The EVF has arrived with the A77 II
I have been using an A65 for the past two years and have been very happy with it. I was never highly motivated to upgrade to an A77 Mk1 as they both shared the same sensor and EVF. But the A77 Mk2 has been a significant upgrade for me. The EVF is truly marvelous. As good as the EVF was on the A65/A77 this one is better. Getting much closer to OVF clarity with all the benefits of Live View. The EVF has IS stabilization on the half press now. Since... Show More

This camera pays for its self, many times over!!!!!
As a professional photographer, I look at a camera as an investment! I want a return on that investment! This camera has done this so well that I own two of them and use them daily! I shoot real estate photography and vacation rentals in the Florida Panhandle. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to shoot over 100 magazine covers. This camera gives me a depth of field that allows my clients to feel like they can reach into the picture!... Show More

Familiar, but much better.
Bought refurb. Had 900 images and 4 hours of video taken previously when received. Works perfectly. Also bought used lens at the recommendation of b and h expert. Have the original Sony alpha dslr, bought this model because all my old lenses and accessories work with it, and have heard this is last model that this is true for. Sony phone tech support is u.s. based and wonderful, one reason I stuck with brand. I called because couldnt figure out h... Show More

Best APS-C camera available
While I already own an A77 I purchased the A77ii for indoor basketball with the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 USD. It's a great combination able to track all the action and providing usable IQ up to iso6400. I like everything about this camera although it's flexibility and capabilities take some time to learn. For instance there are 4 modes of continuous AF depending on the type of action you are following. In addition there are a huge number of focus point... Show More

A forced upgrade, but well worth it.
My first camera, the a77, died unexpectedly and I was not financially prepared for that hit. Estimates of repair were 500-700 dollar range with no guarantees. Having three pretty decent lenses for the a77 which would not necessarily work well with a full frame camera, I purchased the a77 mk II with a bit of reluctance and feeling forced to upgrade. It has been a very good choice. The familiarity of the camera layout is a plus, and the new menu an... Show More

Wow !! What a Package !!
Ordered this kit a couple weeks ago, and all I can say is Wow!!. First time Sony buyer but long time Minolta user, and this camera is just incredible. EVF is amazing with its clarity and adjustable displays. As I now wear glasses, the view finder is spot on, crystal clear, and live view adjustments just incredible. Can't say enough. 16-50 2.8 kit lens, along with the battery grip is one heck of a package. Still exploring its many capabilities, bu... Show More

Exceptioanny nice camera great value
I was using a Sony a55 and upgraded to the a77II. The camera lives up to its reviews. Photos are sharper and have deeper color requiring less touch up with Photoshop. I'm still learning to use some of the features, but from what I have thus far read I'm going to really enjoy making use of some of the new features. In particular I will be making use of the 12fps. The 55 did 10fps. The memory backup allows up to 60 frames to be recorded which is re... Show More

Great all around camera.
Use it mainly for scenic shooting, and have taken several photo's that are felt to be the top rateted of the subjects taken. Of importance , is with a C sensor, you have more depth of field than a full frame camera, and this can make the difference in taking in big scenes. Also instead of putting on a 1.4 or 2.0 extender, all you have to do is touch a button once for 1.4, and twice for 2.0, without having to fool around with the lens. as we don't... Show More

Excellent AF and Resolution
I purchased the a77ii to get a new set of focal lengths out of my existing set of full frame lenses. I have been extremely impressed by the superior auto focus and image clarity of the new a77ii relative to my a99. Especially with the SAL50F14Z lens - with the a99, that lens consistently front focused to such a degree that even with +20 micro adjust, it was still front focused. The degree of front focus increased the closer the subject became. I ... Show More

Slightly improved.
I have tested this camera against my older a77. There seems to be a very slight improvement in the high ISO performance of this camera. In fact I'm not sure if it is an improvement or just a slight bit of Blurring added to the image to make the images look smoother. Also I have not noticed any considerable difference affecting the focusing in spite of the 79 focus points, compared to the 19 on the a77. The a77 is definitely the best APS-C Sensor ... Show More

Wow, Wow, Wow!
This is an upgrade from the SLT-a65 which was a great camera. All i can say is that i'm glad i did. This camera is amazing. When I tell you that I've studied and compared over and over again between Nikon, Canon and Sony..........this camera, in my opinion, hands down has more features and out performs! Okay, so Nikon and Canon may have more lens choices but there are plenty A-mount lenses available and truly, spend a couple bucks on one, two or ... Show More

What an upgrade
The A77 MkII is such a huge upgrade from the MkI. The processor and image sensor for low light is huge! I mostly shoot very low light/ candle light at Pro wrestling events that never has great lighting. The new processor lets me shoot at 3200 ISO at 250/sec with very very little to no noise break through. I also love the amazing moveable spot focus option. This allows me to set a focus group on the fly in the viewfinder as I'm shooting. This is e... Show More

Game changer
EVF is awesome, you see before hand how the picture will come out. That alone makes you a better photographer. Focus tracking is off the charts (lock-on Af expand flexible spot). You lock that baby on your subject and as long as you hold down the shutter button it will track fast moving subjects all through the 79 points. No other camera on the market has this feature and when you add the face detection wow, a total game changer. 12 fps shutter s... Show More

Stepping up!
Stepping up from A 100. It's like going from a Yugo to a Yukon Denali. Had so many people tell me not to buy it and go with Nikon. My main concern was all the lenses I had for my A100. I sure am glad I stayed with Sony. Love the oled viewfinder. You would never know that you are looking at a screen. The nice thing is that you can see well in low light. Shoots amazing video. Happy camper with Sony a77ii
Good - All the capabilities I need at a great price! - Great image quality and pixel count - Simple to use, both the menu and the dials/buttons - Solid, durable frame, but no too heavy - Swivel/tilt display - Broad ISO range - Love the speedy continuous shooting, made some great shots at sports events and wildlife Meh - AF is usually perfect, but every once in a while it goes searching (could just be me) - The top LCD is fairly useless, would be ... Great Combo for almost all conditions
I did a lot of research before buying this Camera, compare with Nikon and Canon models, reading reviews, watching videos, all the pros use Canon or Nikon, etc, etc. After spending some time learning how to use this camera I'm really happy of my decision. Amazing Camera, downside it does have errors
This camera is first class and I love it, well that was right up until the minute I got the error message, flashing hand with error, after trying figure out what the issue was I eventually found it, there was a fault with the steady shot and steady shot is very important on this camera, unfortunately I tried all the troubleshooting with Sony on line only to be told it needs to be sent in to a Sony repair center, still under warranty so no issues,... I've been using mine for several years,
And now I'm ready to review it. I bought mine as an upgrade to my a300. From the outset I was impressed by how easily I learned to operate the camera. For the most part I took pictures under unchallenging conditions and never pushed the camera to its limits. After all, taking pictures in bright sunlight at ISO 50 is not much of a challenge: F/16 @ 1/60 sec. with a 50 mm lens. Then, I went to the local car museum with its black-painted walls ... Show More

Big Improvement in Video vs. A99/A77
I mainly bought this camera for sports photography, but since none of the other reviews talk about the video abilities, I'll focus on that part of the camera: With recent 2.0 firmware release (free download from Sony) and the addition of the XAVC-S codec, the A77II is the first Sony DSLT camera to offer decent video capabilities. I also own an A7S, so this isn't a replacement for video use, but I would have no problem using it for supplemental fo... Show More

Great upgrade from my A57
Yes, I asked around before I got deep into DSLRs and everyone said something about Nikon and Canon, but me liking stuff that is more dynamic like Apple, I went with Sony. And after owing this model for the a few years now I do NOT regret going with a company that tries to be cutting edge. As I have found out over these last few years, the other brands now try to keep up with what Sony is doing, mirrorless, higher ISO, fast auto focus, etc. The on... Show More
