Perfect
This camera is amazing. The only on their camera I had real experience with was my sisters D5600, and this is so much easier to use, and sharper. The kit lens doesnt deserve all the flack it gets too, its not that bad. The two best things about this camera, combine to make it absolutely fantastic: the 11 FPS continuous shooting, and the amazing and fast AF. These two things make taking action shots a breeze.

Upgraded from a6000!
Great autofocus upgrade. I urge you to try this camera with the Sigma f1.4 trio of 16, 30 and 56 (I have the first two). The viewfinder is bright like a torch indoors with these lenses. Highly recommend this camera.

Lots of noise and inferior built quality
This is my first Sony camera, I have owned Nikon and Canon cameras for many years (30+) and NEVER had problems, but for my latest camera, I wanted something light and easy to carry, so I decided to try Sony mirrorless. I am very disappointed with this Sony A6400, the noise of any picture taken with ISO 800+ is extreme, and long term exposure noise is very bad even at 100 ISO. Then after only 6 weeks, the popup flash popped out and will not come back in, the camera had to be sent for repair under warranty. I do not understand why so much fuss about these mirrorless Sony cameras.

Best entry-level Mirrorless camera
There's a lot to write about here, but in short, it might be the best entry-level Mirrorless camera out there. Sure, the a6500 (it's big brother) has 5-axis sensor stabilization for $300 more, but you can read around on the Internet that it is less than perfect. The image stabilization built into the lens is quite good. And if you really need full body stabilization, you'll be better off buying a $500 gimbal which you can use with any camera. Oh, and the 4K video on this is remarkably good, too!

Great outdoors Not indoors
Lovely colors & sharpness (depending on the lens used) AF is good. Outdoors it could be used at events or weddings! Results are that good. But indoors not so much. You basically cant shoot past ISO640 because the noise is bad. So use a flash indoors and keep it at 400 or less. Ill use mine outdoors with confidence but it stays in the bag indoors.

compact camera with bright sharp shots even in low light
I love this camera for its low light shots and amazing auto-focus (I use auto-focus almost exclusively). Its also compact - this was important to me for portability and size concerns. And it takes fantastic photos in all settings Ive tried so far. The menus are a little confusing (a common refrain among Sony customers) - for eg it took me a while to figure out how to change the aperture! But the functionality is all there if you can find it. Travel photography camera for stills
I have tried several comparable cameras and some higher end mirrorless including A7 III, Canon RF, Nikon Z6, and others. I settled for this Sony as the best compromise between weight and quality for landscape and architecture (city) photography. Photo quality is ok as long as you use full manual. The auto functions are deplorable for proper exposure. Autofocus is much improved, again, as long as you select the autofocus point yourself. Navigation... Show More

wonderful camera with the right lens
I have owned more than thirty digital cameras since 2000, several of them being Sony including the RX10 and a6000. The a6400 adds some nice features and mated with the 18-135mm lens is just about as perfect as a rig gets. For a nature/water photog like me, the absence of a built-in ND filter (which is in the RX10, V1 only) irks me, hence the four stars, but Sony has long played the game of being coy about features, probably so they can sell you another camera later - apparently that strategy works.

I cant believe its only $900
Im an in-house graphic designer at a small company, meaning Im also the photo/video guy. My photography skills/knowledge are intermediate level. Ive used a variety of DSLRs in the past from a Canon Rebel T3i to a Nikon D850, this is my first mirrorless. The a6400 is an awesome, versatile, powerful camera for $900! A lot of people have complained about the sensor, lack of IBIS, etc but theyre not comparing apples to apples.Obviously if you compar... Show More

No 30min limit changed me life
For shooting church services, weddings, etc. This camera is great. Small and compact with pro features and no video recording limit. You can just buy a cheap 4k monitor and your set... No more expensive external recorders. A great all in one package for event shooters. Ibis would have been nice.. But if you stick with native emount lenses with oss your fine. Amazing bang for the buck!

Impressive image quality in both photo and video
I am very pleased with this camera, I have been using an A6000, for several years and all of my lenses and accessories were compatible with the A6400, the resolution and image quality of its 4K videos are impressive, with stabilized lens , IBIS, is not really a must. I would recommend this body for anybody with a A6000, and for new users moving to 4K

Good upgrade
Ive been using the 6300 since it was introduced and loved it. The 6400 however is an excellent upgrade and well worth the asking price. The auto focus system is as advertised, quick, accurate and the tracking is excellent. Its hard not to be impressed with the facial and eye AF feature. Im finding the image quality better, but I think its because Im able to get more images in focus than with the 6300. The body is the same as the 6300, but the men... Show More

Amazing value in a low price point
This is my 4th and least expensive Sony Alpha camera. It has the most comprehensive menu and range of options I have seen yet. The inclusion of hybrid log, ultra fast focus, and generous feature set is amazing at this price point. Purchased an A7R, A7RII and A7S from BH previously.

I Love Little Cameras That Shoot Pro Quality Images!
My expectations of this camera was to allow me to use the divers brands of lenses I own in a way that wont restrict my artistic creation. The Sony A6400 tics most of my photographic needs. I once shot only Canon DSLR cameras, but they were heavy, and limited me to Canon glass. The file output was nice if all you wanted was the Canon look. Once I heard Sony mirrorless cameras allowed you to adapt almost any lens to it I was bitten. My first Sony m... Show More

Camera is simply awesome, Capture One support is not
We took our little gem on a recent trip out of the country to use as our walk-around camera and to explore its video capabilities; we put it through its paces in bright light, low light, interiors, exteriors, even a concert hall for a few snaps just to see how it would respond. The only flaw we found was the microphone, which really seem to be underpowered (we used an add-on, camera-powered mic at one point and had slightly better results): it wa... Show More

Should have never been released
After buying and trying to make this camera work for my needs as a freelance filmmaker I am sad to say Sony dropped the ball with this release. There are some really outstanding qualities, the three I would like to highlight are the Autofocus (best I have ever used), the HLG color profile which is just gorgeous, sharp and with beautiful colors (best I have seen out of Sony), and finally the long awaited flip screen. But, despite these positives I... Show More

I really enjoy the quailty of this camera but... My camera is defective. It has a red dot/pixel in the screen and view finder. Not sure if this is a dead pixel or not because when I focus it disappears but return at the same spot once it is back in focus.
