4 when it comes to bundled features and functionality. Casing is mostly made of plastic and not weatherproof. The only big disappointment is that Panasonic turns off the Recording functionality when an ... Show More

Not ideal for Indie Filmmakers and video enthusiast
This would be a very great replacement to the Canon Ti series for independent film makers for its 4K feature and price. However, Panasonic had made the camera's HDMI so that it cannot be used for monitoring and recording. That makes this camera ineffective for recording using other codecs (like ProRes and DNxHD). If only they provide clean HDMI out even at HD 10-bit 4.2.2, this could have been an awesome cameras for indie filmmakers who are using... Show More

Very dissapointing
When I decided I wanted a small camera for occasional use, Micro 4/3 seemed like the best bet, and the Lumix DMC-G7 seemed like a great camera. With many great features, and solid basics like the high res EVF and fully articulating rear screen, built in flash, etc. I was terribly disappointed after shooting a few dozen photos, in RAW, and processing them in Lr like I've been doing for six years now. Lackluster would describe it. Too much money an... Show More

Best still shot and video camera combined
I was going on a trip to Ecuador. I did not want to lug my Canon Rebel T1 DSLR. My Sony HD camcorder was getting dated. I found that the G7 combines the best elements of video and photography in one camera. Thus, think of the one-time price as a long-term solution to having to carry both a video camera and a heavy DSLR. I think the entire camera and my extra 45-150 Lumix mirrorless zoom with a tripod and a mount weigh no more than 5 lbs. It is ve... Show More

This camera shoots in very low light with great clarity. The auto HDR mode works well and saves time and memory. It is very light weight and easy to use. This camera has all of the features I loved on my Lumix G3, some have been improved, plus features I used to wish it had. 4k video, 4k photo (great feature to play with, just wish they were full mp, not just 8), faster shutter, and one of my favorite updates.. Replacement Camera
Looking to replace my aging Nikon D300 with a full framer or a mirror-less camera, I did tons of research. As an advanced amateur, going full frame would prove costly when considering pro cameras and lenses. New technology prompted a thorough research of all mirror-less cameras and lenses currently offered. There is much to be said about new mirror-less advances, new features, comfort and ease of use. Equally, much can be said defending full fram... Show More

A fine little 4K camera with some limitations
While the G7 has a nice, sharp image with some exposure control, you cannot monitor sound, and you cannot turn off menu displays in the HDMI signal. We are using this camera in studio at a lifestyle website, so it's great for some extra coverage for web stuff, but I wouldn't use this on location.

Best purchase in years!!
I have been a DLSR Nikon user for 8 years. Over time, I have felt the weight in that camera and lenses that it had become harder and harder to carry around. It also began to hurt my back and shoulder. This Lumix G7 is perfect for me. So light weight, including the lens, that I can carry it with me in my purse. Outcome of the photos is outstanding!!
