I love this camera. I bought it as a secondary camera when I don't feel like carrying my GH4. Pros: -The built-in stabilization is fantastic for walking around. What a great camera it was
I had this camera for 3 months and I loved it. I took it with me everywhere, isn't that the point of a range finder type of camera? Well after 3 months the auto focus assist light would stay on when the camera is on. I always shoot manual with AF and other gadgets off.. Big Improvements overall
I own a GX-7 and still enjoy shooting with it. Since then I have bought the 12-35mm and 35-100mm f2.8 lenses. The GX-85 adds several performance improvements over previous bodies. Ive had the pleasure to pick up a new panasonic gx85 a few months back. I was so surprised with how compact and how durable the camera truely is. It handles low light so nicely as well. I bought this as my compact travel camera and the results for both photos and video have been excellent. It's an absolute bargain at the current price with two kit lenses. Lumix gx85 - It was definitely worth the wait.
I am so happy to finally have this camera. I have had a number of Lumix cameras and still one of my favorites is the GX 1. The GX 85 is really a very close form factor which is what I was looking for along with the advanced 4K video and photo functions. I bought this as a smaller replacement to my Canon Rebel T4i that was stolen. Truth is, with the larger lens on the Canon, it was always a pain to carry. Getting used to this, but awesome quality pictures and easy to change lens' on the fly. It's a great size. I bought this compact camera with extra lens primarily for its 4K video capabilities, compactness and image stabilization. As others have noted, it has certain limitations, but it is PACKED WITH FEATURES and cannot be beat at this price for 4K. The 12-32mm less is so small but good. I bought this camera for its ability to do UHD video and I'm pleased with the results. Why? 1. One battery in my tested lasted for about 1 hour 19 minutes (USA version) of non-stop UHD video 2. The camera didn't overheat 3. When the camera ran out of battery power it gracefully stopped (produced a single 40+ GB file that was closed properly by the camera software). This is the first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera I've used. In the past, we've primarily shot with the Canon 5D Mark III for photos/video and Sony RX100 IV for video. For stills, I love that it gives me something in between to shoot with. Initial impressions: Straight out of the box, I was impressed with how solid the camera feels. The shutter is quiet. Perhaps not as quiet as the Olympus E-M5 II but still quiet. Fast and capable
The two biggest reasons for upgrading to me were lens and speed. I have a 12 year old Fuji that was fantastic (I plan on keeping it), but it was cumbersome and very slow. A lag time of nearly a second on many types of pictures, and the exposures were slow also. Before buying please try. I loaded the battery, turned the camera on then looked through the EVF. The 'tearing effect' reported in reviews was very apparent for me, making the camera not workable for me. The colors of the EVF are also cartoonish bright. Great image quality, poor ergonomics
I own this camera for about 2 weeks. I have and use several Nikon cameras including D810, D7000, and D5300. So I can compare. I like the camera so far. The image quality is really good. There is one real problem (for me): the layout of controls. The camera is not as light-weight as many cheap point-and-shoot. To handle it one has to use not just thumb but the palm (as you do with SLRs). All controls are on the right side and get pushed with your palm as you hold it firmly. It gets really annoying. If you can learn to hold it without pushing multiple buttons then it is a great small camera. :-)

Oner of the camera systems for us
4/3rds is working out well for us. Have Nikon and Sony FF which are great but the Lumix features and lenses being more compact and less expensive have become the equipment of choice for jobsite and brochure pictures. The GX85 is a versatile camera. the lenses could be a bit faster but are more than adequate for most of our work, and the quality of both the camera and the cost overall acquisition cost are relatively low which allows us to purchase additional equipment and remain within budget. B&H has become our preferred supplier and recommend them without any reservations.

Great price.
I bought the Panasonic Lumix GX85 back in February 2019. It was a great price at $497 at the time. I have since bought the Olympus 17mm f2.8 lens and it works great with the camera. Hope to buy the Panasonic 30mm f2.8 macro lens which is on sale. A note that seems to turn people off... you do have to charge the batteries in the camera. I have solved that by buying a charger that cost $9.99. So i highly recommend this camera. One last note, I do have big hands, so you have to watch what buttons or wheels you accidentally push - I have a few times changed the settings.
