Insame but..
don4t be wrong this camera is insame, good perf, nice image, great dynamic range,.. but for me he have 3 problems -the Autofocus is not good excepte with the panasonic 24-70 -The panasonic serie lenses are crasy expensive -And this S1 from B&H is in NTSC mode only! (it's not the case on the other country) It's a massive problem, no PAL mode so no 25 or 50 frame/second so impossible to shoot in Europe for exemple, don4t buy it here!

Great Camera
I have started my career with Panasonic P2 ENGs. Though I have gone through many different cameras during my career, I have special love for Panasonic cameras. I have G85, for my personal use, and then I purchased S1 a few months ago. Fantastic. It is bulky, but has great grip. The bundle 24-105mm lens have decent quality. The camera and lens handle low-light situation much better than G85. A lot of people love 4k60, so do I. Photo qu... Show More

Failed just before a wedding Ceremony
I wanted to love this camera so bad. However, with an XQD card AND a 200mb/s card in the camera, it froze on me just before a wedding ceremony. After being unable to even turn off the camera to restart it, I had to remove the battery, re-insert, only to find that it would freeze on me again on the next photo. Luckily, I still had my 5DS R as a backup and was able to capture the rest of the processional, Ceremony, and the rest of the day. T... Show More

Froze, jammed, went dark
Five minutes before a wedding ceremony, this thing froze writing to the brand new XQD memory card. After repeatedly turning on and off the power (which wasn't immediately effective either), the EVF and LCD would go completely dark, as if a lens cap were on it. I wanted so bad to like this camera, but unless I understand what caused the crash at such an inopportune time, I will have to return it.

Great camera--with two serious flaws for video shooters
This is a WONDERFUL camera---every good thing you'll read in other reviews here are things you can take to the bank. I'm not going to bore you by repeating what has been said. instead I want to point out these two problems in case one or both of them are deal breakers for you. First, for video AF is really poor. No change there. It is hardly better than on previous cameras. The method of AF just does not work for video. The second issue is also ... Show More

Spectacular Camera With One Severe Flaw
Overall, I LOVE the Lumix S1. I use it mostly for it's 10bit 4k video ability. The 4k resolution and detail is spectacular. It's 10bit color in HLG and VLog is great and it's VLog dynamic range is THE most I have EVER seen in any camera before. It's 150Mbp/s 4k long GOP CODEC is surprisingly tough. It encodes VERY well down into the shadows and allows you to aggressively stretch colors upward without seeing the noise floor and compression artifac... Show More

Amazing Camera
I've been using it for about 4 months, all I can say is wow what a quality of video, so clear so nice, very natural colors on skin. It's amazing what panasonic done with this hybrid machine. NO REGRETS!!! Just make sure you use only super fast sd/sqd cards to give support to this wonderful camera.

Best hybrid camera on the market
I did a lot of research and finally landed on this model. I shoot stills and video for my wifes company and I am constantly going back and forth from video to stills. Handheld to tripod. This cameras substantial weight and build has been a true pleasure to work with. I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Incredible what they've done
A brief history of my past gear choices. I shot with Canon for a decade, bought into Phase One digital medium format, sold that entire system and bought into Nikon. Shot with a D810 for years (loved that camera with every fiber of my soul) then shot with both the D850 and Canon's 5D Mark IV for almost 2 years as well as dabbling with Sony's A7r II. World class glass on every system I've ever owned. Got into more hybrid stills/motion work in the l... Show More

Definitely NOT for professionals who need Flash
The S1R wasn't designed to shoot continuous bursts with Flash. It is incapable of anything but one single shot at a time with Flash. I confirmed this by spending the last week researching this sad fact... Pity that I'm going to be forced to return it,as I love the body, it's superior in many ways to my Sony A7R3 and Nikon Z6 ,and most surprising of all ,it's AF is Superior in many ways to both.... I shoot a good amount of fashion, and this is a deal breaker -I've never done a shoot without strobes

Longtime Lumix shooter, it's another great one
Panasonic's entry into the full frame market intrigued me at first, didn't know how it would stack up against a long line of more established competitors. Then I saw some positive reviews and some nice footage and decided to add it to my GH5/GH5S combo forming quite the trifecta. It's been nothing but a pleasure to use so far and will be further improved with firmware and the unlock key to add higher bit rates. Yes the autofocus is lagging behind... Show More

The Best Value Camera for 2019
It seemed like Panasonic was releasing this as a photo camera with little emphasis on video features. Then the S1H was announced. I couldn't make sense why the S1H warrants a $1500 price increase ($2500 body vs. $4000 body.) Although if your workflow warrants 6K and/or anamorphic mode, maybe the S1H is for you? Then I looked at the S1's features again and I realized with V-Log, IBIS, the slow motion features, and the 4k/60p in 10-bit color (with ... Show More

WOW
First off - dont believe the L Mount junk everyone is saying. There is a large offering of lenses releasing soon and the F4 24-105 is so incredible it could come glued to the camera and I doubt Id care! Additionally, I have the sigma EF adapter and use a Canon 50mm 1.4 and a Canon 70-200 2.8 and they look insanely good as well on this camera. Second - I came from GH5 AND Sony A9 AND Sony A7iii... this camera replaced ALL THREE off those cameras ... Show More

Lens adapters
This is the right camera for me, but I have a major issue - and maybe most of you will laugh at me. Lens adapters for L mount! I have a lot of great manual lenses in classic Nikon F mount, both Nikkors and Zeiss, and I have been happy shooting them on GH4 with Cosina aka Voigtlaender adapters. I absolutely hate and refuse G mount adapters - they are more than pointless for me. It pains me to use cheap aluminum milled adapters. If Cosina or any other high-grade company would make a premium simple mechanical F to L adapter I would be 100% onboard. Please!!!

Game Changer!
I bought this camera for videography work - mostly weddings - before buying the S1 I shot with an assortment of mirrorless cameras (Lumix Gh4 and G85) and traditional video cameras. I knew I needed to buy a camera this year, but was on the fence between the S1 and the GH5s. After learning of Panasonic's promotion of $400 credit for trading in an old camera, the decision became a no-brainer, and I've used it for one wedding so far, and another co... Show More

Best Pro Mirrorless
This camera is incredible. the image quality coming out of the S1 is leaps and bounds ahead of Sony's A7 line and Canon's EOS R camera. It is incredibly detailed, sharp without looking digital, and unbelievable in low light. With the forthcoming 10-bit, V-Log update, this thing is going to be the best mirrorless camera in video for a long time, I think. It will only be knocked off the top by the Panasonic S1H in a few months.
