The real deal
This is a great upward evolution of the GH camera series particularly for video work. Nearly all of the criticisms of the GH3 have been addressed in this iteration: manual focus peaking display, configurable zebra exposure guide and wireless remote control that actually works and is useful. All of those things plus in-camera 4K recording and a camera-out 10 bit workpath for those that need it. The only downside (and it is not insignificant) is th... Show More

Underwater Videographer first impression
I am an underwater videographer/photographer and have been waiting for a compact 4K camera like the GH 4. I also wanted the ability to do some slow motion and the 96 fps of the GH 4 delivers. Having a slew of different frame rates and codec options this is an incredible camera for $. Be sure to check my video page on vimeo as I will have some underwater footage posted up over the next couple months. Vimeo user name is rusty sanoian

4K for $, can't beat that
Great stills camera, phenomenal video camera with a pretty huge feature set. The 4K is gives you great detail and lots of room in post production if you exporting in 1080p. Coming from a 5Dmk3, I love how small the GH4 is, I can fit lenses in my pockets and cary around the camera. Battery will last you a day worth of shooting. Over all great camera if your priority is video but you still need the ability to shoot pictures

Excellent, so far, so good
Currently still playing with it to get used to the settings, handling and performance. The plan is to get an underwater housing as use it to shoot 4K video while scuba diving.

So glad I made this move
This is my first move from APS-C and full frame DSLRs. I did it primarily to have a more compact system that doesn't weigh me down, is less intimidating to subjects (especially in public / candid situations) and to benefit from using 4K source material in my video work. The build is great, the feature list is absolutely massive, and the quality I'm getting is tremendous. 16MP is plenty adequate (stepping down from 21MP without much issue) and, wh... Show More

Amazing Camera
Incredible camera. Only had for a week, but so far just loving it. Switched from a Canon system, and not regretting it for a second. For stills the over all experience is terrific - and low light ability is amazing. I have not got much into video yet, still much to learn.

The best mobile 4k Camera to date...
I have two live and two pre-recorded gospel tv programs. I am using with this camera the Panasonic: H-HS35100 only since I want to save money in not opting for now the Panasonic: H-HS12035Let me tell you that I also have Sony FDR-AX100 and on my programs I use both at the same time. Sony AX-100 is a wonderful camera but this one is just wonderful. I love both, Sony AX-100 for stand-alone and this one for wonderful quality that gives me far better... Show More

GH4 - awesome, but...
PROS + CONS GH4 - great image quality (8 bit is limit of in-camera cards) - 4K in-camera recording, awesome - works as smooth as GH3. Up and running in minutes - need new higher speed cards for storage INTERFACE UNIT - XLR-type power supply and cord not included in kit? Huge oversight - Sync problems when using SDI outs and in-camera down-convert when shooting 4K. AV sync is almost useless when camera attempts to down-convert for monitoring HD si... Show More

Home Run! ONE camera for all uses now.
I am finding myself getting more and more into Video but still needed a very capable stills camera. I really like the m4/3 system and have quite a collection of lenses. I have been shooting with the Olympus EM5 and most recently the EM-1 (Both fantastic Still Cameras). I loved the EM-1 for Photography but found its video capability to be a total afterthought by Olympus, especially for that price when you condisder offerings from other vendors. Th... Show More

The top 5 of 2014
Amazing product that goes beyond any other camera from this price point. Very compact for small productions, micro sensor size compatible with almost any brand and kind of lens in the market. Battery is life excellent For one man band or a small video production on a tight budget is perfect. Great sensor but it still needs light, beyond 1600 ISO you get too much noise , with a basic 2 or 3 light kit you will be able to get the job done in most of... Show More

Transition to DSLR may be difficult
I'm a professional videographer and I've always used a professional video camera. This is my first DSLR for video and there is a learning curve. That said, it's a wonderful camera. The footage is beautiful and it has features that are only found, I'm told, on the highest-priced cameras, like touching the screen for focus. That is wonderful. And, of course, there's the 4K.But again, if your focus is video, it's not as easy to use -- at least out o... Show More

Great Value; Wonderful Camera
I just graduated from film school and purchased the GH4 to shoot weddings and real estate videos, as well as my own personal short films. This camera is absolutely amazing. I love the ability to shoot 4K and 96fps (1080p) for such a great price. I've been raised off of the cannon 7D and 5DIII and I love the transition to panasonic. Micro 4/3s has a cool choice selection in lenses, and I can't believe how small and light the lenses are. There are ... Show More

Very Impressive!!! Highly Recommend!
I'm a Consumer photographer who buys high quality cameras to produce the best quality photos based on my limited abilities. I purchased this camera based of the 4K video capability. I was Blown Away by how detailed the videos are compared to the highest quality 1080p videos recorded by the same camera. The ability to pull 8mp photos from 4K Videos is a Game Changer for photography in General.

Please contact Panasonic to fix issues!
The GH4 has issues Panasonic will continue to ignore unless we speak up, so please contact them! Here are but 3 of them you can copy/paste and email to Panasonic: 1. Headphone cable always gets in the way of the tilting LCD screen. The solution is so simple: swap the position of the headphone jack with the seldom-used (if ever) AV OUT port. The AV OUT port is located right under at the LCD's pivot point, so any connected cable doesn't get in the ... Show More

There's a million reviews about this product. I'll just throw my 2 cents in and say, yeah... great camera.I've long shot on the GH2. I am so glad I waited on the GH4. The GH3 is still fantastic, but the big difference for me is Focus Peeking. I've always had trouble with my focus looking soft. Not a problem anymore.
