Used for on-street interviews in New York City
From a non-audio person's perspective, this is a great budget microphone for use in noisy environments, such as on the streets of New York City. I was impressed at how much better this microphone was at handling external noise than our lav microphones. It did not filter out as much noise as what a boom op with the right shotgun mic could do, but it sure was convenient and easy to set up.

Exactly what I needed
I had been using a Shure SM58, but with a mic flag, the handle was not long enough. The handle on this is perfect for ENG-type interviews, with a mic flag (and a Sennheiser wireless module attached). I looked at Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Electrovoice ENG mics - and a few others. I've always had good experience with Audio Technica gear - this keeps that steak going.

Good starting point
Good mic for the price. I used this and the Sennheiser MD-42. I can definitely hear the difference in quality between the AT and the Sennheiser (with the Sennheiser being substantially better). At more than half the price though, this mic will produce great audio for interviews and ENG style shooting on a budget.

Great product, great price
After own it for about 1 year now.I still feel this is the one of the best purchase.It just add so much value to your video production.I can use XLR to 3.5mm cable feed the sounds directly to DSLR. Since the mouth of the person talking is very close to the mic. That means noise to signal is pretty good. We can still get very high quality sounds directly from DSLR. Very useful mic for DSLR Eng type video.it only cost $ bucks. what you get is huge.

Ad advertised
This is just what I was looking for in my start-up ENG endeavour. It's durable, looks good, sounds great and the price was right too. Have been using it for a couple week and have yet to find any problems. I'm not expecting fantastic sound but from what I've heard voices are clear, background noise is limited and reproduction is what I expected. I'd get one again in an instant.

A Cost-Effective alternative to EV 635A
Great Mic. Purchased a bunch of these to loan to students doing news video interviews. Build quality seems to match the much beloved Electro-Voice 635A. Sound quality seems to be about the same as the EV mic. Would highly recommend for ENG use, the long handle allows you to put a flag on the mic, and have enough room to hold it, and to reach out to the person you are interviewing.

Hand noise
Just testing it out, I found it extremely sensitive to hand motion. Move a finger just slightly and you'll hear it, possibly ruining your recording. Going to send it back and try something else.

Good mic!
I have purchased this Mic and used it on the location shoot recently. It is a very good mic for how much it is. Sound quality is fantastic. It is slim yet solid. I recommend this Mic to other field cameramen and soundies.

Handheld Mic

Great Mic, Great Price
