I bought the Behringer B-1 in 2005 and it has a great sound. I'm impressed by the accessories that come with this Mic (Pop Filter, Shock Mount, and case) and the switches available on the Mic itself. It is important with all large Condensers that they be set up right in terms of input volume (VU Meter or LEDs) because they can distort easily on close up Vocals. I have used the B-1 on Electric guitar cabinets with great success, it is a fantastic Condenser Mic with good Quality Control more sensitive than my MXL. This Mic has a presence boost in the top frequencies which tends to enhance Vocals and other high frequency instruments. I am planning to buy several more of these for future recording. Probably the best professional Condenser Mic for the Price on the market. Well built, including the Accessories. ... More

My friends and I have been using the Behringer B-1 Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Mic for about 3 years now. We use it for recording rappers and singers, it does a nice job.It is clear, noiseless and can be used in a variety of ways. This mic is well worth the hundred bucks their asking. Once you add the factors of a shock mount adapter and solid carrying case its hard to see where Behringer makes any money. We will get the B-2 next, I hope its as good as the B-1.

I have no complaints about this mic. I use it for podcasting together with a Behringer Xenyx mixer and they're just the perfect pair for a small-time podcast. I can't get too technical about it, but I can tell you that I get that big, booming kind of radio voice when I use this mic. I haven't had any problems with the mic at all, but you have to keep your expectations low when you're not buying top-grade equipment.

I have paid more for top-name mics that don't sound as good as the B-1. I love the electronics and design of this versatile marvel. It sounds great on vocals, but its bandwidth really shines on recording acoustic instruments. There are two very minor drawbacks. One is the mic is heavy, so be prepared to use a sandbag or weighted base when using the B-1 on a mic stand. Second, the cardioid pattern means vocalists don't have to 'eat' the mic, so they can back away. Placement is critical!

I have buyed some products from behringer and NO ONE at this moment has failed. And the most important think of this company(Behringer): There is no exist one brand in all market, with better rate cost/benefit than Behringer. The Top line products of Behringer(I mean, the better models Behringer) compete with brands that cost from 2 to 10 times more, and medium models are very reliable for the people with low or very low budget. I want to finish with one last and very trite sentence applied to Behringer: "Don?t get fool with the Low Price, and you thinks, not all cheap is really cause to bad quality". The supposed purpose of Behringer?s creator(It says: double of advantages at half price) seems to be genuine the truth. ... More

Tried this mic for my female vocals but yuck! Think it does better on male vocals, acoustic guitar, and guitar amps. I bought it due to a recommendation and it's a great starting/amateur mic. However, if you have the money up front- go for something like the Rode NT1 which does amazing on vocals!

I would have given the Behringer B-1 5 stars, but the basket adjustment knob does not hold it tight at the angle you want. For my voice, though, it was an excellent match and unless I go into real high dollar range, I think any differences are going to be miniscule and not worth the extra bucks.

I had bought this recently, but ended up having to return it because it would not work for my mixer. This is meant for a regular mic cable connection (no 1/4'' mixer inputs will work). I was so very excited to try it out, but unfortunately it did not work out for me. I think it is a great steal though for it's price. It does not come with all the accessories to plug in to play, that is the only downside.
