Great quality, good bang for your buck
Great bokeh, awesome value. The one negative this about lens is that if you film with your autofocus on, the autofocus will be heard in your videos. Other than that it's excellent for shooting photos or doing manual video shots

price-quality - best decision!!!!
I bought it couple weeks ago! And now I'm happy! very shape images, nice colors and very good back if you use 1.8. Some times in a dark focus a little bit slow but for this money it is OK! I recommend the lens for everybody!!!!

great lens for the money!
Considering that this was the cheaper of the two alpha-series 50mm lenses I was debating between - I've been quite happy with it! It tends to work best set to manual focus (on both body/lens) instead of trusting the auto focus.

As good as the old 1.7 Minolta
This lens equals the old Minolta 1.7 in terms of sharpness and contrast and with the addtion of SAM it can now be used on both the A mount Sony as well as the E mount with adapters and retain AF. Surpsingly good for the money!

Delivers on promise
It's a great prime lens that essentially does exactly what you need it to do. If you're going from a basic kit lens to a prime it will take a little getting used to and you'll have to move around a lot more but it's worth it.

Grea Lens for the price
I am on a on a shoestring budget and needed a fast lens, this was the perfect option. I would recommend this to any Alpha DSLT Videographer or photographer/ hobbyist. Photos and video are crisp and the bokeh is spectacular.

My number one lens!
I love this lens. Ii's a perfect match for my A390. Very sharp and it forces you to get creative(because you can't zoom in and out). Thumbs up for the best online site on the planet earth ! B&H ....you guys are the best!

Performs like a $$lens!
Perfect for portrait photography and closer shots (not macro) This lens is great at blurring out backgrounds. See attached photo example. I use this lens with my Sony a77 Would HIGHLY recommend. Best value hands down.

I am very satisfied with the product!!!
-very good image quality at the center and the edge of the frame, -insignificant chromatic aberration, -small distortion, -fairly well corrected coma, -very good work against bright light, -quite fast autofocus.

Decent Lens
Does what it's supposed to. No zoom. Auto focus is ok but SONY camera seems to get confused sometimes. I'm not sure if the lens has anything to do with it, it's the only one that I've used with my Sony A55.

Great value!
Using this lense with my NEX 7 with great results. Images are sharp and it is quick to focus. The only drawback is it is a bit noisy when focusing while shooting video. Other than that this is a great buy.

Great Lens!
Overall i am in love with this lens. Cannot complain with the price point and quality I have received with the lens. Great for close ups and portrait images like I bought it for. Would definitely suggest.

Crisp, clear and fast for a great price!
Oh and the bokeh is not bad either! This is the main lens that I keep on my camera. It focuses quickly, works well in low light and is a pleasure to use. At this price you can't afford to not have one!

pretty good
could have a faster auto focus. but the lens it self is very fast amazing low light photos. regreting the 50mm choice instead of the 35mm prime but still happy. works great for my weddings and events.

I am impressed.
My first lens other than the kit lenses that came with my Alpha 300. This lens is everything I had hoped it would be. Love the clarity and the ease at which it creates a blurred background (bokeh?).

Good Lens for the price
Good lens for the price and produces good images. I use it mainly for doing portraits of my family. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the fact that the focus ring is not easy to find or use.

This lens really works well for me. It's small and takes great pictures. I use this lens mostly fot portraits and find that it works well. I have not found any negatives with this product.

Great 'Prime' lens for a great price!
I am a DP that works on a shoestring budget and needed a fast lens, this was the perfect option. It made given light shoots possible. I would recommend this to any Alpha DSLT Videographer.

Love!
I had an old 50mm f1.4 and it took terrible foggy pictures on my digital camera, so instead of getting another used lens (and I was on a budget) I bought this, and it was a GREAT decision.

Great replacement
I've been shooting with an old Minolta Maxxum 50mm that finally died. Got this to replace it. Focus is quick and accurate, images are crisp, and minimum focus distance is notably better.

Max satisfaction
I really like this lens. From first moment the difference is obvious. But it is my first one, so i do not have any experience with something similar. And for that price max satisfaction.

Just for you
Very nice lens. It will change the way you take pictures. Today i don't want to take others lens to the street. It takes clear, nice and crisp focus every time. Very light, very portable

Noticing better portaits indoors
Pretty decent 50 prime. Good for low light indoor shots. AF could be a bit faster. This is good for spontaneous portraits, and general all around photos. I like to use the MF at f1.8.

50mm f/1.8 lens
I used the lens to take pictures of Niagara Falls at night when they were lit by colored lights. The pictures were wonderful, clear and defined, despite the fact that I am a novice.
