Finally an FZ50 replacement
I was looking for something with a little more control than my FZ200 - primarily looking for a manual focus to take pictures of things like spider webs that always fool the auto-focus. I've had the FZ50 for years and it was nice but I wanted a step-up in quality. The FZ1000 has a lot of great features - but the most important thing is that its photos are superb quality while being easy to use and a lot less cumbersome than a true DSLR or even a micro four thirds. Still learning how to tweak things but the results after a week are astounding.

Great Camera
This is a wonderful camera. I am a semi-professional photographer. I use a lot of equipment that is heavy and takes time for setup. This Lumix allows me to take excellent pictures quickly. It produces captures is both JPEG and RAW formats which is very very good. The zoom is powerful, wide angle is good and overall it takes wonderful pictures. Anyone can use this camera because it has many automatic features for point and shoot. But, this is also for the camera buff who prefers to set up the settings manually. This Lumix really does it all.

Bridge Camer or Not?
I chose this camera after reading all the reviews I could find. I wanted something lighter than my D4 to travel through Italy. The camera has performed well in the 300 pictures I have taken prior to trip. It has a great response and focus time. The electric viewfinder is perfect for a person who refuses to use a monitor to take pictures. The noise is excellent up to 1600 ISO. The camera is intuitive and simple to operate, if you are use to shooting in Aperture, Manual, or Shutter modes. The camera is bulky and build quality could be better.

Upgraded version of a great camera
I had purchased an FZ1000 a couple of years ago and loved it. Due to issues not the fault of the camera I needed a replacement. I saw that B&H had a sale on the FZ1000 and since I had loved the camera so much, I bought it without looking at the specs. To my delight, Panasonic had upgraded the camera with new features, such asExtra Optical Zoom (EZ): 32x, electronic shutter to 1/16,000 second, HDR from 3 exposures to 7, WiFi connection, etc. all for half what I paid for the original. All that and a Leica lens makes me a very happy camper.

like the camera/but it broke twice
the camera produced surprisingly good photos with jpegs and raw. i am slightly disabled so i use this camera most of the time. BUT the eyepiece mechanism keeps breaking. it has been repaired by SQUARE TRADE who is now replacing the camera (they are wonderful) i hope the new one won't break. i don't know if i can trust it for overseas travel, i will always worry about breakage.the panasonic people were not helpful when i chatted with them,(i won't be buying any more stuff from them) 5 stars for an all in one,no stars for reliability.

Great way back into photography
It's been more than 25 years since I toted around my two Pentax MX bodies and lots of lenses. It took signing up for a safari to jog me back out of easy snap shot world. Thanks to a relatively comprehensible Instruction Manual, and a few days off to play, I am glad your sales team convinced me that the 1 sensor and speedy electronics would bring me back to crisp images, capturing the shot without slow camera thinking delay, and ample zoom would send me on my way without the neccessity of schlepping a big cumbersome bag of toys.

Made the switch from DSLR to greatness
After 10 years of switching lens and carring camera bags and never having the correct lens at the correct time , missing the photo opt. I sold just one lens and bought the LUMIX FZ 1000. I could not be happier. I used it for a Graduation and party, I got soooo many compliments. Others were struggling with their DSLR and I was getting 4K video and taking awesome pictures. My wife has always hated the DSLR but loves the LUMIX. I could go on and on but what you really need to know is make the switch , you will not be disappointed.

Image quality comparable to Canon 70D
I compared image quality between Canon 70D and the FZ1000 at ISO 100-400 and found no different in pixel quality on dpreview.com. Focus is very fast. Nice to walk past people with L series lens that cost many times the cost of this camera fitted on 70D's and their image quality won't be any different than mine. I should note that L series lens will have better sharpness in the corners. But lens sharpness in the center is as good as an L series lens. I attached a few photos of the Blue Angels flying past at 600+ miles per hour.

It's everything I hoped it would be
I wanted a camera with lots of options, easy to use, and most importantly excellent image quality. That's what I got. This is the most nearly perfect camera I have ever had. I didn't expect the intelligent digital zoom to provide decent quality images. In that respect the camera exceeds my expectations because it gives me images that look as if they were shot with an 800 mm lens and image quality is excellent. I shoot RAW mostly but I like to see how good the JPEG's are and I get excellent images no matter what I'm shooting.

Superior Bridge Camera
The FZ1000 is a very good camera. I have used the FZ150 and the FZ200 and they were both excellent. The FZ1000 has so many updated features that make it just a fun camera to use. I use it when traveling in the mountains and it performs very well on macros as well as landscape and those distant wildlife and nature pictures. It has great image quality and competes with the digital SLRS with image quality and ease of use. Good job Panasonic and please keep it up and also thanks to B & H for just excellent service!!!

Really great camera which suits the travel category to a T
This camera is just excellent on many levels starting with the form factor which is, as Goldilocks would say, not too big and not too small. The camera has a great feel in the hands. Primarily though it takes great pictures and the lens range is ideal when traveling and you don't want to mess around with a bunch of different glass to cover every eventuality. I'm looking forward to trying the 4K video because this rig gets great reviews as a boon to videographers but that will need to wait until another day!

Great Camera
While maybe not quite the image quality of a premium SLR/lens package, this camera is one of the better all-in-one cameras going. Unless you are making very large prints you will be hard pressed to see any degradation of image quality. Menus are very intuitive and easy to navigate and compared to the Sony RX10MkIII I had, much easier to use. The only advantage the Sony had was a longer focal length (it also cost nearly 3 times as much too). All in all, a pretty versatile, good camera at a reasonable price.

My #1 camera
I mainly use this machine for concert and video clip video shooting. I still use my old hacked GH2s with some very nice lens, as well as 5 and 6Ds. The thing is, all I use now is the FZ1000. Not that it is better then any of the others, but it is all I need in a single very comfortable body. The image is fantastic, slow motion is fantastic, image stabilization is fantastic, lens range and quality is faaaaaantastic. If you are used to pro Lumix controls, you will have no difficulties using this baby.

Perfect Bridge Camera
Excellent bridge camera with a big sensor. Takes great photos and video. Zoom is very good and Panasonic intelligent zoom doubles it with great quality. Battery life is very good. I got 427 jpeg photos and 5 minutes of video on a singe battery charge. The photos at default camera settings are OK, but i prefer to use PROGRAM mode with +1 Saturation, +2 Contrast and + 2 Sharpness. Jpegs look great. Camera is big not not bulky. Feels good in the hand. 4K video is great, i wish i had a 4K television.

Very nice for price point
Peaking, good zoom ring on lens, ability to monitor and adjust audio, fast accurate AF, and nice quality stills pulled from 4K video in cam are some of the pluses. No ND filters (and this cam needs them outdoors, no smooth transitions on iris, lack of manual controls in 120fps mode, front heavy and not as well balanced as FZ200, requires fast expensive cards for 4K are a few of the downsides I've found so far. Very good stills and image quality of video very good. Very nice cam at this price.

SIMPLY BUY IT.....
I've bought tested and returned over 20 cameras in the last year and this is a keeper....best all rounder without needing to buy lenses. ..yes there's other cameras that are smaller bigger and better but not one has a complete pakage...It's video is not great in low light though. PIC quality is great for not being a dslr and you won't find a better video camera in this price rsnge...*...This was the camera that I wanted 3 yrs ago..A great lense with a better than point and shoot sensor...

Great travel camera
Have loved using the using the FZ200 for past 2 years and just upgraded to the FZ1000. Very impressed with the results in the limited shooting done so far. Superb resolution in close ups, not quite wide enough for landscapesI will be shooting at a family wedding in December and will have more feedback at the later date.Lens string should be standard accessory (as it is with FZ200). Panasonic wants $7 for lens cap+string, string not sold separately. For a $$camera it seems mean spirited

Just what we were looking for!
We use this cam at a local access TV station for both shooting stills and for DSLR-type videos (mainly B-roll and scenery). Newbies find it easy to get started by shooting in Auto mode. More advanced users like its portability and amazing picture quality. Get an external shotgun mic as the built in audio it's a bit tinny sounding (not bad though for a built in) There are a lot of features, options and different modes to sort through that we haven't even looked at yet. Should be fun!

Capable photographic tool
I bought this camera to compliment an older Nikon DSL and a Canon higher end P&S with a limited zoom range. Pretty happy with it in general, although my keeper percentage at the long end is pretty low. Sure some of it is my getting used to it. Do like the very usable manual focus, high speed shooting ability, and the videos are quite nice, although that is not what I got it for mainly. First day I got it, I probably got the best photos I have ever taken of a hummingbird.

Happy - as expected
I read reviews extensively for this product before ordering. It was a difficult decision because in my country, Canon's 3gx was already available and at a cheaper price than in the USA. In the end, I went with the FZ1000 because of the EVF and the positive reviews I had read about it. I am not disappointed. I wish the body were stronger and weatherproof and I wish the battery life were longer. But that's it. For the price point, everything else is fine and as expected.

Excellent upgrade to my superzoom
I use this camera primarily for long nature hikes, and I use the 16x zoom frequently. As the best available bridge camera available, in my opinion, it is an ideal compromise between the light weight of a superzoom having a limited image quality and the outstanding image quality of a DSLR having a much higher weight (including spare lenses). I intend to supplement this camera with a good point and shoot camera that is better waterproofed for dealing with heavy rains.

Exceeds my expectations.
My wife and I are planning a trip to Antartica. Our primary cameras will be Olympus E-M1 bodies with 12-40 lenses. We own several m4/3 lenses but want to avoid changing lenses as much as possible. After weeks of internet research I bought this camera. It shares an excellent EVF and many other features with thw Panasonic GH4. Focus speed and accuracy, OIS, and image quality throughout its range are equal to our m4/3 rigs. It will definetly go to Antartica.

Seems to be very good
After my extensive research, I bought this camera for African Safari tour. I have not used the product a lot yet but so far I have a very good feeling about this camera. Very quick focusing, clear viewfinder. The camera is made in Japan, so I expect this as a very high quality product. B&H is also my best choice vender, always very reliable, honest, and excellent customer service and quick shipping(always receive products on the next day). Thank you B&H.
