Sony PlayStation 4 Platinum Wireless Headset (Black & Silver)

Quality sound but beware discomfort
I've used these headphones extensively since buying them, mostly for PS4 gaming and Party Chat but also on my PC thanks to the compatible dongle. The sound and mic quality is excellent and the Virtual Surround Sound functions very well on PS4 but be aware that this feature doesn't seem to work on PC. Wireless connectivity has been excellent and a full charge lasts around 3-4 hours. The main drawback to this headset is that I find it uncomfortable to wear for longer than an hour or two.

I wish it was prettier :(
This is my first ever gaming headset as before this I was using the headset included with my playstation. In comparison this headset is by far my favourite, since it's over the head not in ear I no longer have the issue of it falling out mid game. The only thing i would say is I have to wear it looser when I'm wearing earrings otherwise it digs in. In terms of sound quality in every game ive played wearing them so far its been incredibly immersive. I only wish it came in a cuter colour.

Solid headphones with great sound clarity.
Really impressed with the quality of these headphones and the sound is immaculate at the side of other, more expensive pairs on the market. The only thing worth mentioning is the connectivity is sometimes a little temperamental and have to unplug the USB stick and reconnect. Would recommend to anyone with a ps4 over any other pair of headphones as the downloadable app specific to Sony headphones is also incredible as it allows you to change the EQ settings easily and exceptionally well.

Great bit of kit
I bought these as a means of being able to get the most out of my games due to not being able to blast out my games. They have a lovely sound to them and do a great job of immersing me into a game, they can get a bit much after a long gaming session of 4 odd hours so I need to take them off for a rest at intervals. The battery seems to last quite a while but I have experienced the odd glitchy feedback in them when going to game areas with a lot of sound going on ie Saint Denis in RDR2

Great headset - worth the money
I was a bit dubious about spending that much money on a PS4 headset, but it is brilliant. It does not disappoint on comfort or on design. You even get a protective bag and the product box doubles as a storage protection box - nice bonus. The connectivity is fantastic i'm still connected A floor in my house to the console. The sound quality is good (not fantastic) it's a lot better with games that have the specific sound apps made for the headset. The sound is crisp and full though.

Don’t buy
I read a lot of review about this headset all seemed good so when and brought them. Sound was good but the mic was really really bad. Friends said I sounded like a tumble dryer. They could just about make out what I was saying. took them back and got the turtle beaches stealth 600. Wow what a difference wish I brought them the first time round. Go nice and loud the virtual surround sound Is a lot better then these ones I activated it on these Sony ones but wasn’t no change in sound.

Sony Gold
My family are all heavy pc gamers, The Sony Gold headset is meant for PS4 but like almost all USB based headsets is plug n play for pc even though descriptions don’t always specify. The headset is a little hard to the feel and the ear cups are not the biggest but the sound is excellent. Internal mics mean no issues with boom mics going wrong and the almost unique headband adjustment is also more robust and better than other designs. A comfortable superb headset for high use gamers.

Three different headsets - all faulty
I had three of these headsets through exchanges from Argos before I gave up and got a refund. The headset looks great, is comfortable and should be a great product - but it simply isn't. The quality of the mic is poor even when functioning properly, but two of my headsets actually had faulty mics where my friends said I sounded like I was in a submarine, underwater or muffled. Two of the headsets also had a sound issue where I constantly heard a popping interference type sound.

Great price, good sound, no connectivity problems
Got for son for Christmas, not knowing much about gaming headphones. He’s had several cheaper versions in the past, but all lost bits or snapped. Was big decision to buy slightly more expensive pair with breakages in mind. So far, only two days, there have been no problems and there are no snapable bits. Sound quality is good Item keeps its charge No obvious connection problems which, over Christmas when everyone connecting, is good. Fit well and comfortable Look more sturdy

The best ever... For real!
It's really the best in everything with its simple and elegant design, great and fast connectivity, fantastic sound and microphone quailty and modes, reliable and innovative buttons, placement and use of it. Not only for PS4, but also when tried with other devices. It's also the best fit and comfort especially with PSVR. Considering the price tag with its compititors, there is no competition from the first place. Totally recommended and I wouldn't recommend other than it.

Good sound quality for wireless
If you want virtual surround sound for a headset on the PS4, Sony are the best option. Mainly due to Sony not allowing other companies to access the same audio data. The HyperX Cloud II has surround as well but it is using their own DAC using basic stereo audio and virtualising it to make it seem like surround. These are pretty good, sound quality and volume are decent, build quality seems ok so far despite them being a mainly plastic build. Microphone is ok, nothing special.

Sony quality at a great price
Connected the usb receiver to my PS4 (can be plugged into a usb extender) powered the headset up, connection was established instantly. Intalled the Headsrt Companion app on the PSN for extra sound settings. Sound is high quality, makes you feel immersed in the games or even in films. Comfortable and easy to adjust. Added bonus, they fit perfectly over the PSVR heaset to increase the sense of being in the game. Resident Evil Biohazard is a must in VR with these earphones.

Poor battery so useless as a wireless headset.
They both look great and the sound quality is great too, but as with my 20th anniversary controller the battery life is disappointing. I charged them the first time and the battery lasted just 1 hour which is no where near the 8 hours claimed on the box, so I fully recharged the again they were turned off and the next day when I cam to use them they were again completely flat. They can be used while you charge them but that makes the completely useless as a wireless product.

Virtually Gold
The New Sony Gold headset is a step up from the previous version. Sony has ditched the foldable head strap and updated the look with an all dark tone. The comfort and quality is still there & on PS4 you can customise the sound with a preset or your own EQ options using an app. The battery life is good for a 6 hour gaming session if fully charged. Its wireless range is good at around 7 meters max, but won’t go as far as some bluetooth devices. Worth the money in my opinion.

Games, music, movies. These headphones do it all
Before I get to a more detailed review I'll say they do fit well over the PSVR headset. I know that seems to be one of the main questions that are asked when researching headphones for PS4. The metal band of the headphones that reassure you that they're built to last, the soft cushion of the ear pieces is comfortable and allows for many hours of gaming. Only drawback is the need for a USB dongle for wireless use. But sound quality is great, 3D sound is cool too.

Great headset
Bought this headset p just after Christmas. Sound quality is great it's a big upgrade from the cheap headset I had before. It's wireless 2.4ghz not Bluetooth though. If you have a portable HDD on your PS4 you need to connect the dongle via a usb hub otherwise it won't work at all. I had a lot of connection issues and this simple solution fixed it but I had to search forums etc to find this fix. I nearly gave in and returned it . Other that I'm delighted with the headset.

Great Quality
Bought these for my partner and he is very pleased with them. Took no effort to connect to the PS4 and he was using them in no time. They seem to give a lot of use before needing a charge and he says the sound quality is better than the previous version and he can "hear the enemy approaching from behind"!! I know that they are noise cancelling because I can't hear what's going on in the game but he is shouting so loudly now when playing because he can't hear himself!!...

Good design and easy to setup.
The design is good, not having a mic extension in your face is quite convenient, but some of my friends commented my voice quality wasn't quite as good, however it seems to be perfectly adequate for voice chat. The volume buttons are a little confusing, as one side is for the voice / ps chat and the other side is for the game noise. Don't get confused as you'll end up muting your voice chat trying to enable it. Good sound quality and the rechargeable feature is great.

Best in its price range
It is hard to find another headset that is both USB wireless and wired, allowing it to be used for a huge array of systems for the price range of this one. The sound quality is great, the battery life is long enough (though there are longer running ones out there) and has superior functionality on the PS4 system. The only negative is the awful inset microphone. If you intend on chatting a lot with it you may need an external mic or to choose a different headset.

Jaw dropping
I was debating whether the asking price was worth it. One listen to a 3D Audio enabled game conformed I’d made the right decision. Ive a 7.1 surround sound setup in my cinema room but I hated the way headphones sounded through the system for late night gaming. These give me a near perfect recreation of a true 3D soundscape just by easily connecting straight to my PS4 PRO. I can now game until the early hours hours without compromising on sound quality. Perfect.

Decent once the headband has been dealt with
Features are mostly great.. good wireless, decent mic, easy controls. Dongle is slightly annoying. However, out of the box, they're spectacularly uncomfortable for the price. Ear pads are serviceable but the headband is awful. It bears the full weight of the headset and will give you headache after 20 minutes. BUT, repurposing a strap cover from another pair of headphones makes them far more comfortable and usable - plenty of options can be found online.

Great headphones
Great headphones, marked it slightly down on comfort due to me wearing glasses and afrer long use can be uncomfortable. Has feature where you can choose how much you want to hear of the chat party or actual game.. from a click of a button. If you run out of battery, you can simply attach the supplied auxiliary cable and continue in a clutch situation. You can also switch between surround and normal sound from a click of a button. So yeah money well spent.

Excellent for the money
This headset is excellent for the money and only this or the PS Platinum can do Virtual Surround Sound on PS4 Slim (it doesn't have an optical port which third party brands require) Comfort and general build quality are great Headset completely integrates into the PS4 system meaning you can see the battery life etc You get what you pay for, not going to blow you away but quite adequate for the average gamer and very good for the money.
