Perplexing, but good
I love the Sony A7III sensor. It's great, even in very low light. I find the dynamic range to be impressive. I love that in auto ISO it strives to keep the ISO as low as possible. If you're willing to buy Sony native auto-focus lenses, it's pretty much a no-brainer. Clearly, that's what Sony imagined everyone would do, because they cut a lot of corners on all other aspects of the design. My opinions are informed by years of shooting wit... Show More

Canon-Sony-Canon...? Which way do I go, which way do I go?
Im taking time to write this review in hopes that it will help someone that was in my situation. Im a female photographer always looking to improve my skills, decrease the weight of my gear and get the best focus, because as we all know that if the focus is not right EVERYTHING goes south. I like many of you was torn between trying the Sony A7III or sticking with Canon. I have so much Canon glass (which I LOVE and refuse to give up) but like many... Show More

My problems with the A7 III
The Sony A7III is an amazing camera. I would buy it again. Just about every time I use it, some of the results make me say wow. Doubtlessly you have heard the good stuff. I am going to write about some of its faults. I bought this camera partly because of the promise that I would be able to use my A-mount lenses, especially my excellent 70-400 GII lens. It indeed works well as long as what you are shooting is standing still. Focus tracking of ... Show More

From Nikon to Sony!
I've had the 7 iii for almost two weeks now. All I can say is if you're on the fence about upgrading to a full-frame mirrorless system, pull the trigger (or push the shutter, ha!) The 7 iii body is lightweight, making it extremely portable and this little beast packs a punch of incredible features. I was hesitant about mirrorless technology and had been a faithful Nikon user for 10+ years. Needless to say, I am beyond blown away by the ... Show More

Fantastic! Color Science Fixed! DOESNT COME WITH CHARGER?!?
I believe this camera to be one of the best on the marketin this price range(except for one purposeful shystery thing which Sony did that Ill discuss later). I was able to learn how to use it in a matter of minutes because I have previously owned other Sony Alpha cameras. That was very much appreciated seeing as most manufacturers seem to randomly change the entire layout and functionality of their new models therefore enraging all of their loyal... Show More

So much camera!
Seriously, this compact is packed with some incredible features. For the price point you can't compare with any other full frame dslr, much less mirrorless. So much so, that I left Canon after 12 yrs for it. I am still learning it, there is much I love about it, much I need to learn and utilize, and a few things I do not care for. I'll start with those... cause it only gets better. The kit lens doesn't wow me. It is a bit soft and can hunt during... Show More

At last I don't have to be afraid of high ISOs!
I photograph a lot of events which are often in dark venues. While I love my micro43 bodies and lenses, the images do get noisy above ISO 800. I can use higher ISOs with them but noise reduction reduces detail. The first time I used ISO 12,800 with this camera was was blown away by the quality. I decided to test the image against those taken with the micro43 cameras at ISO 12,800. I made sure to keep increasing the exposure compensation in those ... Show More

Both A Professional Tool and an Amateur's Best Friend
I am writing this review from the perspective of the automatic/point and shoot features of this camera. Why? Any seasoned photographer knows how to tweak almost any camera to get their desired results. BUT, a true high quality camera for dummies is gold. First off, the battery is ridiculous. It lasts for over 2 hours on video and I have yet to find out how long it lasts for stills. I'm still working on the second charge after testing video. Kee... Show More

Had it/Liked It/Returned It-Upshot: B&H is a great company!
So I bought my Canon 70D from B&H in 2014, brand new and still have it... I had as many as 11 lenses at one point, mostly Canon primes and zooms, also the old Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC-That thing and all 70-200 2.8 lenses are BRICKS... So I bought the A7III, looking to upgrade to full frame and not happy with Canons offerings... The Sony takes great pics, but it just doesnt feel or handle like a Canon...And 2 card slots, for me, is more of a pain than... Show More

I love it!
I've been looking for a full frame or even a medium format mirrorless camera for a while but didn't think the A7R2 was worth the $3200 especially given its battery issues and the wonky sony menu system. However once Sony announced the A7iii for $2000 I was onboard even with the Sony menu system. And I even have to admit the custom menus and customization options coupled with the extra dials for exposure compensation allow for operation without de... Show More

Great Lens; Better Camera Body
The Lens The 24-105mm is a great all-purpose zoom lens. I use it primarily for travel photography, but you could do portraits, landscape, and other artsy shots just as well. Pros: * It has great image quality. * The f/4 appeture is fast enough for many low-light and dusk shoots (at least with the A7III). * The electronic focus motor is fast. Cons: * It is heavy. You will definitely feel it in your backpack after a long day ... Show More

Excellent first impressions
My interests include landscape architecture and portrait photography. This purchase was in part to get the most out of the 18mm prime lens which was a 27mm equivalent on the existing A6000 [I had acquired the 18mm plus a 35mm and 85mm primes which gave a nice working range of 18 - 127.5 in conjunction with the A6000, for landscape and portraits] The first pleasant surprise was a full frame/APS-C toggle that could be assigned to a custom switch ... It's almost perfect
This camera gets a lot of stuff right. It's such a great improvement over the last generation. It takes great photos, performs great on high ISOs, videos are decent with log profiles, burst rate is decent at 10fps. AF is very snappy and covers most of the sensor. The list goes on and on.Read over the specifications and you'll know why everyone is hyping this camera. I'll talk about some of its shortcomings. 1. Menu system - It's known fact tha... Show More

About the awesome menus and overpriced charger...
People complaining about the menu don't know how good they've apparently had it. The menu system is my favorite part about this camera, and I will explain why. Coming from higher-end Canon DSLRs, where camera "customization" essentially involves toggling button functions on and off and other basic settings, the level of customization available on this camera is mind blowing. If you don't care about maximizing the potential of this camera, then su... Show More

Additional Comments Sony A7iii
Don't be discouraged by the pre-order notice. I ordered on Jun 5 and got mine on the 28th. While waiting, I played with the one at Best Buy. I wanted a mirrorless but none previously matched my Canon 5D III, 5D IV, or 5Ds until this one. This camera IQ is comparable to all of them and I wasn't disappointed. The other day, I blew up a waterfall picture and all was still sharp. Keep in mind that the 50 megapixel Canon would probably be a bit sharpe... Show More

This is my combo for vlogging/online video making and i love it. I actually work as gaming content creator on my youtube channel and covered some gaming events around the world with this setup. This camera right here. This camera right here is a godsend. For anyone looking to upgrade to full frame and/or 4K, this camera is a definite go. My only issues with the camera are that you can't view both cards' info in playback. You can only view one card at a time and you have to dive into the playback menu to change which card to read since you can't add it to the My Menu tab. The Camera I've Been Waiting For
From 2014-2015, I had the luxury of using a used Sony RX1, which was the first time I used both a Sony camera as well as a full frame sensor. I was blown away coming from a Canon Rebel XS. But the RX1 sadly broke by the end of 2015 and was not covered by warranty. So I settled for the Sony a6000 and 3 prime lenses based on my budget. That was a great system no doubt given the much better autofocus, remote capabilities and interchangeable lens opt... Show More

Hard to fault. Incredible camera for the money
To get to the point, for $2000 this is an incredible camera. I do not have experience with other brands except a few clicks of friends cameras so I cant really compare. I can say though that having upgraded from a Sony a6300 (crop sensor) to the a7iii (full frame) I have zero regrets and no concerns over the price. I shoot mostly in natural light, sports, outdoor pursuits etc. Having so many custom button options gives the ability to set up the c... Show More

Dream Camera
Ever since I owned my first DSLR, a Canon 70D, I was into both photography and video. I dreamed of a camera that could do both perfectly, and while the 70D could tackle both, it lacked features. For example 120fps, 4k, and very importantly, a full frame sensor. At the time, a 1DX ii was the only camera capable of that. The issue with that however was the cost, the video format that was huge, and in 4k the camera would crop. I later moved to a two... Show More

Best Sony Alpha yet
I used the Sony A7Rii for several years and although I was happy with it, the battery life and auto-focus was not perfect. I upgraded to the a7iii and am glad that I did. Yes, the A7iii has less megapixels than the a7rii but unless cropping small objects from large landscapes, that likely won't add value. What makes the a7iii a major winner is incredible auto-focus, excellent battery life, USB-C port (faster video and photo downloads to computer)... Show More

The Best Camera I Have Ever Used!
I recently bought the Nikon Z6 and fell in love with the build quality, but poor autofocus performance, limited native lens selection, subpar battery life and issues with the EVF (It shows a brighter image than what the camera will actually capture, Jared Polin talks about this in his Real World Review of the Z7) caused me to return it. This is Sonys third version and its great. I bought the original a7, and returned it in 24 hours. Way to slow to focus.
